I'm new to the iPhone 4. I've had it now for 4 days and absolutely love this phone. One thing I've noticed that I can't seem to find an answer for anywhere is that when data is being used there's a spinning gear that appears on the bar at the top. For the most part the location of that gear is between the 3G symbol and the clock, just left of centre. But I've noticed today for a few hours it was consistently appearing on the right side, just to the the left of the Battery indicator. And now it's back again between the 3G symbol and the clock.
Is there a reason for this location swap? Is it random or is something specific setting it that way?
I have a 3gs that i jailbroke with jailbreakme.com a few weeks ago. today it froze and when i tried to restart it, it shows the apple logo with the spinning wheel and it just keeps spinning. What can i do if i dont want to restore it because it will upgrade my phone to 4.0.2 and i still want the jailbreak?

I did a jb Yesterday, After i tried to install a Tweak while installing my iPhone got crash and it not turning on any more. i tried with DFU mode also but no use.
I noted the past 2-3 days that my battery is dying really quick. It dies after being charged all night within 25 minutes. I also noticed that the wheel keeps spinning at the top of my screen between the time and wifi symbol. Is there a connection?
New iPhone 5S, I noticed a spinning wheel just to the left of the battery indicator. Any search on spinning wheel turns up threads about a spinning wheel next to the WiFi indicator, which is not the spinning wheel I'm seeing. Â
I've gone through my settings and disabled anything automatic and background thinking that the wheel was caused by an app processing data in the background but nothing seems to have worked. Of course my concern is that the phone is doing something and will effect either my data usage or the battery usage.Â
I think I may have found the issue with everyone's battery life... It seems that when your cellular data network is active your personal hotspot will constantly be doing something... Even if like me, you don't have that covered on your plan. I know that it's not actually set up because I can't see it on my other devices, but it's killing my battery SO fast... I found some temporary solutions like, resetting your netword settings, or turnin off your phone popping out the sim card then putting it back in and turning it on... But as soon as you disable the cellular data network or put your phone in airplane mode an then turn it back on... The personal hotpot will just keep spinning..
And I have been looking around for fixes and came across one person that said, "it's like a fridge when you open the door the ligh comes on and when you close it it goes off" meaning that when I look at the network tab it will spin, but when I'm not looking at it, it's actually doing nothing... This isn't the case cause I left it on one day just to check and:
With it off at 40%
Usage: 5 hours 20 mins
Standby: 20
With it on at 40%
Usage: 2 hours
Standby: 7 hours
As you can see, there is a significant impact on battery life
My iPhone 4s keeps shutting down (not powering off), the spinning circle shows up, cuts off phone calls, stops apps, etc., then the screen pops back up again as if nothing is wrong. Any know what causes this?
I have a Galaxy S5 and I love S-health but the phone is a bit too big for my taste for taking it to a run in the park so I'd like to buy a smart device that works with S-Health and can play music through a bluetooth headset, any device that can do this?
I'm a new DX2 owner and having several problems with the phone. First, When I reboot, any app I've placed on a home screen that has been moved to the SD card/media area comes up as the default settings icon (blue gear icon) but appear correctly in the app drawer. Second, When I record video it is pixilated and choppy on play back with parts of the video actually missing. I understand we're all waiting for Gingerbread and bugs may exist but, to me, the video issue is a real problem because it basically means I can't count on video working and therefore have to use another device (go XOOM) for video recording.
I had recently jailbroken my phone and it was working perfectly fine.
I download Installous from Cydia and installed many cracked apps (about 20). I was using one of them one day when all of a sudden, the iPhone froze.
I did a hard reboot and I turned it back on. All I saw after that was the apple logo, then the black screen before the password screen, and then the apple logo again with the spinning wheel. This pattern continued for a while. I tried several more hard reboots but the same problem continued.
I connected it to my computer and then tried turning it on and it worked for a while. I used the same app and the phone worked fine. However, when I locked my phone after that and tried to put my password in later, the phone froze. I did a hard reboot and the same pattern of logo, black, then logo w/ spinning wheel occurred.
Please help me. How do I fix this problem without doing an iTunes restore (I stupidly didn't back anything up.
Having problem after upgrading to IOS 5.1 and restoring from old backup on my iphone 3GS. The spinning wheel will keep on appearing and disappearing at the lock screen.
I know this is everywhere, but my case is different. I had problems with my lockscreen which never turned off. I went to another forum and asked for tips, they said to Reset All settings (not erase all content). I did that, and guess what, it is stuck in the apple logo and sometimes with the spinning wheel. Now I CANNOT go into DFU mode because I do not have a backup of anything and if I restore im screwed and all my apps, contact, etc. will go away. I have access to the iPhone system folders (iFunbox, diskaid, etc.)
I have noticed that the searching location comes on and stays on even when location is turned off the only way I can stop is by turning location on then back of again. How do I fix that?
I have an icon that I can find nothing about. I have an xperia play and right below the clock in the upper right hand corner is a flashing icon that looks like a gear. It's an AT&T phone and their logo is right in the middle of it. I contacted them first and their tech support is stumped as well and suggested that I come here but I can find nothing on this site either. Nothing in any video I've seen or in the manual. Tried pushing it, nothing happens.
Just upgraded from the Storm 1 to the Storm 2 and while everything seems to be ok, the "hourglass symbol" (not really an hourglass but more like 3 sticks at angles" keeps coming up in the middle of the screen.they sort of flash for a few seconds and then it goes away only to come back again a few secs later. Anyone know what is causing this? I didn't have this issue on my Storm 1.
My Bold 9700 keeps on freezing or has a clock spinning around for which I have to remove the battery to fix the problem. don't mention the fact that I might have too many apps installed as I don't and even if I did why should it be a problem? I have almost 20 apps on my iPhone and it never caused a problem wrt freezing or stalling.RIM should really up their game as Samsung and Apple will leave them so far behind in the market that it will be impossible to ever catch up.
I've just got a new z3 and am slightly frustrated with the messages. It's taking up to 15 seconds to open up a conversation, it took 8 seconds to open a conversation I started today with 18 messages in it.
Is this normal? I just get the spinning wheel with 'opening conversation'.I've coke from an iPhone and it only ever took time to open after a restart. If this isn't normal (I'm hopping it's not) hoew can i fix this?
have an old blackberry curve that has an almost constant spinning hourglass an any screen i am in. it is like it is doing a mini reboot, as it there is a pause if i try to open mail, but then it catches up. sometimes i have to pull the battery and reboot that way.
no software updates available, new radio shack battery, trackball brought back to life 7 or 8 times & still working.
All too frequently my BB 9900 touch decides to just flash up the spinning clock icon and be generally unresponsive. Similarly sometimes the phone refuses to wake up for a minute or two when the unlock button is pressed / having been in the holster etc.
Is there a way to start a competition that is something other than running, walking, cycling, elliptical or step machine? For example, if I'd like to create a competition for spinning, is there a way to do that?
I just got a new 9780 about 1 month ago--the phone battery is draining in 5 hours--I have changed the battery 3 times--upgrade software--and Yes Bluetooth and Wifi are off. Also I keep getting a spinning clock that can last 2 minutes?
