Eseries / Communicators :: Can't Switch E72 From Offline Mode To Any Other Mode
Aug 26, 2011When I go to Offline mode I can't switch back to any other mode without having to remove the battery of my E72. I can't even switch off the phone as it freezes. This issue started when I installed the first phone software update last year. Yesterday I installed the latest software but the problem persists.

Feb 28, 2011I have recent bought a nokia e5 and it keeps randomly moving itself to offline mode and then when i try to put back onto any other profile it says 'insert sim card'. I have of course many times removed the battery and sim card, turned the phone off for a while, left the battery out but nothing seems to work. I took the phone into phones for u where i got it from and of course as soon as i passed it over to the man behind the till he said 'look you just need to change it to a different profile'. It worked fine for him but now when i do that it does not recognise the there is a sim card in there. When i explained that this keeps happening and i can not seem to get it off oflfine mode (this does not allow me to make calls, text, accept calls or text so therefore its useless) he says there is nothing he can do as he has not seen the fault.

May 7, 2010Just wondering, is the radiation reduced in offline mode? Presumably because there's no broadcasting of signals? Will it make a difference if the FM radio is used? Logically this will cause an increase in radiation albeit lower than in online mode.

Oct 11, 2011My N8 is stuck in offline mode. I have tried changing the profile, hard resetting, factory reset, another sim in my phone, my sim in another phone (both of which worked fine in other phone).I should also say that the phone had a fault before this. The battery ran dry and would not charge, I contacted my mobile company (virgin mobile) and they told me to send my phone in.
I received my phone back saying they could not fix the fault and it was not covered by the warranty. I tried to turn it on last night and it switched on, great I thought and put my sim back in but nothing. I checked the sim slot on the side of the phone and I can see that all the pins are fine and not bent or have been moved in any way.

Aug 7, 2012I just bought the 808 PureView in a German electro-hardware store (Saturn). There the phone was in offline mode as it didn't have any micro-SIM. No biggie. However, I got home and inserted my micro-SIM and tried to use the phone but it doesn't recognize the micro-SIM!
I've tried the SIM in other phones (Nokia and other brands) and it works but not in the 808. It is like the phone is stucked in "Offline" mode and I can't make it change: not from the Profiles page (to make it Active), not by pressing the On/Off button and selection "Turn offline mode off", not re-starting it with and then without the SIM and then with the SIM inserted, not "Restore factory settings" not "Delete memoru and restore factory settings"!
Eseries / Communicators :: E7 SMS Sometimes Stuck In Outbox As Deferred
Sep 22, 2012Brand new E7 with all updates done and running Belle. Phone works great with very little issues. Emails work fine. Calls and everything work fine. But sometimes SMS get stuck in outbox as deferred and does not send them even after the time to resend hits. This happens about 3 to 4 out of 10 messages. If it deferred and then actually sends the message when its suppose to, I wouldn't care so much. I've yet to have a deferred message sent yet I can click on it and press send and it goes.

Apr 8, 2011E7 would need a mechanical call disconnection button (could be programmed e.g. for on/off-button??), as the touch screen every now and then gets stuck and you're not able for example to end the call. Especially when you don't want to leave a message to a voice mail and the phone just keeps on going there's gonna be several f-words in the voice mail.

Sep 25, 2012So I am having a very strange problem. I have been using the Situations App (formerly Nokia Situations) to automatically put my phone into offline mode, and power saving mode over night. 9pm to 6:30am.Recently the phone as started refusing to leave the offline mode in the morning. Even if I try to change the profile manually it says "Unable to change profile". The only way I can get out of offline mode is to reboot.I uninstalled Situations, and manually put the phone into offline mode and power saving mode. By the morning I had the same issue, stuck in offline mode until reboot. So it's not the App causing the problem. I've tried a soft reset, same problem still.
I also noticed that over-night (from fully charged before 9pm) to 6:30am I used about 70% of my charge. (A combination of power saving mode and offline mode is killing my battery!)I would have to go to work and immediately put my phone on charge! I.e.. 12 hours of offline + power save has drained my battery almost completely.Last night I decided to use the Situations App to put the phone into offline mode, BUT NOT activate power save mode.This morning the phone had virtually full charge and it had no problem returning to online mode.So it's ONLY if I use BOTH power-save and offline. (Tonight I will try using power-saving mode and NOT offline mode to see if it's only the power-saving mode causing the issue!)If I manually enter offline+power-save mode, and then try to return to on-line/non-power-save mode, relatively quickly, i.e.. Not over-night, everything is fine. It's only over night the problems start!

