I use google messenger for my messaging app...
When I have a new message, The notification only shows in the notification bar on top of the screen... How can I get the little red notification badge on the actual app icon?
I don't want to download another launcher, just maybe a notification app that will give me what I need..
Not getting notification badges for Gmail? My Hotmail thru Samsungs stock email app receives them, but curiously nothing I do will make Gmail display them. Yes I have notifications turned on for the app and Gmail sync is turned on under Accounts. not sure what else I need to enable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've always hated Messenger's "Chat Heads" thing, and disable it as soon as possible. I just upgraded to a Galaxy S6 edge+ though, and once I disabled Chat Heads, I started getting these irritating notification windows. They show up nomatter what I'm doing, even if it's a game or something that takes up the whole screen. I can't find any way to get rid of them short of disabling notifications for the app entirely, which I don't want to do... I want to be notified of new messages with a chime/vibration and with an icon in the top status bar, I just don't want this window appearing all over whatever I'm doing! I am trying to find out if you can select a "group" from contacts to send a text to in Google Messenger. Do you need to select contact one by one in order to send a group message? I have a Galaxy S6.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I did the new update, it's just displaying the badge icon circle (bubble) on the app, but no unread count. With e-mail and facebook I noticed it so far.
When I restart my phone it works, but then anything new after I delete those messages, it just goes back to no display count and a white bubble.
Does the gmail app not use a badge to tell me how many unread emails I have? My other mail apps I tried did, messages does, and facebook too...is this a setting I can change?

I am using the normal touchwiz launcehr that came with my phone. I have used it as well before the update.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am using a Verizon Galaxy S6 and have been using Google Voice for voicemails. Recently, I discovered that sometimes my voicemails come through several hours after the call. This does not happen all of the time, but it does happen some. It is also pretty inconvenient. I do not want to go into the app and press refresh after missing a call, just to see if I have a voicemail. I did not have this issue with my Galaxy S3 or Moto X. Also, I have the sync, notification, etc settings all good to go.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Google's Messenger app is showing the new SMS notification but when I click to open it, it shows the SMS thread with the text, but instantly goes back to the thread list showing the last saved SMS ad being from Aug 18.This has been happening for almost a month now. Something similar happens when sending texts, I compose the text, press send and get a red status below the text saying it failed and when I go back to the thread list, the last text is again the one from Aug 18.Hangouts is working fine, but I hate it for SMS. Ever since then I have had the notification icon displaying the number 2 with the bb icon on my front screen. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to android and just got a Nexus 5 and have a question about Google Messenger/Google Photos.
I'm saving all my photos on Google backup in order to preserve storage on my device. And in some apps (like Line), I am able to send pics directly from the online storage, but with Messenger it can't access any photos unless they are saved to the device (local storage).
Is there a way to get around this? Or do I have to manually "download" any photos I want to send prior to sending a mms?
I'm running Android 6.0.1. The phone was used, but it had a factory reset when I bought it, so I don't think there's anything funky going on with 3rd party apps.
The call notification icon will not disappear from the notification bar not even after restart or shut down.
I mention I have closed all apps from multi tasking and it still did not disappear

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same thing I am. I will do my best to explain what exactly happens.When the sms app is "running in the background" and I receive a new text the blue circle icon does not pop up next to the new text and the contact that I received the new text from doesn't shoot up to the top of the list on the main sms page. If I then manually go into that text it will update but the badge on the home screen sms icon will be stuck and will keep going up for every new text I receive. Also the number next to the word Messages on the main sms page will consistently show (1) next to it no matter how many texts I have received.The only way to temporarily fix the issue is to go to the multitasking menu and close the sms app and then re-open it. Once I do that all the texts that I received prior to closing it will then be updated with the blue icon next to it and then can be marked as read.
I tried to search but was unable to find anything similar to my issue. I did read somewhere that having the phone jailbroken and using an app like bite sms can screw up your sms count. I was using bite prior to updating to iOS4. The reason I feel like that wasn't the cause is due to the fact that it happens to every single text I receive. It is not an issue that is linked to receiving texts from one particular person.
Im wondering how are some people showing Live weather on their APPS as a badge? Their also using The Weather Channel APP to do it.I saw pics in the Jailbroken Home screen thread.. But didnt get an answer there as people are busy looking at pictures.. I thought they were using CurrentTemp.. but thats not it because the icon is actually The Weather Channel and it has a badge with the temperature on it..
Can anyone tell me? Or what are some other ways of showing live weather on the lockscren/homescreen without using Lock Info.

View 11 Replies View RelatedDo we know how iPhone OS 4 will handle apps that are lumped into folders and have badge icons (via push notifications or otherwise)?I'm hoping there will be an option for the folder to have its own badge icon that sums all the badge icons in the folder. It would be nice to lump applications that get badge notifications into one folder. This would at least provide some form of notification management until Apple solves the problem. Granted this won't work for applications that use the badge icons for things like temperature.

everytime i manually or automatically in the background my apps updated, i used to see a blue dot badge next to the apps which have just been updated but now i dont see these. I have tested this on 3 different devices and still i dont see the blue dot.
