Samsung :: Strive SGH-a687 / 'My Location' Temporarily Not Available
Jul 9, 2010
I just picked up a Samsung Strive and installed Google maps. The "my location" function is active but says it is "temporarily not available".Now, according to the specs this phone has a GPS, but I can't find any GPS related setting in the menu.Does anyone more know any ways to fix this?
I was at an AT&T store about to purchase the Strive when the sales rep told me that the conversational text only works if the other party also is using the Strive. Is that correct? Seems dumb if it is.
Recently got unlock code from AT&T and unlocked my daughters Samsung Strive a687, so it could be used with a new value plan at T-mobile. Calls and TXT messages seem to work fine, but am unable to get the MMS or media net (internet) working.T-mobile tried to help, as did Samsung, but all they were able to do was a factory reset which caused her to lose all her stored files.Does anyone know how to setup the Strive, to access T-mobile's network features?I know how to get to settings and where to enter Network connection information, but have yet to find any settings that work. [code]
I've never been able to connect to FB Places on my BB. When I try to check in I get the message 'Your location is temporarily not available'In the options bit on the Facebook app the 'Share my location with Facebook' box is greyed out and I cannot click it.My GPS is turned on and I've tried a lots of forums to help but nothing works!
Is there a way to completely turn off the speaker temporarily on the SGS2? If I put it on vibrate or silent, and go into an app (or accidentally press the home button twice - damn that button!) it will still play the sounds. But..I don't want the speaker off all the time, just at certain times of the day.
I have searched for Galaxy S6 GPS problems in google, and I have noticed that some owners experience a lot of signal loss/searching in their phones. What I have found annoying in my case is that whenever the GPS signal is lost, Google Maps puts me in a wrong location that I have not been to for a while. I have lived in that location before, but I have since moved and no longer stay there. I have purchased the phone after moving.
After a bit of experimenting I came to the conclusion that the building I currently live in blocks the GPS signal, since whenever I am in the balcony/near a window I get a signal and I'm put in the correct location in Google Maps. As soon as the signal is lost, Maps automatically puts me in that old location. This has also effected Google Now where I'm given incorrect travel times, but not my weather location (set on current).
I have set 'Home' to my new location, I have also tried deleting my location history from google, tried a few GPS fixing apps, reinstalling Maps, and also installing other map applications like Here and Waze, which behave the same way and give me the same old location as my current.
At first I thought it could be a GPS hardware defect in the galaxy, but I turned on my old HTC One (M8) and it acted and behaved in the same way putting me in my old location. So it seems to me there's something in the Android OS perhaps since Here and Waze act in the same way. I also tested with the Maps app on iPhone 6 and it gave the correct location although not 100% accurately. So is there anyway I can make Maps at least remember my last location before signal loss?
It is also absurd that my laptop can pinpoint my correct location while connected on Wifi while my phone with GPS, wifi and cell network cannot, which in conclusion seems like an android bug or something with location history in my google account which as I said already tried deleting the whole history.
Also note that the GPS and Maps work perfectly fine whenever I'm outside the building and I have location discovery on GPS, Wifi and cell network.
How do I get the weather widget box (the one that shows the next 3 days) to stay on the location I want, I can touch it and then select perth but it always defaults to Sydney when on the home screen
I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted). Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".
So I checked my phone storage. phone memory: 1.97Gb Applications: 647mb Free: 247mb USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.
I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully. I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card). So this raises a few concerns:
1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory... 2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?! 3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.
I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.
Whenever I take a picture it saves to my cloud my email my Picasa everywhere how can I make it only save onto my phone and then if I want it to backup on the other accounts how can I manually do that? I'm tired of every picture I take save everywhere so then I have to go delete them all individually...
I have noticed that the searching location comes on and stays on even when location is turned off the only way I can stop is by turning location on then back of again. How do I fix that?
Can I use my current SIM card (on Orange) temporarily in my iPhone 4S, until I receive my new SIM on another network? I bought the phone last week from an Apple Store, and at the moment I am using it with no SIM inserted so its like an iPod Touch.
Protect doesn"t seem accessible on my Curve 9300. I get a message saying the Blackberry ID service is temporarily unavailable. the phone carrier is airtel (India) and I have reinstalled BB Protect about 8times with the same problem. The phone is personal and not on enterprice solution
I just tried to upgrade my 3gs to ios.5 and have a message saying the iphone cant be activated because the server is temporarily unavailable... also, although the sim card is inserted a message says it is not inserted ??? no idea what to get phone working again. help needed.
I changed the sim on my phone and ever since I have the blackberry protect highlighted on my phone. It says I need to log back in in order for my phone to be protected however every time I attempt to log in the message "The Blackberry ID service is temporarily unavailable".This has been going on for weeks now and my phone is not protected! Is there any reason it says unavailable?
Service temporarily unavailable. The constant message when you use the sirius app on a torch. Anybody know what is going on between blackberry and siriu?.
