Galaxy S6 :: Overheating While WiFi Tethering?
Jul 26, 2015My Samsung Galaxy S6 is new and I am using a root wifi tether. It gets extremely hot (attached picture with CPU-Z with temperatures). Is this typical?
What should I try? Factory reset/turn in phone, or are there other things I should try?

Jul 30, 2015I thought it was very strange that after taking home my new Galaxy S6, that when I prompted it to connect to my personal password protected (WPA/WPA2) Wi-Fi, that it connected with no problems and never asked for a password.
That prompted me to check the security for my Wi-Fi, which is still in place. I use the Cisco Linksys EA6300 for my Wi-Fi. I have always been prompted for a password when first connecting. Maybe it was me signing into my Google account? Maybe it stores Wi-Fi passwords?
Galaxy S6 :: WiFi Connected In Notification Panel?
Apr 10, 2015This is the first time I've used a Samsung phone in a while, and I've noticed that when I'm connected to WiFi I have a permanent notification saying, "WiFi Connected" in the notification panel. There's no way to dismiss it, and I can't seem to find a system setting to prevent the notification from appearing. Is this just how TouchWiz is, or am I missing a setting somewhere to turn it off?

Aug 29, 2015- My s6 Egde connects to wifi but no Internet connectivity, while 4G works without any issues.
- No problem from the Wifi end because I've another phone and it connects just fine over wifi.
I have hade som problems with my Wifi before using my Iphone that forced me to restart the wifi on my Iphone, but it worked when i did that.
I tried to restart my router, modem and phone wich made it work but not for long. So the issue is that it connects fine to the Wifi but i dont have any internet.

May 2, 2015So I have noticed every since lollipop update, whenever someone else connects to the router my internet stops loading on Galaxy S5, this did not happen before lollipop, also I own a iPad mini and iPhone 5c and they both work fine as well, so I'm sure the problem it's with the GS5.

Nov 23, 2014I've never had a problem connecting to my home wifi, everything was working fine on Friday, I left the house, went to my girlfriends and my phone connected to her wifi without a problem as usual. I returned home on Saturday and my S5 failed to connect to my wifi, I connected it manually and it connects and disconnects almost instantly. I have 5 other devices including a samsung galaxy note 4 in the house which all work perfectly fine. I've tired switching the router off and on again and that makes no difference, I removed the phone battery for 5 minutes and it then connects to the wifi for about 5-10 seconds then again disconnects, what else I can try....

Sep 22, 2015I recently moved off to college and for the first two weeks the WiFi worked great. Then all of a sudden the WiFi would say connected and strong signal but all of my apps would say check connection. I've been going over my limit on mobile data because of this and recently I went home for the weekend and the phone had no problem using my WiFi at home. Also anywhere on campus my laptop and old iPhone 4 get great WiFi service so the problem has to be with my S5.

Sep 25, 2014I have just upgraded from a galaxy S4 to S5 and I'm having big problems with receiving calls and SMS when I am connected to my home WIFI connection.
Only when I turn off wifi on my phone I start receiving the backlog of SMS messages.
Some times I can receive calls when connected to wifi but the SMS messages don't come through until I disconnect.
My wife has also just upgraded from a s4 to s5 but hers appears to be ok.
I have noticed that in more networks/mobile networks/network mode, my wife's gives options of 3G, 4g etc but mine says LTE/WCDMA/gsm which I though was strange as we are both on virgin mobile. I don't think this is the issue though as it's a wifi issue.
Galaxy S5 :: Should Mobile Data Be Used When WiFi Connected?
Oct 17, 2014My first smartphone is a Galaxy S5 and I use ATT as my provider.I have had the phone since it came out and for the first few months I was using low data. ATT called me and recommend I downgrade my data plan. I followed their advice and downgraded. Anyway, about three months ago my data usage that counts on my bill went through the roof. I haven't changed anything that I am aware.
I called ATT and they told me that Data usage counting on my bill will always take precedent over WIFI when I am connected to WIFI (like in my house). As an example if I watch a movie or listen to the radio with my smartphone at my house with my WIFI connected, then my data usage used for these services will count on my bill.
Do I automatically have to disable my mobile data everytime I connect to a WIFI in order NOT to be charged? I assumed that WIFI took precedent and that as long as WIFI was connected then the data used wouldn't count on my bill. If this is true, then is there anyway to have my phone automatically disconnect when I am connected to WiFi?

Jun 29, 2015- My s6 Egde connects to wifi but no Internet connectivity, while 3G works without any issues.
- No problem from the Wifi end because I've another phone and it connects just fine over wifi.
- Plus, I have to actually turn off the Mobile Data so wifi can even connect (still no Internet though).
- When Mobile Data is on, Wifi says "Ready to connect when network quality improves" but as mentioned before, no problem with wifi.

