The Samsung message app converts long messages to MMS which ends ends up costing me. Can this be switched off? The Hangouts messaging app doesn't do this but I prefer the look of the Samsung app (personal preference).

How do I stop this from happening? I saw a similar thread about SGS2's, but I think the locations of settings must have changed a bit because those directions were not completely compatible. I want to make sure I can still view my work email on my phone; just don't want my personal texts going into my work's email/network.

The time of the messages are always the time i turned it on, not when it was really sent. Is there a setting for that so I know when the messages were actually sent?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI did a forum search for my problem, and couldn't find an answer for my specific issue, which is this:My AT&T 9700 worked great until about a month ago, when it started to freeze while I was text messaging. Looking through the forums here, I noticed that it was happening when I had large numbers of saved texts, and I started deleting the threaded messages so that I was never over about 20-25 texts per person. That solved the problem for 2 weeks.Last week, I started deleting all text messages beyond 15 texts, total, and still I have the issue. I just had the phone freeze and refuse to allow me into the threaded portion of the text after just 3 texts (2 from my wife and 1 from me)!Does anyone else have this problem? I have done the following as well, in order:

Upgraded to the latest AT&T approved OS (5.0.0.602?)

Each time, the problem has recurred. I never have less than 105MB of application memory available.
I run my practice via email and text messages when I am (frequently) out of the office, so this is becoming a critical issue for me. Ideas?
This just started happening after the upgrade to froyo. I get a lot of texts from one person, and they were always displayed in the messaging widget before the upgrade. Now they only appear in the notification bar. Have tried deleting the conversation to start over but no change.

It takes a very long time to load the app and the individual conversations. When sending texts it takes 3-10 seconds before sending. I deleted all the texts on my phone, which I had backed up and loaded.

also, i used to be able to type in somones name on the homepage and it would come up with all the texts from them, my facebook interaction with them e.t..c and now this has stopped too .
When I receive a text it no longer shows alongside the emails I receive, instead texts are saved by conversation.

View 20 Replies View RelatedEvery now and then, almost as if my phone chooses when it wants to mess with me, I'll open a conversation in the messaging app (the standard app on the phone). I can see in the main conversation window that there was a picture sent and I can see the picture. When I tap on the picture to enlarge it to full screen, it doesn't open. Instead it just shows a black screen with the thumbnails from previous sent pictures along the bottom.
To give a real example: My brother just had a baby and my mom has been sending pictures like crazy. When I open a picture from the messaging app, the screen is black but the previous pictures that were send can be opened via the thumbnail selection across the bottom of the screen.
If I close out of the app and reopen the app, I can usually see the picture I was having trouble with, but the next one will do the same thing. Sometimes I'll be looking at a picture someone sent and it will go black while the picture is already open.
It's as if something running in the background is interrupting the process and even shutting the process down in some cases. Even pictures that I've seen before, for instance, my mom sent baby pictures of my brother a few weeks earlier, won't open even after I've already seen them through the messaging app.
As you can imagine, it's terrible. Especially when I want to show my wife a picture someone sends me, I have to jump through 5 minutes worth of hoops to get it to open and in some cases I can't even get it to open!
What I want is to be able to receive a picture via the messaging app and tap on it to enlarge with NO issues. This really doesn't seem like too much to ask for.
I've found that sometimes after taking a picture, the initial .nrw file doesn't automatically convert into a jpeg. Although the .nrw files can be viewed on the phone, they can't be editied, nor can I find any apps for my computer which will open them. Also, the .nrw files are not recognised by websites I've tried to upload them to (Picasa, Facebook etc).

I have a mobile me account that I purchased with the ipad 2 years ago but I don't think I have anything out there on mobile me. I want to start using icloud. Is there a disadvantage to not converting my mobile me account and just starting with an icloud account with the gmail address I have rather than a me.com email address. I have never really utilized the me.com email.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI currently have an iPhone 5 and have a group chat with other iOS users. One user is overseas so can only use WiFi to chat. I'm planning to get the S6 in April, but have been confused over whether or not I can group chat with just the messaging apps provided. My parents both have the S5 and when they group chat me using the Verizon Messenger app, it works just fine. However, I've heard from others that the texts come through separately, or that its just impossible to group chat with iOS users. We've talked about using other apps like Hangouts, etc, but those tend to drain batteries faster.
After doing some more research, I read that the Verizon messenger app lets you chat via WiFi, but will that jive with iMessage? I don't want another iPhone and I'm very excited about the S6, but its just frustrating not being sure if we can keep our group chat up.
It has the following text "Following unknown links leaves your phone and personal data vulnerable. By tapping OK, you agree that you are solely responsible for any damage to your phone or loss of data that may result from following this link". There are no messaging settings that turn this off.
I was only able to find one thing from an S5 question and the solution was unchecking a setting while in safe mode? How to do that on the S6 but i don't really want to have to if i can avoid it. I'm on AT&T btw and am running 5.1.1.
