I've just bought a Nokia E5-00 and would like to know if there's any possibility of transferring the text messages i had on the Samsung E900 to this new phone.
View 3 Repliesi have been trying to update my nokia E7 from symbian Anna to symbian Belle using nokia suite 3.3.89 but whenever it goes to the backup step , my phone displays an error message saying ( Home Screen cannot operate while backup or restore is in progress ) and then it turns off and the nokia suite asks me to restart my mobile and when i do so , nothing changes and the nokia suite display a message that it cannot backup my phone , also when i try to backup my mobile using a flash memory i have the same message on my phone and it turns off , also i tried to hard reset my mobile but with no use , so what can i do ?

I'm able to arrange everything without OVI-Suite on the PC, contacts, mails, calendar and synch, just all I need using OVI on the web.

I have thousands of messages (SMS, Bluetooth, etc.) sorted and stored in a folder tree in "My folders" on my E71-1 (somewhat like Outlook).I tried exporting as CSV file (using Best MessageStorer), but then I could not figure out how to import the messages in the CSV file (Noki Gems crashes). In addition, only text and html are exported leaving out all the Bluetooth messages! Is there a way to backup and restore these (like Outlook)?

It is saved as backup.arc and can be seen when in PC suite, but now I cannot delete this because it says it is 'write-protected'.......... The size is 175mb, which is alarming.I am unable do any 'slider thingy' because it is a micro sd card with no adapter. Seriously, it is very very plain!I do not want to reformat it because i do not want to lose any Ovi maps and frankly, E72 has a LOT of software problems, I do not want to risk it (i set up a ringtone which also caused the inability to ever change it.... unless I saved a song as something...transfered it elsewhere...save it again etc etc, point is I am aware how nasty it gets, so, no formatting advice unless you guarantee there'll be no errors!)

I Have gone through the C memory and the below are the only items with any significant file size. Config = 86kb, Log = 157kb, Mail for exchange 26kb, Place widget 17kb, Sound files 118kb, adimagetemp 12kb, Bur_debug 43kb, debug.log 21kb, ka3d-log.txt 89kb, MdfpluginArchive.txt 27kb, Everything else is eithr 0 or bytes only, with about three more less than 10kb each.
what I can delete safely. I am no expert, however I do not see why the above quantity should be using up so much on the C memory?
I have taken back to factory settings and transferred data to PC under Nokia Suite Make Space option.
I would like to know if there is any way to disable 3g on this phone? I don't have a data plan and i would like to avoid overages.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI sent my less-then week old E6 in for repair becuase of the restart-problem. I called them on monday, and was told I'd get a call from a cust service rep. I called again today (Thrusday), and was told someone would call w/in 48 hours. Remarkably, I actually received a call.
They could not fix the E6 They offered a new, not-refurb'd N8, and not an E6 as a replacement, citing the N8 as an "upgrade".
Figure that one out.Worst_Service_EVER I do not want the N8, as it has no qwerty keyboard, but that was the only option given. She gave me 2 days to call her back after thinking about it.
Iv been using this phone for like 2 years and its working allright but since today i tried installing NetQin mobile guard on my phone but my phone got stuck and rebooted itself,after that it kept on turning on and rebooting itself.
i tried every method,hard reset,soft reset,taking out the sim card and memory then turning it on but no use! somthing must have gone wrong with the firmware but i cannot reinstall it because when ever i connect my phone with my pc and nokia pc suite,the phone doesnt stop rebooting so everytime the connection also fails.i dont understand that what should i do with my phone,i cannot find any solution to it.
This firmware have fixed very bugs. But one bug added with its new feature: when you have a new SMS or missed call, it appears the name and number of caller. But in right to left languages such as Arabic and Persian, it appears the name from left to right and is not readable.

Now when I try switching it on it will only load and switch off in the middle of the process it will switch off and try switching back on but the same thing happens.