Nov 5, 2011I bought an E6-00 just one and a half month ago. Although its operating system kept restarting itself since the first time I bought, I did not care much about that as the phone was running ok after restarting itself. However, it finally gave a disk error yesterday and stuck in its main desktop screen. Then I turned the device off and when I turned it on again, it is stuck in the initial white screen where a Nokia logo was supposed to appear. Nothing happens then; the white screen persists until the battery is empty.

Jun 3, 2012You all may know E-series (and my E55) is bundled with NCPIA (Nokia PC Internet Access) software which allows us to use our phone as (3G) modem to connect PC to the internet. I installed it to my XP SP2 machine and here is main problem: You CANNOT change DNS permanently and won't take effect, after you change manually through dial-up connections > Networking > TCP/IP Properties , the changes you made will be reverted back to "automatic" by NCPIA in dial-up connection properties (TCP/IP properties) at next connection.

Feb 15, 2010I installed a 3rd party GPS app, and after a few moments toying with it, it did not load the map so I uninstalled it.After restarting, I noticed that my phone has no signal and it reboots every now and then until there's a signal... long story short, it reboots unti it gets a signal from carrier..After it does get a signal, I tried dialing a number and I get disconnected after 2 seconds and text messages does not send...I have read other forums that it may be a carrier problem (i doubt) but anyway I followed the instruction and it worked as of this writing..The instruction was to disable Dual Mode and set it to GSM Phone > Network > set Dual Mode to GSM I can now make calls and send and receive SMS... BUT still I want to make the Dual mode working again pre installation of the GPS software..I tried to reinstall 23.002 fw but it looked like it was just a reinstall of some of the FW not reflashing the entire phone.. hence the same apps and settings are still there..Is there a way to restore this to factory firmware? Or I need to wait for another update?

Aug 21, 2011Yesterday was my first day trying to use my new E7 as my primary phone. I am having a major problem where the phone is stuck at the white nokia log boot screen and it keeps restarting.
In the days before, I updated from the original 13.x firmware to 14.002 though the ovi suite. After about an hour of usage yesterday, I opened the on phone ovi store application and it said an update was required before I could use it, so I let it update OTA. After the update, I opened the application and tried to get Angry Birds Free. The download started, then I pressed an in app button to do something else in the mean time and the phone froze up during the screen transition. Restarted with 8 second power cycle. Back into the ovi store to continue the download, this time the phone restarted on its own halfway through the download. Back into the ovi store a 3rd time to continue the download, phone froze up. Restarted with 8 second power cycle. Wouldn't get past the boot screen.
Yesterday I was able to get the phone to connect to my computer and I attempted to reinstall 14.002 firmware 2x, which seemed to work but I was still stuck. I was able to call Nokia Customer Care and the support person tried some of the same things I did. Then without a sim card in the device we connected to my computer, tried to reinstall firmware, it complained about no sim card. I put an old non-working sim in the device and the home screen came up all of a sudden. So it appeared to be fixed.
I'm back to the same issue today, only now my computer won't connect to the phone. I've tried 10 times. Once it connected but only as a storage drive, not to Ovi Suite.

Apr 1, 2011I am trying to install a software uodate on my E72 using Ovi Suite. I have not updated before. My phone is connected to my PC with a USB. I am using Windows XP. Ovi appears to have identified relevant updates and backed up the data on my phone. Ovi suite states that it is preparing to install. It has been like this for 4 hours. There is a warning not to disconnect the USB or switch off the phone or the phone may stop working. When I try to close Ovi suite it says it cannot be closed because it is busy. There is no option to cancel the install. My only options appear to be to shut down the PC or unplug the cable. Wish I had not started on this process.
