Galaxy S6 Edge :: Get Rid Of Messenger Notification Pop-ups?
Sep 7, 2015
I've always hated Messenger's "Chat Heads" thing, and disable it as soon as possible. I just upgraded to a Galaxy S6 edge+ though, and once I disabled Chat Heads, I started getting these irritating notification windows. They show up nomatter what I'm doing, even if it's a game or something that takes up the whole screen. I can't find any way to get rid of them short of disabling notifications for the app entirely, which I don't want to do... I want to be notified of new messages with a chime/vibration and with an icon in the top status bar, I just don't want this window appearing all over whatever I'm doing! Here's a screencap of what I mean, just replace the dashes with "com". i.imgur.---/ok7shD9.jpg
So if I open messenger, or send pictures through it, etc., all the pictures I have been sent/have sent are in my phone gallery again. Is there any way I can stop this? It's very annoying. I just opened my gallery and there were 29 photos from messenger that I had previously deleted from my phones memory.
When I have a new message, The notification only shows in the notification bar on top of the screen... How can I get the little red notification badge on the actual app icon?
I don't want to download another launcher, just maybe a notification app that will give me what I need..
Am I able to get text pop up notifications on my edge screen? It's seems that I have all the serring set up for it but it's not working. I am using Samsung default text app and have edge settings to show texts... maybe text pop up notifications are not possible.
Had a problem since I upgraded to 5.1.1 on my S6 Edge every time I get a text and I don't check it. I keep getting a notification sound about every minute. I know I saw an option to just have it notify you once and that was it, but am unable to find that option now.
I really like the Accuweather app. However, I find that even though i definitely want the notification at the top bar of the screen (ongoing notification), i do not want the entire bar that goes across the Lock Screen as it blocks my Lock Screen wallpaper, which I want to see. How to have the ongoing notification but not the Lock Screen notification bar across the Lock Screen wallpaper?
I've turned on photo backup for onedrive on my new s6 edge, just like my galaxy s3 was. works like a charm. I understand it's a different operating system, but this one is chirping every time a photo uploads. i can't seem to turn it off seperately from the rest of the notifications.
All I really want to be notified of is email and text messages, both through the native application.
I just bought my Samsung galaxy s6 edge 5 days ago it's been working fine up until today. When I received a text message it didn't make the sound so I thought my phone was on vibrate or silent but it wasn't so then I went to settings and checked my notification setting and when I clicked the sound it didn't make a sound. So then I checked if I could hear the ringtone and I also couldn't hear. Mind you the volume is all the way up. So I decided to restart my phone and the sound worked gain but after a while the sound went away again and idk what is causing it.
I received a voicemail and now the notification is stuck on my screen. i am not able to swipe it away and when i click and hold on it i go to the app info and the options are, set priority and hide content. Both i turned off and when i pulled down the notification bar it is still there. I have read previous posts but none apply to the s6. I read that you should do a system restart, but will that delete all the things on my phone?
Is it possible without root to get rid of these from the notification drawer? I thought initially that s finder was handy but have never used it and what quick connect is (when i click on it all it does is turn bluetooth on??) which is stupid because the bluetooth toggle is directly above it!
Whatsapp Messenger does not work on E (Edge ) or H (HSPA) on Lumia 710. Read in the previous post saying to report it to the wassapp grp. But the messenger works properly on a SAMSUNG OMNIA W ( a WP7.5 Device )on E (Edge) . This Problem is only with LUMIA .
While upgrading to the latest version of my BB messenger I had two unread messages. I didn't read these messages and completed the upgrade. Ever since then I have had the notification icon displaying the number 2 with the bb icon on my front screen. So now when I have two new messages it shows 4 and after reading the two it continues to display the two messages that don't exist.
I noticed that my blackberry messenger notification at my home screen no longer indicates how many new messages I have. I've recently updated my BBM. I tried to reboot it twice but it's still the same and my friends are not experiecing this.
Got the new lumia 950xl yesterday in the UK, loving it so far but when I switch off my phone and back on again it seems to change the notification sound for Facebook and messenger, not really sure why so? Really annoying considering the messenger default is set to none so if I forget I won't know I have a message until I check my phone....
I am having an issue with my S5 ever since I got it. Multiple times throughout the day, I hear a notification sound (like I have a text message) but there is no notification of any sort what so ever whenever I review my phone.
I did not have the issue on my GS4, and I pretty much have all the same apps installed.
I am trying to find out if you can select a "group" from contacts to send a text to in Google Messenger. Do you need to select contact one by one in order to send a group message? I have a Galaxy S6.
I am wondering if there is a way to get contact pics to show for messenger conversions. I have my contexts synced with Facebook, but the pic do not show in messenger. I upgraded from a S3 and it did this but I can't figure it out how to on the S6.
There are days where I may not have opened Facebook or Messenger at all, yet when my phone winds down to the 33% remaining battery range these two apps will both be anywhere from 7-10%. I'll specifically kill the processes after I do use them, but this proves to be futile. I've went as far as paying for Greenify to automated the hibernation of these apps, yet within a minute they wake themselves back up.
For now I've disabled both apps just for the sake of seeing if battery life is improved. I cannot understand why the apps constantly begin the processes after I have force stopped them. Even if I am no longer able to get notifications from these apps without them running in the background, I could live with that easier than I can live with them draining 15+% of my battery when I'm not even using them. Heck, I kill WhatsApp's process after using it, and they stay off until I open the app or receive a message - and I also instantly receive notifications when messaged despite the process not running. This makes the Facebook drain even more frustrating.
Friends who have the S6 have absolutely no issue with these apps draining battery, and I'm not seeing any real issues with them on here. Having to disable the FB and Messenger apps is a bit extreme.
How to attach a picture using Googles messenger app for SMS? When I click on the icon it brings up the camera but no way to attach an existing picture.
