So, simple question, is there, or is there not a way to turn off auto-correct on the S6, for the Swype keyboard?
My title is as it is because, no matter how concise your search is, on here, or on google, searching ANYTHING for turning off autocorrect will give you results for every other device in the universe but the s6.
The menu is different, the settings are different, there is no "auto-complete" in the menu...the way you do it s5 and prior does NOT apply. Turning off some other option, like the auto-predict, auto-capitolize, etc, etc...does NOT work.
Whenever I type a word with an apostrophe (I'll, we'll, Don't etc) the regular on board keyboard corrects it to something like I'I'll we'we'll and don'don't every time. I have, when I've noticed the suggestion appear, attempted to delete these words from the user dictionary but they keep coming back. I can't even find access to the entire user dictionary to delete there, just the suggestion bar.
It's very annoying as I keep getting doubled words when typing fast. It's only happening on apostrophe words and I never "taught" those words to my phone.
It's like it is trying to correct by replacing the correct word's last letter with the entire word.
Before today my phone had this really cool feature where if my phone autocorrected a word, then I could hit the backspace button immediately after and it would revert the word back to its original form. But now it updated last night and that feature is gone.
Hi I just picked up the Galaxy S Vibrant last friday and can not seem to get the swype function to work. I looked into the setting and see that the keypad sweep is on however do not see the swype function on the qwert key pad. Am I missing something here? Do I need to install swype keypads?
It worked fine until a could days ago and nowas it won't auto space with swype. I've checked make sure it's turned on but I can't figure out the problem
I have Gingerbread UGKG2. When I first started swyping I'll admit I didn't really know what I was doing. I'd correct a word and if it said "would you like to add 'es' to the dictionary" (or whatever I had typed in) I just said yes. Now it keeps putting in these non-words and I can't get rid of them. I've seen the threads where people point out where the dictionary is found in other O/S's but not this one. I've also seen people post that you just highlight the word and you'll have the option of deleting it from the dictionary, no so on my phone..
My autocorrect has taken on a mind of it's own, and will now change perfectly fine words to completely different ones. It will change "it" to "is" or "bad" to "sad" and many other unnecessary changes. Today was the final straw, it changed "there" to "their". when the sentence was, "He's been upset since he got there." So it's not as if it was being smart enough to replace the proper tense, it was just wrong! Will there been an improvement with autocorrect in the next update, because I've decided to turn it off until this madness stops.
i cant download swype for my nokia c7.ovi store is not available in my country and i really need to download swype and other nokia apps.how can i do that and where else can i get it.its becoming frustrating to own a nokia smartfone in my country.
I've been using Swype for a while now, and I've never really had any problem with it lagging or missing words, but on my m8 it does. I have it on my nexus 7 tablet and it doesn't happen there, so I know it's not just me.
If I'm swyping quickly, it'll take so long to process one word, that by the time it's ready again I've already swyped a second word that gets missed and it goes straight to the third word.
Swype is the only keyboard I have downloaded, but I can't seem to get it to work with any programs. Specifically I want it to work with Handcent, but for the life of me I can't figure out how. Swype is selected in settings>keyboard menu.
Update - seems to have uninstalled itself - except for a thing called swype pen entry or similar - which says i have to delete swype first.. and swype is no longer findable but the text entry is default again - so I should worry.(Really no German Swype support
Had to do a factory restart because of a problem with m4e and I now have the new version of swype V1.0.19197.Although it works fine the landscape keyboard is ridiculously small and I want reinstall the previous version that I had.
Anybody have any ideas on how to find out what the previous version was and how to reinstall it.
I broke the screen on my 1520, and got a 1020 as replacement.so far it has been great!!! The only question I really have is a way to get Swype as my standard keyboard as it is on the 1520.
Every time I install the memory card now, Swype attempts to install. But the install gets stuck, showing "Preparing to install" and going no further than about 30%. You can just about see another dialog beneath the swype installation dialog , and you can see the bottom of an "OK" button. It looks like the swype installation is waiting for the user to press OK before it can proceed, but you cannot, because the "Preparing to install" is on top, and you cannot see enough of the OK button to press it.Holding the menu button does not result in seeing any running apps which you could quit.
If I take out the memory card, everything's find. But obviously, I want to use my memory card.If I restart, I get the same problem. If I take out the card and put it back in again, I get the same problem. How can I get round this? Can I disable the swype installation somehow? (I don't use Swype anyway..
Has anyone else noticed swype switching to all caps a lot (using system version4.5.91.MB869.ATT.en.US, Android Version 2.3.4)? Happens to me when the popup appears to let me select between different word choices. About 50% of the time, when I click on one of those words, then swype switches to ALL CAPS. This is driving me crazy!
Ever since the last update my swype is now messing up. It freezes up and then continues. I was also really hoping for a fix for the wifi problems some of us have. I cannot connect anywhere. It worked very briefly after a reset but is now back to the same. It only works in airplane mode. I also used to be able to start it up in airplane mode and then turn airplane mode off but I now lose the signal when I do that.
There are many times in the Ui and in the Web it is not possible to see what you are typing with Swype 2.01.Ie. contacts search, texting and Web forms.

Does anyone know if development work on Swype is continuing? The last version released (albeit in Beta form) was v2.01(4435) but this is no longer compatible with Belle FP2 with the main issue being with the SMS conversation application as when you attempt to right a text message the entry field remains at the bottom of the screen and the keyboard covers this up so you cannot see what you have entered. If you revert to the Nokia FP2 keyboard the field moves above the keyboard as it should. Some of the other issues reported on other forums include: double-tap to select word not working backspace not working (or holding backspace for word delete) in some apps Left/Right arrow keys not working in some apps every word gets capitalized (rare) split-screen not working consistently multi-line input not available in some apps (could be down to the individual apps) input is sometimes right-aligned buttons along bottom (tick, left/right, options) are too small doesn't have text selection anchors like native Belle input Although I have not spotted all of these.
It's great that Swype was included with the X2 so I didn't have to downlaod it, but the fact that it's a system application means it can't be altered and therefore we're stuck with an outdated version. I can understand that the included version was probably current when the Froyo firmware was written for the phone, but to not update Swype to the current version when you rolled out Gingerbread or remove it so we can update it ourselves doesn't make any sense. If I want to have the current version, which is improved, I have to root my phone to remove Swype so I can put it back on. Any plans to change this so we can actually control what's on our phones and keep the apps up-to-date? BTW, Swype's already got another version on the way. [URL]
Is there a way to disable the language button in swype? I have my only enabled language set to US English but the button is still there, robbing space that I used to use for the space bar. It makes adding a space when I end my finger on the left-hand side of the keyboard a little harder.
A brief history if it matters to trouble shooting this. I initially had to hard reset my X2 because the data encryption feature caused some unwanted effects, i.e. the data encryption feature did not work properly. Since that hard reset, I left the default keyboard input method as multi-touch. Just today I thought I woud like to try Swype. However once I bring up the keyboard input options and select the radio button by Swype, it stays greyed out. Are there some possibly 'lock out' options I might have selected that doesn't allow me to select Swype? I know Swype works because I had it before the hard reset.
