Nov 8, 2011In my text messages I cant seem to find where to turn off auto correction for spelling. Also I noticed there is no way to save pictures that are sent through text messaging. Can anyone help me...This phone does not have many options for customizing and I am thinking about switching this phone to an htc phone or something.

May 30, 2010I am trying to use Nokia Messaging (v10.2.0.4) on a 5800 (v50.0.005). I set up an IMAP mailbox to sync. My subscription with the GSM operator includes the Nokia Messaging service.I can download messages if I tap send/receive, but automatic sync does not work.If I set the sync time to Push Mail, I can see a green ring on the screen. I assume it means there is a live connection. But messages do not arrive.If I set the sync time to 15 minutes, the ring becomes grey and crossed. Every 15 minutes it changes to green and rotates. I assume it means new messages are downloaded. But they are not.
Again, if I tap Send/receive, new messages arrive.I also tried to configure a Gmail mailbox. The situation is the same. Manual send/receive works, automatic sync does not.How could I get automatic sync to work?

Feb 4, 2010Another problem with my new 5230: I have a pre-paid card (Pay and Go, Proximus, Belgium).I left my phone standby (and ... the battery still doesn't last 1 day, see other post) all day.I checked the amount of pre-paid credit I had in the morning.
I checked again a few hours later (and I did not use the phone): credit is decreased !Checked again a few hours later: credit still decreases. this is becoming very expensive (few Euro's a day) so here are my questions:
-anyone any idea what can cause this?
-anyone any idea how I can find out what causes this when no-one knows? ;-)
-how can I disable ALL possible "auto-connections" ?

Apr 15, 2012I want to know if there is a way to disable the automatic ambient light detection which adjusts the screen brightness according to the environment you are in.I use the Nokia 700 with Symbian Belle, and I cannot see an option to disable it. Most devices with the sensor can disable it. Android of course, but even Apple device can! This is blasphemy! Apple having greater customisability than Nokia?

Jul 1, 2010I did a forum search for my problem, and couldn't find an answer for my specific issue, which is this:My AT&T 9700 worked great until about a month ago, when it started to freeze while I was text messaging. Looking through the forums here, I noticed that it was happening when I had large numbers of saved texts, and I started deleting the threaded messages so that I was never over about 20-25 texts per person. That solved the problem for 2 weeks.Last week, I started deleting all text messages beyond 15 texts, total, and still I have the issue. I just had the phone freeze and refuse to allow me into the threaded portion of the text after just 3 texts (2 from my wife and 1 from me)!Does anyone else have this problem? I have done the following as well, in order:
Battery pull
Factory reset, no additional applications
Upgraded to the latest AT&T approved OS (5.0.0.602?)

Each time, the problem has recurred. I never have less than 105MB of application memory available.
I run my practice via email and text messages when I am (frequently) out of the office, so this is becoming a critical issue for me. Ideas?

When you unclick the vibrate option in notification settings in the stock messaging app, it won't vibrate when you receive a text if you set your phone to vibrate mode.
I don't want my phone to vibrate and make a sound with volume on when receiving texts, but there doesn't seem to be a way to have it vibrate only when in vibrate mode and make a sound when in sound mode without vibration.
Other apps like groupme allow you to separate vibration and sound mode, but can't in the stock messaging app...

Sep 1, 2010Not sure why but all of a sudden for the last 2 days, the ios auto-spelling correct feature keeps changing the word "me" to "mr". I don't want to turn the feature off because it's useful for correcting all my other mistakes but that one is really annoying because I never use "mr" (all lower case) and often use "me" Does anyone know how to edit the "dictionary" its using to make the corrections. I've got a jb ip4. It's been jailbroken for awhile and this problem is only recent so I know it's not tied to having just been jailbroken.

Jun 5, 2015Since lollipop update my Note 3 underlines spelling errors in red. I hate auto correction but love the red underlining feature. You need to install google keyboard for it to work however you don't need to use google keyboard. Just have it installed. This feature never worked on note 3 until 5.0 update. I'm at an ATT store at the mall and I installed google keyboard in the s6edge but I cannot seem to get the red underlining to work? A screenshot would be great confirmation. I really need this feature. It draws my attention to possibly misspellings without changing them. I use a lot of jargon that gets "autocorrected" into jibberish if I use normal autocorrection.
