I have searched for Galaxy S6 GPS problems in google, and I have noticed that some owners experience a lot of signal loss/searching in their phones. What I have found annoying in my case is that whenever the GPS signal is lost, Google Maps puts me in a wrong location that I have not been to for a while. I have lived in that location before, but I have since moved and no longer stay there. I have purchased the phone after moving.
After a bit of experimenting I came to the conclusion that the building I currently live in blocks the GPS signal, since whenever I am in the balcony/near a window I get a signal and I'm put in the correct location in Google Maps. As soon as the signal is lost, Maps automatically puts me in that old location. This has also effected Google Now where I'm given incorrect travel times, but not my weather location (set on current).
I have set 'Home' to my new location, I have also tried deleting my location history from google, tried a few GPS fixing apps, reinstalling Maps, and also installing other map applications like Here and Waze, which behave the same way and give me the same old location as my current.
At first I thought it could be a GPS hardware defect in the galaxy, but I turned on my old HTC One (M8) and it acted and behaved in the same way putting me in my old location. So it seems to me there's something in the Android OS perhaps since Here and Waze act in the same way. I also tested with the Maps app on iPhone 6 and it gave the correct location although not 100% accurately. So is there anyway I can make Maps at least remember my last location before signal loss?
It is also absurd that my laptop can pinpoint my correct location while connected on Wifi while my phone with GPS, wifi and cell network cannot, which in conclusion seems like an android bug or something with location history in my google account which as I said already tried deleting the whole history.
Also note that the GPS and Maps work perfectly fine whenever I'm outside the building and I have location discovery on GPS, Wifi and cell network.
Whenever I take a picture it saves to my cloud my email my Picasa everywhere how can I make it only save onto my phone and then if I want it to backup on the other accounts how can I manually do that? I'm tired of every picture I take save everywhere so then I have to go delete them all individually...
When I use the Galaxy S5 Gallery to view photos taken with the S5 the location data is always way off - maybe 400 or 500 metres.
If I use some other image viewer such as QuickPic or Gallery KK for the same pictures the reported location is accurate. If I copy the pictures to my PC and view them in Picasa or Lightroom the reported location is also accurate. So why is the Samsung supplied Gallery app so wrong? (I know I could just ignore it and use an alternative app, but its other features are useful to me).
Incidentally, the recent Gallery update if anything made matters worse.
I was using Google maps today and its showing my location 5 km from my home when I'm sitting at home! I've tried hi accuracy mode in the settings, wiped the cache, ininstalled maps. All without success. Even Google earth is reporting the wrong location. what I can do to resolve it? Factory reset? How good a job does the restore feature on the pc version of smart switch do at restoring the phone?
Various apps that I allow to use my current location very, VERY often report me being in the wrong place when at my house. I have wifi in my house so I'm obviously not going to use 3G.And when I say wrong, I don't mean like right up the street. I mean like 2 miles away across town. Anything I can do to fix that?
I have a blackberry bold 9650 and when I open Maps and click find location then click where I am it says searching for satellites. It then says I am Near County Hwy-V42, Salt Creek, IA, USA, 52560 But the thing is I'm in Fairfield, IA 52556. How do I fix it so it'll actually tell me where I am? Your Navigator Deluxe finds my location fine but Maps doesn't.
1. On a stretch of about 48 Km of mostly highways MAPS more or less gets lost and give me completely wrong directions, like "turn left" on the highway (not in the UK!). GPS signal is strong and even an external Bluetooth with better sensors does no help. It happens always at the same spots. 2. On some longer trips MAPS did hang for a couple a minutes, usually at crucial moments. 3. During this 48 km trip, which I know very well, I use MAPS mainly for traffic announcements, it gives me directions that are far from optimal, not for shortest route nor for the fastest. The routes in version 2 where correct. 4. It is impossible to keep the Bluetooth link with my Nokia CK-1W car kit up longer that 5 minutes. Usually It disconnected after a minute or 3.
My google now was working wife until yesterday. Now I only get weather card and basketball (rarely) for my team. The biggest letdown I experience is that google now no longer shows cards for my home or work, and I don't know how to bring it out. I checked all location settings are there. Even saying navigate home doesn't do anything but google search.
I just got a new samsung phone about a week ago.It was working just fine until yesterday when I was going to try to send a picture I had just taken to one of my friends, but for some reason it sent one I took a week ago. I figured maybe it was just a fluke, so I tried to send another picture, and the same thing happened. Again, I tried to send a picture, and it sent the correct one this time.In short, about 70% of the time I try to send a picture, it sends the wrong one.I don't use a memory card or use the internet on my phone, either.