Jul 8, 2014I received a new Samsung S5 4 days ago and hadn't noticed until now that incoming calls weren't getting through, when I tried calling my mobile from a different number it was saying that the phone wasn't connected. Fix - re-seat the sim card - Worked for about 2 minutes and was successfully receiving incoming calls, then I noticed that every call I made to the mobile went to the answer machine so called Virgin mobile back. Fix - Go into settings and remove reference to LTE as follows (I am on a 3G contract)

. Select WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) – The default is 'LTE/WCDMA/GSM' and as I don't have LTE was told to switch this off
This fix worked for another 2 minutes, and then I noticed that every incoming call went to the answer machine, so I called back...
Fix - Turn off wifi
Incoming calls work fine now, and every time I turn on wifi they go to answer machine. It appears to be a little intermittent, but I can reproduce the issue fairly consistently when turning the wifi (in the settings) on and off.

Sep 3, 2015My internet connection on my Samsung Galaxy s5 shows that it is connected and strong - both at home and at work. However I cannot connect to the internet in either location.
I get a message that says DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET.
My laptop and other devices that connect to the WIFI are getting on the internet just fine. This problem just started this morning. I re-booted my router at home but that did not work. I eliminated my home network and then re-connected to it, but that did not work.

When I enable Mobile Hotspot or share the connection through USB, the other devices connect just fine, but no data is received at all.
* Tested with both a laptop and another phone
* To rule out carrier restrictions, I put the SIM in a Nexus4 and enabled Wifi tethering, then connected to it with the S5, works np, just not the other way around.
Samsung Galaxy S II :: WiFi Hotspot Function Switched On / Connected But Not Working
Jul 17, 2011I've got my S2 now for maybe 2 weeks now and only now I noticed that my Wifi hotspot function is not working. I tried that with 2 different SIM's (in different countries) with the same result. Tethering via USB works fine. I can switch on the wifi hotspot (open or secured) and I can even connect to it. On my Win7 machine I have a connection for a few moments, after that I lose connection and at the end I lose connection to the wifi hotspot.
On my blackberry I can connect the first time. That connection stays open for maybe a minute. After that it automatically disconnects and I cant connect anymore until i restart the hotspot. When I switch off the hotspot it takes a long time and it ends with error (the status under wifi hotspot). If I just enable hotspot and disable it again it is without errors. So this seems only to happen when a client actually connects... I tried already a factory reset and read somewhere to enable bluetooth before enabling the hotspot, but the problem stays the same ...

Dec 30, 2014i have a problem with my galaxy S5 ATT. so im using Netgear wireless n-150 router WNR 1000,its updated,but the problem was before the update and after the update it is the same. i'm using yahoo,gmail and comcast emails.i was able to setup yahoo email without any problems,i can send and receive emails from my phone when connected to wifi and without wifi. but i wasnt able to add to that stock email app my gmail account and comcast while i was connected to my wifi.it gave me error that it wasnt able to connect to the server to verify information.
So I tried to set it up on the mobile network and there was no problem. so now when i connected to wifi in my house i cant receive emails or send them using gmail and comcast email,yahoo account is working fine. i checked all the settings,i reset the router,still nothing.the funny part is if i download gmail app it is working without any problems.and if i connect to any other wireless router,all 3 emails work. also when i connect to my wifi, I'm getting internet and i'm able to open pages without any problems. So it should be some settings in the router probably ...

Apr 19, 2012My iPhone is on the Bell network, along with 3 other iPhones in my household. We have WiFi and the phone indicate that they are connected to the WiFi when we are in the house. However, my bill from Bell indicates several instances where the phones (all 4 at different times) are connected to the 3G network for 24+ hours at a time. Additionally, it shows the phone connected twice during that time period (as though there were 2 different sessions at exactly the same time, but with differing amount of data connected)
The explaination that Bell gives me is that there are 'minimized' applications still working on 3G even though the phone says it is on WiFi, and that each of these opens its own 'connection'My understanding of cell technology is that the phone can only access one method of Internet connectivity at a time, and that it can be explained as a 'pipe' or 'straw' carrying connectivity and all of the data. I have never heard of a phone that can access two different types at the same time, nor one that uses separate 'sessions' at the same time of either type of connectivity.
I would assume that I turn on my phone in the morning and I am in my house, it indicates WiFi, so I can browse the web, collect my email and update my Facebook on that 'session' that lasts 4 hours until I leave the house. Now my 3G kicks in and the email that I still have open now collects through the opened 3G session, as well as the page I left open downloading something.When I get to work and enter my WiFi area there, the session would then collect my email through WiFi again, and my download as well.

Nov 17, 2015Yesterday, a small amount of water hit my phone/screen. Honestly, it didn't seem like enough that could get in and do damage. But I didn't realize it, so it sat there for a little bit before I saw it and wiped it down. Worse things have happen to my phone and it wasn't harmed, but this is the only reason I can think for it to be acting this way.
Anyway, I plug it into my charger and it starts going wonky. Kept disconnecting and connecting to the charger (even though it was staying plugged in), then it said it was conencted to the dock, (don't have one), then it enabled some power sharing mode, how. Just got all wacky. then it started disabling things because the battery was overheating.
I blew into the open ports with a small lawn blower and let it sit. It's still not acting right today. If I turn the phone back on, it will eventually start to over heat again. I noticed my backlight capacitive buttons keep lighting up as if the screen in being touched. If I open an app, the app opens then goes away as if the back button is being touched. So I can't exactly open anything!
