I have a problem with My Nokia E5.I tried to update it, All files downloaded successfully but when it reached "installing device software" (About 15 minutes total) it's stuck there for 2 hours!

I am trying to install a software uodate on my E72 using Ovi Suite. I have not updated before. My phone is connected to my PC with a USB. I am using Windows XP. Ovi appears to have identified relevant updates and backed up the data on my phone. Ovi suite states that it is preparing to install. It has been like this for 4 hours. There is a warning not to disconnect the USB or switch off the phone or the phone may stop working. When I try to close Ovi suite it says it cannot be closed because it is busy. There is no option to cancel the install. My only options appear to be to shut down the PC or unplug the cable. Wish I had not started on this process.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday was my first day trying to use my new E7 as my primary phone. I am having a major problem where the phone is stuck at the white nokia log boot screen and it keeps restarting.
In the days before, I updated from the original 13.x firmware to 14.002 though the ovi suite. After about an hour of usage yesterday, I opened the on phone ovi store application and it said an update was required before I could use it, so I let it update OTA. After the update, I opened the application and tried to get Angry Birds Free. The download started, then I pressed an in app button to do something else in the mean time and the phone froze up during the screen transition. Restarted with 8 second power cycle. Back into the ovi store to continue the download, this time the phone restarted on its own halfway through the download. Back into the ovi store a 3rd time to continue the download, phone froze up. Restarted with 8 second power cycle. Wouldn't get past the boot screen.
Yesterday I was able to get the phone to connect to my computer and I attempted to reinstall 14.002 firmware 2x, which seemed to work but I was still stuck. I was able to call Nokia Customer Care and the support person tried some of the same things I did. Then without a sim card in the device we connected to my computer, tried to reinstall firmware, it complained about no sim card. I put an old non-working sim in the device and the home screen came up all of a sudden. So it appeared to be fixed.
I'm back to the same issue today, only now my computer won't connect to the phone. I've tried 10 times. Once it connected but only as a storage drive, not to Ovi Suite.

The update started and everything looked normal. I returned a few hours later and found a message on my PC that the istallation failed or was interupted. The phone was "frozen" with a black screen and not responding.

I understand from the Nokia web-site and elsewhere that there has been at least one subsequent fimware update (currently v. 22.014) with minor bug fixes. However, I don't get offered any such updates, either OTA using the E6's SW updater, or alternativeky via Nokia OVI suite (v. 3.1..1.90) on a Windows7 PC.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having problems in opening the Gallery contend: sound, pictures, videos.as soon as I try to open it, it stays as opening and after an hour of "opening", I have to remove the battery.I did twice hard reset. Formatted the memory card, and twice reinstalled the firmware 053.001 using Nokia software updater, still having the same problem. Firmware version is 053.001, E72-1, RM530. I cannot update to any recent firmware, it says that the phone is up to date.I do not understand the way this update works, some gets it some not. I think that any firmware is, or must be and improvement of the function of the phone for all I would like to update to the latest one, or at least the 081.003 which I have on different E72 and works well enough.

1) OVI store is not working. I am able to open ovi store and see apps but moment I click on download.. it just hangs there.I have tried installling QT files as mentioned in the forum I download QT files from Nokia which were in .sisx format. I am not able to install them either by directly copying in phone or via Ovi suite.I am getting Error 300.
2) Google Maps is not working. I have installed it multiple times. When I click on Google Maps to open it , a blank window comes and it closes automatically.

Over The Air, but there was no clear definition on how to do that, So I want to the other option, Nokia Ovi PC Suite. The download kept failing but it kept resuming when I tried to download the update again. After the download finished Usually you do not need the internet to install something that you already downloaded (Should Always Be Like That!!) So I thought that and while the update was installing Nokia Ovi PC Suite said something about Cannot Connect To Service, Although My Internet was PERFECT! and I tried to turn on my E63 and it would just vibrate and then turn off. I tried reviving it by leaving the battery out for 5 mins ( I also left it out for 6 hours) And when you turn it on Hold the Green Button Call And the 3 and the *. But none of that works, I wanted to send my phone to Nokia Care through Post But you need the IMEI but How can I do that?

After restarting I noticed that all my settings are gone. In my home screen by default all the icons, mailing and widgets are default, which was there when I bought the phone more than 6 months back. I really liked the old battery status so you would know how much battery life is left. It is just a bit weird that a very good thing from the previous version is discontinued on the belle version.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Nokia E71 which as I write is not responding to any of the keys. When I turn it on it boots up and then gets to the 'Set date' window, which I can't get past because it does not register me pressing 'OK'.
I think reinstalling the firmware will fix this, because before it stopped working it went through a phase of not working, and then working again, and then not.
The problem I have is that I can't select the 'PC Suite' on my phone when I plug it in because it won't let me press any keys. how I can get my computer to recognise that I have the phone connected, without having to select PC Suite on my phone?
I have been a Nokia E72 user since jan 11 and have been facing some problems with the phone. Initially the phone used to abruptly hang and would require the battery to be taken out & reinserted to start the phone. After the Firmware update the problem got reduced but now the phone hangs and automatically restarts. This is quite frequent & very irritating. I have tried the hard & soft reset but the problem still remains the same. The firmware that i am using is 054.005 / make - Malaysia.

The steps I've followed in the 3rd step fo update process (i.e. Install) are as follows with screenshots attached:
1. It checks for valid installation file (see attached "Installation file validation.png"). Since the update has been downloaded by it previously, it proceeds to next step.
2. It starts preparing to install (see attached "Preparing to install.png").
3. It show USB connection active screen with a windows notification saying "Nokia E63 disconnected via USB" is seen on "Install screen". (see attached "Install Screen.png" for "Install Screen").
4. Next with the same USB connection active screen, a windows notification saying "Nokia E63 connected via USB" is seen on "Install screen".
5. The windows notification disappears and the screen is still at the "Install Screen" (see attached "Install Screen.png").
6. Nothing happens even after waiting for a long time. Clicking "Next" repeats the above mentioned process from step 2.
Dialing "*#0000#" gives the following info:
