BB Curve :: How To Turn Emails Back On

I used to get emails on my blackberry curve (8520). I seem to remember getting emails from Blackberry (or maybe vodafone) saying I needed to click on a link or something to say I wanted to continue using the service (this happened about a year into using them). I never did this because at the time I was not longer using emails, so I just let it expire (or whatever).Anyway, I was wondering I would now turn the email address back on. I have tried setting up a new account (with the same email address), but it won't let me as that email address is still registered (obviously!). Anyone have any ideas how to do it? Also, my email password has changed since then. Will that make a difference?

Also, whilst I am here, on the top of my phone's screen on the top left hand corner (kinda central though!) I have a 1 with a black circle next to it with an arrow inside the circle point kind of downwards (about 8 o clock direction). Does anyone know what this is about and how to get rid of it? I seems to related to my Blackberry App World in the 'My World' section. It asks me for my email address and password, but obviously I don't have it set up. Pressing cancel won't get rid of it!