I've tried lots of things and still no joy. Basically, my 5800 (with v50.0 firmware) keeps losing my wlan - even when sat physically next to it. It doesn't lose connection (since it's not connected), it loses (apparently loses) the wlan signal but immediately finds it again - all whilst I am sat watching it within the connectivity->wlan page.I have sat there, with my laptop running a signal analyser, poling every 500ms and the router's signal doesn't drop at all, yet my phone is sat next to it and every so often it'll show my wlan go from "known" to "unknown" and the signal goes from 100% to none. 8/10 my phone will connect to my wlan for internet use or downloading emails, 2/10 it'll resort to contract WAP since it believes my wlan is unavailable. My wlan broadcasts on a channel that is not overlapped by my neighbours, and my laptop shows a constant 100% signal strength, regardless of other wlans that may or may not be broadcasting (those wlans that do occasionally appear are very weak, and the 5800's dropping doesn't appear to coincide with their temporary appearance).
The wlan is running in 802.11g mode, and is WPA protected. I have tried having no security on it, same problem. I have tried adding the MAC address to the router, same problem. My wife has the same phone, same firmware, and hers does the same thing - except at different times (it's not like the both drop sight of the wlan at the same time). It appears, though I can't be sure, that if I go in through the connectivity->wlan page and choose my wlan and "connect" to it, then it stays connected and never drops. Unfortunately, this isn't an acceptable work-around since I have configured my phone to periodically check for emails and I don't want to have to remember every time I come home to manually connect, etc.Can anyone please suggest a course of action or investigation for me to undertake, since this is really, REALLY starting to confuse me!
I am getting this error msg since a few hours now. i have not done anything different since the last time it was working fine. my phone is becoming unresponsive, i am able to recieve email and sms messages, even when the screen is locked, but i am not able to unlock the screen using the unlock button or the power button.I have rebooted and still facing the same issue. The phone told me that the modest app was unresponsive so it had to quit it. i have 1.6GB for installable applications memory.
I'm new to the BB world and have just setup my Torch to receive my work emails. Trouble is I only want this to happen when I'm away from the office. Is there a way to activate the receiving of emails when needed preferably by a couple of buttons and then to deactivate it when I'm at my work computer
I have brought sony xperia z2 in oman while taking photo camera is getting shutdown by showing msg" camera is temporarily shutdown for cooling". What is the reason?
I just got a backflip... when I first boot it it needs me to create a blur account while trying it fails with service is temp. unavailable and theres no way for me to enter the OS.do I have to wait until servers is ok again??
I had the option to switch my phone to silent for a period of time of my choice. After that the phone would switch back to normal. The benefit of this was that I could never forget to switch back to normal. For example at the beginning of a meeting with an estimated duration of 2 hours, I would program the phone to a 2 hours silent period and after that it would switch back to normal. This was so handy. Is that possible at my BlackBerry 9000?
My company has a Blackberry "Style Flip" 9670 for our sales-people traveling in Northern Canada in the Yukon area. This phone goes with whoever is going on that particular trip, however it has 5 different email accounts associated with it for the 3 users that share it.
I don't know if this is possible with a Blackberry or not, but we would love if there was an easy way to temporarily disable the email accounts that do not belong to the person carrying the phone at that point in time.
The way it is now, we have User A (2 email accounts), User B (2 email accounts), and User C (1 email account) sharing this phone. If 'User C' is presently up north and has the phone and sends an email to 'User A' and 'User B', the email is still received on the shared BB for both 'User A' & 'User B' and wastes a lot of precious bandwidth. The main dilema is the two users with multiple accounts on that phone receive a ton of emails daily. This means 'User C' may have 1 crucial email waiting to be received, but has to wait for all of 'User A' & 'User B's' emails to be received before getting the important email.
Is there a way without deleting the accounts each time to turn certain email accounts on and off?
Ive been trying to log-in to my blackberry onto Blackberry Protect, it will stay a while on Verifying email then it says: the Blackberry ID service is temporarily unavailable.I AM able to go to blackberry.com and on the top-right sign into MyBlackberry with no problem Also tried to download some Applications, when I get the screen to log on - keep getting ANother error. says email contains incorrect info. So I tried to register with a different email with Only letter and numbers...
I recently got the 9360 and I synced my old 9300 to it so all contacts, emails, texts, etc., went across. Since I've starttd using my new phone no emails have come through and every time I went on email setup it keeps saying 'the email application is temporarily unavailable try again later'. So in the end I did a security wipe but did a back up before. After the security wipe I went to email setup and again it read the same unavailable message, I then went to back up my phone and I cant even do that now!
Ever since I unlocked the bootloader on my nexus 6p and installed a custom ROM, I haven't been able to login to snapchat. It keeps saying "Your login temporary failed. Please try again later". I thought this was a snapchat problem and I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, tried different snapchat app versions, and even reset my password. No luck. I thought my snapchat account was locked, until I used my sister's iPhone and it logged in with no problems. Could this possibly be a snapchat security issue because my nexus 6p is unlocked/rooted?
