Mar 23, 2012It just works sometimes. In the most of the time in the most places the Maps cannot determine current location. if the compass show the latitude and longitude Is it because Beidou GPS run by Chlna government blocks iPhone or what?
I'm on China Mobile Easyown plus GPRS plan.

Apr 12, 2012I am using my Atrix 2 only on WiFi (I have taken out of sim Card) in a foreign country.Google Maps, News and Weather apps are not able to determine my current location.Also, the stock weather widget inaccurately determines the location. Also when I go to google.com and yahoo.com from my browser, it goes to the customized page of the foreign country. Also, the location is enabled for WiFi and disabled for GPS. Since, I only using WiFi, using GPS is not useful.

By default, a lot of stuff, directions, routes, info comes in Arabic language. Now, i am an expat living in UAE (like the other 90% of the population) and i do not read or understand Arabic. Jan 3, 2016I am not sure,but I think that before rooting and unrooting my Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos and installing a new firmware,with the power saving mode turned on,I could check for a weather information update without turning the location service manually on.
I suppose that the weather information service turned on the location service only for checking for weather information update automatically and then turned it off automatically again. And when I have pressed the weather update refresh button, it updated the weather information very fast. I would also like to add that the weather information,has been updating with no difference if the phone has been connected to a wi-fi network or 3G.
Is there a way I can get back that way of updating the weather information? That was only with the power saving mode turned on!

The problem is, I an in San Jose, CA. I know this is not the end of the world, but i would like to be able to fix it. My brother got his iPhone at the same time, but his location is correct. Also, i checked my map app, and it pinpointed my location correctly. My only problem is that it says im calling from a different location.

I've had it now for 4 days and absolutely love this phone.One thing I've noticed that I can't seem to find an answer for anywhere is that when data is being used there's a spinning gear that appears on the bar at the top. For the most part the location of that gear is between the 3G symbol and the clock, just left of centre. But I've noticed today for a few hours it was consistently appearing on the right side, just to the the left of the Battery indicator. And now it's back again between the 3G symbol and the clock.
Is there a reason for this location swap? Is it random or is something specific setting it that way?
