Jul 17, 2011I've got my S2 now for maybe 2 weeks now and only now I noticed that my Wifi hotspot function is not working. I tried that with 2 different SIM's (in different countries) with the same result. Tethering via USB works fine. I can switch on the wifi hotspot (open or secured) and I can even connect to it. On my Win7 machine I have a connection for a few moments, after that I lose connection and at the end I lose connection to the wifi hotspot.
On my blackberry I can connect the first time. That connection stays open for maybe a minute. After that it automatically disconnects and I cant connect anymore until i restart the hotspot. When I switch off the hotspot it takes a long time and it ends with error (the status under wifi hotspot). If I just enable hotspot and disable it again it is without errors. So this seems only to happen when a client actually connects... I tried already a factory reset and read somewhere to enable bluetooth before enabling the hotspot, but the problem stays the same ...

Mar 16, 2011My xperia x10 phone had been working just fine when i connect wireless connections at the airport, libraries n elsewhere. But now I'm having some weird problem where my phone is connected to the wireless but it just won't let me surf the internet or just simpy open my twitter.
I've checked:
1. Amount of bar for the connection: just doing fine, at least it says good connection.
2. My mobile networks: in network mode>> WCDMA only, which I have several time open my internet browser without any fail until now.

Apr 21, 2012my iphone 4 (verizon) is connected to my home wifi but it's not working! when i go on Internet is says that it cannot connect, same with any other app that requires internet. it has the wifi symbol and everything. what's weird is that when i turn off my wifi (then 3g symbol replaces the wifi symbol) i am able to connect perfectly! i've tried all i can think of to fix this. restoring, rebooting, turning off and on again, forgetting my network then connecting to it again but nothing works!

Jun 25, 2014I own an iPhone 3GS, and have recently upgraded it to iOS 6.1.6. I was able to connect to Wi-Fi using a Netgear Cable Modem with WiFi capability. But the internet service provider upgraded this equipment, replacing it with an ARRIS Touchstone Data Gateway DG1670 cable modem with Wi-Fi capability. Unfortunately, I have discovered that I'm unable to access the Internet while connected to Wi-Fi, while using my iPhone 3GS, running iOS 6.1.6. I am completely able to connect my MacMini, a smart-TV, and an iPhone 5 to this ARRIS device with Wi-Fi. Â
I have contacted my internet service provider and they tell me that the problem is with my iPhone 3GS, not with their equipment. We very meticulously went through all the troubleshooting steps, but to no avail. I have also read all the Apple Knowledge Base articles here about configuring an iPhone 3GS properly, and I have also followed Apple Knowledge Base articles concerning optimal configuration of an internet modem with Wi-Fi capability. Â
I like my iPhone 3GS, it works well, but now I cannot sync it to iCloud, and now I must have Wi-Fi turned off to make it usable. I also understand that iOS 6.1.6 will be the last upgrade for the iPhone 3GS. If this is true, then I'm sadly disappointed with Apple's inability to keep up with technology.

Aug 6, 2011I have a new Galaxy S2 that I am totally delighted with (apart from the rather poor wifi signal reception, but that's not really a problem for me).I've noticed a strange thing though (and I don't know if this matters at all because everything still seems to work). When I connect my Galaxy up to my PC, it used to look something like this:(This is not my image, but it's the best I could find.) Basically, it used to say connected and show a picture of a USB connector.Now, for some strange reason, my S2 does not do that. When I connect up with USB, I still see the normal home screen and can navigate around as normal, at the same time as using Kies or accessing the S2 from my PC.Does anyone know why this is? Do other people's S2's behave like this, or do you all still see the USB image on screen?

I am stationed in Afghanistan and purchased this unlocked version. I am using a Local carrier (Roshan). Everything works great once I sorted a couple of minor issues except I cannot get the wifi to come up. I can connect to wireless routers and says "connected". But the wifi is still grayed out and I am unable to use it (wifi) for anything or register the phone. I would like to be in a situation where the wifi will work independent of the sim card installed.

That prompted me to check the security for my Wi-Fi, which is still in place. I use the Cisco Linksys EA6300 for my Wi-Fi. I have always been prompted for a password when first connecting. Maybe it was me signing into my Google account? Maybe it stores Wi-Fi passwords?

I returned home on Saturday and my S5 failed to connect to my wifi, I connected it manually and it connects and disconnects almost instantly. I have 5 other devices including a samsung galaxy note 4 in the house which all work perfectly fine. I've tired switching the router off and on again and that makes no difference, I removed the phone battery for 5 minutes and it then connects to the wifi for about 5-10 seconds then again disconnects, what else I can try....

Then all of a sudden the WiFi would say connected and strong signal but all of my apps would say check connection. I've been going over my limit on mobile data because of this and recently I went home for the weekend and the phone had no problem using my WiFi at home. Also anywhere on campus my laptop and old iPhone 4 get great WiFi service so the problem has to be with my S5.
