Oct 26, 2011Is there a way to completely turn off the speaker temporarily on the SGS2? If I put it on vibrate or silent, and go into an app (or accidentally press the home button twice - damn that button!) it will still play the sounds. But..I don't want the speaker off all the time, just at certain times of the day.

Feb 19, 2011I used to get emails on my blackberry curve (8520). I seem to remember getting emails from Blackberry (or maybe vodafone) saying I needed to click on a link or something to say I wanted to continue using the service (this happened about a year into using them). I never did this because at the time I was not longer using emails, so I just let it expire (or whatever).Anyway, I was wondering I would now turn the email address back on. I have tried setting up a new account (with the same email address), but it won't let me as that email address is still registered (obviously!). Anyone have any ideas how to do it? Also, my email password has changed since then. Will that make a difference?
Also, whilst I am here, on the top of my phone's screen on the top left hand corner (kinda central though!) I have a 1 with a black circle next to it with an arrow inside the circle point kind of downwards (about 8 o clock direction). Does anyone know what this is about and how to get rid of it? I seems to related to my Blackberry App World in the 'My World' section. It asks me for my email address and password, but obviously I don't have it set up. Pressing cancel won't get rid of it!

I keep getting emailed responses to a discussion I replied to, even though I've turned off "Automatically receive notifications for all discussions I reply to:" in my email preferences. I've private messaged two forum mods for help but they haven't responded, so I'll have to post this publicly. I'm getting about a dozen of these unwanted emails daily, and have run out of options for turning them off.

Sep 14, 2011I loved how my old iPhone made it easy to click on phone numbers, email addresses, and links in emails, texts, web pages, etc. especially when I wanted to click on an address to show it on the map. My Atrix has never done that. Until recently I thought it was just something I had to put up with.
However, I got so frustrated I finally went looking for an answer. Now it seems that my Atrix is supposed to work the same way, so I'm wondering what the problem is with mine. It gets phone numbers and email addresses in emails, but doesn't recognize addresses.
Is there a setting I'm missing, or do I have a problem? I'm using the Gmail app for email.

Nokia :: 5800 Temporarily Loses Wlan
Jul 29, 2010I've tried lots of things and still no joy. Basically, my 5800 (with v50.0 firmware) keeps losing my wlan - even when sat physically next to it. It doesn't lose connection (since it's not connected), it loses (apparently loses) the wlan signal but immediately finds it again - all whilst I am sat watching it within the connectivity->wlan page.I have sat there, with my laptop running a signal analyser, poling every 500ms and the router's signal doesn't drop at all, yet my phone is sat next to it and every so often it'll show my wlan go from "known" to "unknown" and the signal goes from 100% to none. 8/10 my phone will connect to my wlan for internet use or downloading emails, 2/10 it'll resort to contract WAP since it believes my wlan is unavailable. My wlan broadcasts on a channel that is not overlapped by my neighbours, and my laptop shows a constant 100% signal strength, regardless of other wlans that may or may not be broadcasting (those wlans that do occasionally appear are very weak, and the 5800's dropping doesn't appear to coincide with their temporary appearance).
The wlan is running in 802.11g mode, and is WPA protected. I have tried having no security on it, same problem. I have tried adding the MAC address to the router, same problem. My wife has the same phone, same firmware, and hers does the same thing - except at different times (it's not like the both drop sight of the wlan at the same time).It appears, though I can't be sure, that if I go in through the connectivity->wlan page and choose my wlan and "connect" to it, then it stays connected and never drops. Unfortunately, this isn't an acceptable work-around since I have configured my phone to periodically check for emails and I don't want to have to remember every time I come home to manually connect, etc.Can anyone please suggest a course of action or investigation for me to undertake, since this is really, REALLY starting to confuse me!
