Galaxy S5 :: Separate Sounds For Messages / Notifications And Emails?
Apr 12, 2014
I am a newbie to Galaxy phones or android for that matter. I am trying to make my sounds for messages, emails, and notifications different but if I change the notification sound it changes all of them. If I change the messages sound it changes the notification sound also.
While I have figured out how to get the sound for individual contacts I cannot find the way to get this to work.
With the original Storm, I could separate my emails from my PIN and SMS messages. I just switched to the Storm2 and can't figure out how to do it with this operating system (5.0.0.320).
I want to prevent the "pop-up banners" from Google Hangouts from interrupting other programs and overlaying on top of the app that I am running. I still want my phone to vibrate when I get a notification from Google Hangouts.
I understand that there is supposed to be a menu choice under "Sounds and Notifications" called Interruptions. I do not have this choice.
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport and I am running Lollipop 5.0.
I just purchased the S5 and I am a little confused. I have vibrating on for notifications but when I get a notification the sound plays but no vibration. I have a different sound for texting and other notifications. When I get a text I get the vibration but not with any other notification. Vibration intensity is set all the way.
I am trying to figure out how to get my gf's G3 setup to allow separate notification sounds for different people. Is there a secret menu or a separate app needed?
Ive had no problems with my sgs2 since getting it apart from battery life being very poor and only lasting a day at work, so a friend told me to turn on the power saving, i cudnt get along with that as i like my phone bright and fast...so i turned it off.
Since doing this my emails no longer update unless i click refresh in the gmail app? im no longer getting notifications for new emails and i cant find any setting to stop this?
I hate being blasted with notifications when I'm jamming out lol. Will this ever be a feature for windows phone? Its damn annoying to have the music blasting and get a notification that will blow out ur eardrums -_-
I just spent an hour and a half talking with support through chat and level 2 support through Motorola's call center. The most recent update mentions that you've "Added Support to control Notification Volume along with Ringer Volume". I had assumed that this had fixed my problem that I had with this application, but was greatly confused when it didn't.I want an action to adjust my Ringer Volume and an action to adjust my Notification Volume. I want them to be separate settings, not combined. I have read multiple threads posted previously in this forum from people complaining that they need to have the volume of their notifications all the way up, or their ringer volume up while they are sleeping for work.As a Systems Administrator I want to be able to sleep at night. I don't want to hear pinging from people emailing me at 4 AM. I work for a company that has associates all over the world, so this happens regularly. I do however NEED to have my ringer volume up in case our equipment has issues at our DC.
I understand that you want to keep the application streamlined and as simple as possible, but it really will not cause confusion to have the same volume sliders that Android has within settings. It does not seem like it would be that difficult to add the 4 volume sliders for Media, Ringtone, Notifications, and Alarms. It would actually make MUCH more sense to users than it does now. (Especially considering I spent an hour and a half on the phone with support over a poorly worded update description)
Bought my 950 from AT&T. I use Office 365 and Outlook SMS calendar notifications (via Exchange) which are sent via carrier email to text.
On my Icon w/ a Verizon account, each notification nested within a single contact or send SMS number (was always "6245"). However, with AT&T I am getting each notification from a distinct number, such as "1 (410) 100-030," "1 (410) 100-031," "1 (410) 100-032," etc., and as per the attached (these messages are from RedOxgyen Outlook SMS that works the same as calendar notifications). It renders the calendar and other Outlook SMS functions useless, as it overwhelms my SMS inbox.
I have a new Bold 9650 running OS5. I have only 1 email account setup on my phone, its my work email, and its through Blackberry Enterprise. Whenever I open my "Messages" folder, ALL messages are shown (Emails/SMS/BBM). The only way to JUST see emails is to go to the "Inbox" folder, which is really annoying every time I want to JUST see my emails. Is there any way that I can set up a folder SOLELY for my emails? Or, can I make it that when I open up the messages folder only my email inbox is shown? I know it has something to do with the fact that I am using Enterprise for email and did NOT set it up directly through the Blackberry Email Setup.
