Eseries / Communicators :: Backup Not Working After Firmware Update Of Nokia E71?
Oct 21, 2012
I've backed up my phone on memory card and then updated firmware of E-71 Now the backup is not been backedup properly and can not retrieve SMS which were backed up.
My Nokia E6-00 is currently running firmware v. 021.014 (011-05-26, RM-609), which was on the device when first purchased (SIM free, unlocked). I understand from the Nokia web-site and elsewhere that there has been at least one subsequent fimware update (currently v. 22.014) with minor bug fixes. However, I don't get offered any such updates, either OTA using the E6's SW updater, or alternativeky via Nokia OVI suite (v. 3.1..1.90) on a Windows7 PC.
I am having problems in opening the Gallery contend: sound, pictures, videos.as soon as I try to open it, it stays as opening and after an hour of "opening", I have to remove the battery.I did twice hard reset. Formatted the memory card, and twice reinstalled the firmware 053.001 using Nokia software updater, still having the same problem. Firmware version is 053.001, E72-1, RM530. I cannot update to any recent firmware, it says that the phone is up to date.I do not understand the way this update works, some gets it some not. I think that any firmware is, or must be and improvement of the function of the phone for all I would like to update to the latest one, or at least the 081.003 which I have on different E72 and works well enough.
I've tried to update my E63 software using Nokia Suite v3.3.86 but in vain.
The steps I've followed in the 3rd step fo update process (i.e. Install) are as follows with screenshots attached:
1. It checks for valid installation file (see attached "Installation file validation.png"). Since the update has been downloaded by it previously, it proceeds to next step.
2. It starts preparing to install (see attached "Preparing to install.png").
3. It show USB connection active screen with a windows notification saying "Nokia E63 disconnected via USB" is seen on "Install screen". (see attached "Install Screen.png" for "Install Screen").
4. Next with the same USB connection active screen, a windows notification saying "Nokia E63 connected via USB" is seen on "Install screen".
5. The windows notification disappears and the screen is still at the "Install Screen" (see attached "Install Screen.png").
6. Nothing happens even after waiting for a long time. Clicking "Next" repeats the above mentioned process from step 2.
Dialing "*#0000#" gives the following info:
"500.21.009 02-06-2010 RM-437 (c) Nokia E63-1 (308.06)"
i want to update my nokia e75 via usb cable. actual firmware is 110.48.125 new firmware is 202.12.01
i tried it with *#0000# look for updates ... connection failed...
i have tried it even over ovi suite and nokia pc suite. firmware is downloaded to my pc. but during installation, i get following report; installation failed, check usb cable ....
if i transfer videos or pictures over ovi suite or nokia pc suite, i don"t have any problems. it"s working perfekt without breaking
I've been using my e72 for more than a year and had regular update of firmware from time to time. But recently i found it from the website that there are new firmware release on october and i try to update but it always stated that my software are the latest and there were no new updates for my phone. I had double checked that the software I'm using in 051.018 and I had checked the website saying the latest current firmware for e72 is 052.005 which came out on October, 2 months after the release of 051.018.
Did anybody try to update the new firmware 071.004 for E72? I tried to do that, but in the middle of the update process, it said that the internet was disconnected or check the firewall. And because of that, now my E72 won't boot up at all. Practically it is unusable now.
When I try to update the E72 firmware to latest version 071.004 through SW update in Control Panel it takes too long showing "Processing" and does not show download progress bar. Other updates such as Maps & Email have downloaded & installed fine.
I recently upgraded the firmware of my Nokia E71 to the latest version i.e. 500-21-009. I followed the instructions in Nokia site and took complete backup before upgrading and restored entire stuff after upgrade. Now, though my settings are intact as it was before upgrade and my operator (Airtel) also confirmed that my GPRS subscription is active, I can not connect to Web nor can check my emails. Whenever I attempt to browse, it gives an error message saying - 'Connection Not available'! In fact, I checked inserting my CIM card to another Nokia phone and could browse Internet with same GPRS settings as in E71.
