I have the iPhone 4 and was doing face time and also calling a land line.When using face time or using the speaker phone on land line calls, the person on the other end is not able to hear me.When using the phone in regular mode others have no problem hearing me (non-speaker phone).

the speaker works as long as it isn't turned up to the highest option, then it becomes crackly. The microphone works, but you have to talk softly or be far away for the sound to be unmuffled. Headphones work perfectly. I know Apple doesn't cover water damage, so what can I do to save my phone?

After struggling to get microphone to work on phone calls, I did a complete wipe and flashed the latest stock factory image.
I'm still having this issue. It's on both hangouts dialer and phone app.
When I use a voice recording app, microphone works. Google Now "OK Google" does not work though. I'm perplexed how to resolve this issue.
About a week or so ago, the handset stopped working on phone calls on my Verizon 9930. I would have to put the phone on speaker in order to hear the person on the other end. I just updated to the latest OS that was released yesterday (7.1.0.580) and the problem is still there. Can't remember what triggered the handset to stop working, as I didn't do anything different to the phone, or drop it, etc. I should add whether receiving or making the call, it doesn't work either way. Also I've tried soft pulls (alt + upper case + del) but not a battery pull. Figured the OS update worked the same as a battery pull.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy old Nexus 5 (vanilla 5.1.1 not rooted) is malfunctioning.There is no sound coming from the speaker in the bottom of the phone and the microphone is not picking up any sound when making a normal call and/or recording a video.The speaker at the top of the phone however, is working. So I hear people in phone calls, but they do not hear me.Now to the strange part: If I change to the loud speaker while in a call it's the opposite; I can not hear them but they can hear me.If I connect headphones into the headphone jack I can hear sound both in calls and in video playback.
So to summarize:
Playing video or music (YouTube, video recording, dialer sounds): No sound
Playing video or music (YouTube, video recording, dialer sounds) with headphones: Sound working
Recording video: No sound recorded
Making a phone call: Sound but no microphone
Making a phone call with loudspeaker on: No sound but microphone working
Making a phone call with handsfree connected: Not tested (I have no headphones with mic).
And what's even more strange is that I just replaced the flex cable with the microphone and charging dock and also the entire speaker with new parts from eBay. And guess what... it's still not working!!!
I've just purchased a new Vivaz and it appears that the speaker and microphone sound distorted. All my conversations sound distorted to other listeners. I've tried using Rogers support to reset but it still remains the same. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or is this just the quality of the phone itself.

I can not hear it ringing when someone call, but if I see someone calling and I answer the call they can hear me and I can hear them fine. I also can't not put the caller on speaker at all , I also can't hear my music or gaming apps. When I turn my phone on or off it does not make a sound as well. I have turned the phone off and turned it off by pressing the top button and home button at the same time and that did not work. I checked the volume and the mute button and the volume is up all the way.

Do not know how this happened, no damage to the phone at all, all of a sudden anything that plays of the speakerphone is not working, ie) music, alerts, ringtones.. NOTHING. Not even speakerphone during calls.The handset speaker works perfectly fine. I went thru allmy options, looked at all the sound profiles, nothing is working. Videos aren't playing sounds either. But if played through the handset or earphones it works....
Ive just noticed this issue on my month old z3. People can hear me fine if i talk using the earpiece, but the moment i switch to speaker, my voice sounds distant, or I cant be heard at all. Ive tried factory reset, but no luck.

IN the last 2 months i will go to call someone and the phone is silent(No ringing or voice from the other person). So i started pushing keys on my phone to see if i could hear that and i have come to notice that if i hit "#" all of the sudden it starts ringing or the persons voice is there on the other end. They can hear me the whole time but I cannot hear them. When it starts doing this silent thing I am able to hit the # key for about the 1st 2 phone calls then it does not work what so ever. The other person can hear me but I can hear nothing. I then have to take my battery out and restart my phone and it will work for a few hours or maybe a day but then does the same thing again.

So i recently updated the phone to 5.1.1 (around tuesday). my last call was on sunday. after this update my microphone isn't working anymore. No one can hear my voice. Video works. My iPhone 4S was dropped in some ranch dressing with the microphone & external speaker part getting the worst of it! I tried making a phone call to a friend of mine and she couldn't hear me. She said that all she heard was clicking noises. (I talked to her later in person!) I also tried playing music through the external speaker and with the volume on as high as it can go, you can hardly hear the music from the speaker. Weird thing is that I sent a friend of mine a Hey Tell message and he said that he heard me crystal clear!! I set my phone in rice overnight and nothing helped so far. Not sure what else to do!!