My husband and I both purchased Blackberry Curve's 9300. He has a separate message icon on his phone for emails but I do not. how I can get separate folders for my emails?
When working from my computer and so not to have to go to my phone, is there an app. (that will sync with my phone app.) or method to receive and send texts from my computer. Will it have a pop-up box on my computer?
Will it also show and save the texts on my phone?I am on verizon with an S5. I use the standard messaging app on my phone.
HTC one S - all of a sudden I have no notification sounds. All the settings are correct and when I do trial run with sound I can hear it but when and actual call or text message comes in all I get is vibrate, I get no sound. What's up with that? I have turned off and on hoping to reset - no go.
al the profile settings are correct, just randomly one day - since two days ago - i dont get a text noise.I even turned my phone off all last night. this morning - no change?
Over the past couple of days, my phone (iphone 4) has been random vibrating and/or making various sounds. When this happens, there are no notifications. It will just sound or buzz for what seems to be no reason. Most of the time, my applications are not on. I have push on for my mail application, but that's it. The phone is in good condition, it's never been dropped or damaged in any way.
When I go to Menu > Settings > Sounds . . Under the heading 'Notifications', I do not have the option of a check box to turn off the notification sounds. All I have is a drop down menu entitled, "Notification Ringtone". Within this menu, I have the options "Android System", "Handcent SMS" and "Zedge ringtones". None of these allow me the option of silencing the phones notification sounds.
What is happening is that I'm getting a double 'notification' tone every time I get a text, and it's driving me crazy. I get an overall notification beep from the phone, then a secondary tone from the Handcent app. And I really want to silence ALL of the phones overall notification sounds, and only receive the ones from the Handcent app when I get a text.
im just wondering how do i stop my spam messages showing in my e-mail folder??? i go to open up email and not only do i see my normal inbox mail but i see all the **** from my inbox and i recieve about 50 messages a day in my spam folder
How can i get my stock ringtones and notifications sounds back? Since I lost them I am unable to change my notification sound,it's really bugging me now and I don't want to factory reset my z2!
I performed a hard reset on my 1520 due to the camera freezing up on me after I pressed the shutter button. However, a new issue has arrived. Once I set up my phone again, using my most recent backup, I signed into all of my apps as usual, and then I found myself in Settings setting up my notifications sounds, banners, etc. But, the list was very short. The only apps in the list were the initial apps on the phone: messaging, phone, the email accounts, etc. Before I performed my hard reset, the notifications list included 6tag, Kik, and every other app that had notification abilities. Now, they are gone.
I have 8.1 on my 1520 and use my Bluetooth headset 97% of the time. I leave it connected all the time and noticed that I do not hear audible incoming text messages, e-mail alerts etc....... The alert sounds come through the Bluetooth headset, so just because I have my Bluetooth connected to my 1520 doesn't mean that I wear my headset all the time, so if I'm not wearing the headset a text message for example will come in and play the alert through the headset but I won't hear it obviously, so I have to check my phone periodically to see if I have text messages or e-mails that have come in.
My wife has even complained that I don't respond to her text messages right away the way I use to when I had my Note 2. On the Note my Bluetooth would be connected just like I do with my 1520, but the sounds/alerts would still be through the phone and audible for me to hear unless I put the phone on silent. Is this an oversight on MS part? Or just something that'll be fixed when the official 8.1 update rolls out???
Why does everything come through the mail icon and through the messages icon? It doesn't make sense. All I want when I click the envelope is e-mail. I found a post on here that sounded similar to my problem but I my phone doesn't have the same menu options. It is a 9330.
I have a quick question and I have searched and cannot find what Im looking for. I appologize ahead of time for being a NOOB. Is there anyway to separate texts by contact? My BB shows every text thats been sent. Im wanting to compress all these texts into individual lines per contact. For instance if someone sends me 10 texts, it shows them all instead of 1 line for that particular contact.
I need to be able to have different notification sounds for my Yahoo mail and my Exchange mail. I am using Go Launcher Ex if that makes a difference. I can't find any settings in either of these Email accts. to change the notification sound.