I have (or better to say "had") a Nokia E66 and Nokia Software updater just completely and unrepairable (said by official service) destroyed my E66 few days after warranty ended. It is unbelievable! I was successfully using it every day until the software update. Software Updater wrote that cell phone is disconnected and I must reconnect it. I have done it many times but every time it failed. So I took cell phone to official service and they told me that they cannot flash it and only way to repair it is to replace mainboard. How is that possible? It worked very fine until software action! So I am supposed to throw my E66 to trash and buy another cell phone? Well, if yes, then not Nokia again. I want to own cell phone which is able to flash phone software without destroying whole phone!
I've used the Nokia Communicator since the 9000i, these phones take a beating and keeps on ticking. I dug forth my old Nokia e90 after my iPhone fetish disappated. However, I've never updated the firmware of my e90 and thanks to the Ovi software, I can't even though I want to.I've tried on three seperate machines and they all give me the exact same error message in both the Ovi suite and the Software Updater. (See attachments.)The three machines I tested it on are all Windows 7 32bits. I've been googling like a mad man and I see several others have had this issue with their phones. I've also tried every trick in the book (remove expired root certificates, disable firewall, restart twice, disable antivirus etc.) to absolutely NO avail.
my Nokia E7-00's same problem.my software is 111.040.1511tried every method 7370 7780 flashed with Nokia care suite reinstalled with Nokia suite.what can i do Nokia?with camera pro software camera has opened one time but when i pressed snap button gave me black screen then started to lag but when i tried to turn of my phone after few seconds left to turn off camera flashed.
i was updating my e63 yesterday to v400 and at about 2 min left, my software updater roze and the phone stuck at blank screen. i pressed green, 3 and * button as it was xplained in faq, and i was able to boot up my phone. now, few things are missing, ike tiger woods game, facebook, Internet applications. they have shortcuts but not on the phone, maybe something else, but this things are noticeable. i can live with it, but what i can't live is connecting this phone to pc and sync, and future updates. ftware updater won't recognize the phone anymore giving me error "unable to retrieve device information". i disconnected the battery, tried to reinstall ovi suite and software pdater, but nothing works. today i took my phone to work, and was trying to run ater on this computer with clean install (never had any nokia software on isachine). same error message "unable to retrieve device information". the updater suggest to install updater (done!), unplug the usb (done!), remove battery for 10 sec nothing seems to work. well, the phone still works, even though i lost wlan in one of the restarts, but overall the phone is functional. i made calls, sent messages, installed few applications, listening radio right now.
My Nokia E7 Breathing Light is NOT WORKING after Belle update. I've tried turning on and off the breathing light function under Setting>>Notification Lights however it is still not working. But the notification light is working for receiving SMS and missed calls only. Software Bersion: Belle 111.030.0609 with E7 Product Code: 059D0J2
This firmware have fixed very bugs. But one bug added with its new feature: when you have a new SMS or missed call, it appears the name and number of caller. But in right to left languages such as Arabic and Persian, it appears the name from left to right and is not readable.
okia recently released new firmware for nokia e72 but my firmware is still not updating and still is 052.005 while new firmware is 071.004... its not updating using both pc and OTA... and gives msg "no update available"

B and remains mr. A that must be updated to mr. B.But it is updated in my 7230 and 2626..
- the calender and the widget cause problems- ovistore "Own content" will not show after some days- ovistore crashes sometimes- e6 freezes sometimesModerator Note:Links removed. Please be advised that Nokia Support Discussion only accepts links written in English.
