I just got my new E6, need to know two things.
1. What is widgets in offline/online mode.... What's d difference
2. How Can I import my external mail contacts like from gmail.
When I go to Offline mode I can't switch back to any other mode without having to remove the battery of my E72. I can't even switch off the phone as it freezes. This issue started when I installed the first phone software update last year. Yesterday I installed the latest software but the problem persists.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recent bought a nokia e5 and it keeps randomly moving itself to offline mode and then when i try to put back onto any other profile it says 'insert sim card'. I have of course many times removed the battery and sim card, turned the phone off for a while, left the battery out but nothing seems to work. I took the phone into phones for u where i got it from and of course as soon as i passed it over to the man behind the till he said 'look you just need to change it to a different profile'. It worked fine for him but now when i do that it does not recognise the there is a sim card in there. When i explained that this keeps happening and i can not seem to get it off oflfine mode (this does not allow me to make calls, text, accept calls or text so therefore its useless) he says there is nothing he can do as he has not seen the fault.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA few months earlier I went to Nokia care because my phone had an issue. The problem was not fixed, and my phone was replaced by another Nokia E5. In this phone whenever I try to uninstall some apps an error message "Removing cancelled" is appeared, and the app is not uninstalled. Following seven apps are problematic:
1. Twitter
2. MySpace
3. Bloomberg
4. AP Mobile
5. Chat Apps
6. Hi5
7. Friendster
I uninstalled these apps in my old phone without any problem. I have reset the phone many times, and I have the latest version of the firmware.
After installing the Symbian Belle latest updates on these phones, most of the Widgets lost their colors. Now most of them are only in white. (I have 2 of these for the moment)Although it does not had an impact on the functionality, it sure would look much better if the Icons / widgets are getting their colors back as in the Anna version.

Is it possible that GPRS connect only the time at which we specified e.g. after 30 minutes.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have observed a weird behavior of the latest Nokia Social. When I quit the application, the phone does not go offline permanently. In fact, the connection is terminated for about a second and reinitiated instantly. This behavior seems to be infinite. Terminating the connection in the connection manager does not keep the phone offline, since the connection is reinitiated instantly. The only way to revert the phone in a normal offline state is to restart it.
I have reinstalled the application - no luck.
I have observed this issue after running an update on both Symbian (Anna update) and the Social app. I am not sure, if this is somehow related to Symbian Anna.
It would be helpful to see if the problem can be reconstructed with and without the new Symbian Anna.
This issue makes the Social app quite useless, since I don't want to restart my phone every time after running it and I do not want to drain my battery with the reconnection orgy neither.

I have been using the Situations App (formerly Nokia Situations) to automatically put my phone into offline mode, and power saving mode over night. 9pm to 6:30am.Recently the phone as started refusing to leave the offline mode in the morning. Even if I try to change the profile manually it says "Unable to change profile". The only way I can get out of offline mode is to reboot.I uninstalled Situations, and manually put the phone into offline mode and power saving mode. By the morning I had the same issue, stuck in offline mode until reboot. So it's not the App causing the problem. I've tried a soft reset, same problem still.
I also noticed that over-night (from fully charged before 9pm) to 6:30am I used about 70% of my charge. (A combination of power saving mode and offline mode is killing my battery!)I would have to go to work and immediately put my phone on charge! I.e.. 12 hours of offline + power save has drained my battery almost completely.Last night I decided to use the Situations App to put the phone into offline mode, BUT NOT activate power save mode.This morning the phone had virtually full charge and it had no problem returning to online mode.So it's ONLY if I use BOTH power-save and offline. (Tonight I will try using power-saving mode and NOT offline mode to see if it's only the power-saving mode causing the issue!)If I manually enter offline+power-save mode, and then try to return to on-line/non-power-save mode, relatively quickly, i.e.. Not over-night, everything is fine. It's only over night the problems start!
The E72 model goes into silent mode by itself and calls go unnoticed.

I installed it to my XP SP2 machine and here is main problem: You CANNOT change DNS permanently and won't take effect, after you change manually through dial-up connections > Networking > TCP/IP Properties , the changes you made will be reverted back to "automatic" by NCPIA in dial-up connection properties (TCP/IP properties) at next connection.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed a 3rd party GPS app, and after a few moments toying with it, it did not load the map so I uninstalled it.After restarting, I noticed that my phone has no signal and it reboots every now and then until there's a signal... long story short, it reboots unti it gets a signal from carrier..After it does get a signal, I tried dialing a number and I get disconnected after 2 seconds and text messages does not send...I have read other forums that it may be a carrier problem (i doubt) but anyway I followed the instruction and it worked as of this writing..The instruction was to disable Dual Mode and set it to GSM Phone > Network > set Dual Mode to GSM I can now make calls and send and receive SMS... BUT still I want to make the Dual mode working again pre installation of the GPS software..I tried to reinstall 23.002 fw but it looked like it was just a reinstall of some of the FW not reflashing the entire phone.. hence the same apps and settings are still there..Is there a way to restore this to factory firmware? Or I need to wait for another update?

But today even though the computer is up and running the phone shows it as offline. Here's where it gets weird, if I use web acess from my PC I can see my files. After signing out if I log in using web access from my laptop or phone, it shows the PC offline.

The first problem is video. I can't watch either online or offline videos. When I try to watch a video it looks like a slideshow. It just shows one frame per 2-3 seconds. The strange thing that audio in video keep works fine.Â

If I switch my Network mode to 3G the phone will begin to randomly restart. If I set it the Network mode to GSM the phone works fine.