How do I get the weather widget box (the one that shows the next 3 days) to stay on the location I want, I can touch it and then select perth but it always defaults to Sydney when on the home screen
I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted). Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".
So I checked my phone storage. phone memory: 1.97Gb Applications: 647mb Free: 247mb USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.
I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully. I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card). So this raises a few concerns:
1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory... 2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?! 3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.
I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.
I recently bought Nokia 5800XM and I have small problem. When I try to use Ovi maps and select My location it points me out to some place in London. First of all I thought its a problem with the GPS so I installed Google maps to check. The result was - Google maps application properly found my exact location(Sofia, Bulgaria, even the street was correct). Then I tried to remove all the maps and voice guidance files from my phone and installed ONLY the Bulgaria map and Bulgarian voice guidance file. However when I selected "My location" the GB(London) map was downloaded and the again I was pointed to some random location in London...
My phone software is updated to 50.0.005 and my Ovi Maps version is 3.04(updated today). Only Assisted GPS and Integrated GPS are enabled in App>Location>Positioning>Positioning Methods. I use the WAP services(HSDPA) provided by my operator(Mtel BG) to connect to internet. Is this some kind of hardware problem(in other words should I return my phone to the vendor) ? Or Ovi Maps are still in beta(or alpha) stage and can't be used for proper navigation ?
I've seen a couple of threads about location problems, and I have a question about it. Two weather applications show my location in NJ when I'm in NY, and while the two apps show different NJ towns, both are over one hundred miles from where I am. Weatherbug allowed me to turn off network location and use the phone's GPS, but it hasn't changed anything. At this location, I must use a network extender to get a signal, so that may be mucking up the location, but the weather app is off whether I'm here or somewhere else.
I installed maps 3.0.8 a while ago and was working fine. I used weather widget frequently. Was in the USA last week, Belle came out for my N8 and I upgraded. Used weather widget there, and it showed me USA local weather for Wayne, near Philadelphia.I am home now in Novi Sad and weather widget still shows "Weather for Wayne'' and the temperatures and forecast are for Novi Sad. I tried to go put get GPS lock on Novi Sad in Drive. No change. I can not remove ''Wayne'' in any way I tried. I am having correct forecast and current temperature but I can not remove name of the location.
I have a home automation system that uses my phone's location to identify if I am home. But the problem is when I start using my ps4 (and when it is standby). My phone thinks I am about a block away, it always returns to my actual location, but ever 10-20 minutes it jumps back to that wrong location. This issue only comes up when my PS4 is plugged in and on or in standby. This is causing the home system to think i went away for a couple of minutes, arming my home.Â
For some reason all of a sudden, my WP, Bing Maps, Facebook, has been showing my urrently location in Ohio, when I am in So Cal. However, when using Nokia Maps, it displays my location correctly.I have rebooted my phone, turned on and off location, but it still located me incorrectly. This is day 2 of this issue.
I have owned a galaxy s6 edge for three or four months now and for the last month or so, the location setting has been turning itself on. I have noticed that this only happens when I have some form of internet connection (4g or wifi).
I checked the location services menu and it says that no apps have recently requested my location so why this is turning on. I have also moved my location quick setting to the end of the scrollable quick settings so there is no possibility of turning it on accidentally.
I don't want it to know where I am (data protection and all that).
I don't know what happened but Google maps and Google now think I am on the other side of the country. I am in Ohio and it is showing my location as in a neighborhood in Salt Lake city, Utah. I have turned location, WiFi and GPS on and off. Also I have turned the phone on and off. I am on T-Mobile and my other phones location is correct.
When someone calls me and I want to answer the call by swiping the green button I got nothing even I can't end the call by swiping the red button or even by pressing the lock key. I have to wait until the caller ends the call and then I call him back.
My phone keeps on giving me App Error 523 how do I fix this.I have taken the battery out etc and when ever it starts up it still gives me the above error
hi can some i just tried to update my bb curve and then went to reboot it and when almost done i get an message saying app error 200 and then it just does it all again how do i get past this.
I just picked up a Samsung Strive and installed Google maps. The "my location" function is active but says it is "temporarily not available".Now, according to the specs this phone has a GPS, but I can't find any GPS related setting in the menu.Does anyone more know any ways to fix this?