So this might be a little long winded, but it's just what I've been through so I cant' really condense it down anymore. So a few days ago now (almost a week) I received an SMS from Nokia telling me to update my phone firmware. I then hooked my phone up to my PC, and checked for software updates. I updated OVI Suite to the latest version, rebooted and then checked again. It found the update for my phone and asked if I wished to apply it. Naturally I said yes, it then told me I should backup my phone first, and then asked if I would like to do that now, which I said yes to, and chose to backup everything. It then downloaded the update, applied it, and then asked me to restore my phone, All of which appeared to work fine.A quick look through my phone to check everything and it all appeared normal, My custom theme was there, my facebook app was there, my contacts/photos/music were there. Oh but wait, I was missing my Sudoku game. A little odd, yes, but no worries I got that from the OVI store, I'll just be able to re-download it, because that's why you make purchases from app stores instead of publishers directly. No, apparently not. This game wasn't listed in my "My Stuff" tab in the OVI application. That's ok, I'll just download it from the SMS I was sent originally.
No. Not that either. The SMS link is no longer valid. So at a loss I decide to turn to technical support, I mean after all I have a technical issue I need support with.I e-mail technical support Basically telling them above. Then then ask for a transaction ID, which I have no record of (not sure why not?). I then provide even more information, ask them to escalate, ect. End result is, I don't get my game back. They have no record of me downloading this in the past, and for some reason it isn't available to download anymore.Frustrated, I e-mail the developer/publisher, explaining my situation. They respond promptly (within the hour), providing my with a link and SMS to download the application again, and apologise for Nokia's behaviour. Nice. I've now got my game back things are good again in my world. So with that little story in mind, I raise a few questions. Why was this application not backed up/restored with my phone backup? This seems like a pretty serious bug, especially considering that technical support won't provide download links for games or applications unless you can provide them with information provided by Nokia in the first place ( :s very round about).
My situation is pretty small in the whole scheme of things I guess. But if it can happen to me I guess it can happen to others. So why Nokia can things like this happen? What would have happened if this wasn't a small game, but rather a largish application, with data, that cost lots of money? Sure I could have gone directly to the publisher then as well, but if the purchase was made through the OVI store, what record would they have of me? This centralised store is supposed to handle all of these problems (ie, Steam or Apple App Store). Also how can bugs like this get through the alpha/beta testing of the OVI Suite backup utility? This must surely be considered a critical part of the application.Judging from my response from Nokia thus far, I'm not sure if I'm even expecting a response to this. I guess it should server as a warning to others if they think they can trust this software or even the technical support behind it to back them up in case of issues. My advise? Get a different brand phone.
i have been trying to update my nokia E7 from symbian Anna to symbian Belle using nokia suite 3.3.89 but whenever it goes to the backup step , my phone displays an error message saying ( Home Screen cannot operate while backup or restore is in progress ) and then it turns off and the nokia suite asks me to restart my mobile and when i do so , nothing changes and the nokia suite display a message that it cannot backup my phone , also when i try to backup my mobile using a flash memory i have the same message on my phone and it turns off , also i tried to hard reset my mobile but with no use , so what can i do ?
I've just bought a Nokia E5-00 and would like to know if there's any possibility of transferring the text messages i had on the Samsung E900 to this new phone.
Post update version081.003, all my emails have stopped working. Also i am unable to setup any new email account. a message pops up showing- "unable to create mailbox". i have also done the hard reset and restore factory settings, still no success. its very sad to see nokia updates tend to create more problems then solving them. is there any way to install the previous software version?
How can one import SMS messages to a new Nokia phone (a Nokia e6 for example) from an Android (or an iPhone) phone? Is there a cross-format SMS backup/restore conversion tool or technique anyone can recommend?Essentially, I managed to port my old SMS messages from a Nokia to an Android mobile successfully using a combination of two straight forward apps (OVI exported CSV file converted to XML, then using a popular Android app to restore onto the Android phone). How would I carry this out in reverse - to copy the last few months SMSs from the Android phone back to my new Nokia e6?
Last night I found new firmware E5: 042,014 15-dec-2010, custom version 042.014.c00.01 type RM-632.I changed the phone 2 times and the third I was replacing the motherboard nokia-care because he had a flaw in network management. Happens that when I am in a place with little network coverage, hold the phone in my hand, I lose the network.I'm testing the new firmware to see if there are improvements.
