Eseries / Communicators :: Nokia E7 Fail To Backup?
Mar 15, 2012i have been trying to update my nokia E7 from symbian Anna to symbian Belle using nokia suite 3.3.89 but whenever it goes to the backup step , my phone displays an error message saying ( Home Screen cannot operate while backup or restore is in progress ) and then it turns off and the nokia suite asks me to restart my mobile and when i do so , nothing changes and the nokia suite display a message that it cannot backup my phone , also when i try to backup my mobile using a flash memory i have the same message on my phone and it turns off , also i tried to hard reset my mobile but with no use , so what can i do ?

Aug 1, 2011All the reviews said E6 has a good standby time. But this seems to last me less than a blackberry fone. A fully charged fone doesnt last me beyond half a day whereas BB gave almost a full day with the same usage.

Mar 24, 2011E7-00 - simply perfect! - some different tech. aspects on my PC and my network environment doesn't allow the installation of OVI-Suite - I tried it, but without success. I'm able to arrange everything without OVI-Suite on the PC, contacts, mails, calendar and synch, just all I need using OVI on the web.

Oct 10, 2010I have thousands of messages (SMS, Bluetooth, etc.) sorted and stored in a folder tree in "My folders" on my E71-1 (somewhat like Outlook).I tried exporting as CSV file (using Best MessageStorer), but then I could not figure out how to import the messages in the CSV file (Noki Gems crashes). In addition, only text and html are exported leaving out all the Bluetooth messages! Is there a way to backup and restore these (like Outlook)?

Jul 14, 2011I have an E72 where i backed up phone memory onto memory card. It is saved as backup.arc and can be seen when in PC suite, but now I cannot delete this because it says it is 'write-protected'.......... The size is 175mb, which is alarming.I am unable do any 'slider thingy' because it is a micro sd card with no adapter. Seriously, it is very very plain!I do not want to reformat it because i do not want to lose any Ovi maps and frankly, E72 has a LOT of software problems, I do not want to risk it (i set up a ringtone which also caused the inability to ever change it.... unless I saved a song as something...transfered it elsewhere...save it again etc etc, point is I am aware how nasty it gets, so, no formatting advice unless you guarantee there'll be no errors!)

I've tried to use Nokia PC Suite, but it only detects 66 messages but there is over 300 in my inbox!?I have tried to save the messages on the memory card, but it still only detects 66 messages Maybe someone know where on the memory card the messages are stored? Feb 24, 2011I have bought a Nokia E71 from a friend and when trying to download something from the Ovi store it asks for my user name and password, but says my user name and password are wrong and won't connect. I am using the same ones I use to connect to Ovi on my computer and it accepts them OK. Could this be because the previous owner's user name and password have been stored somewhere on the phone and as a security measure it won't let me in with my user name and password?
Does anyone know what I can do to be able to log in to Ovi on my phone so that I can download an application? The one I want at the moment is Sports Tracker so that I can check how many miles I do when going for a walk. I could perhaps find it online and download straight from their website, but I do really need to be able to download things through Ovi if required.

Mar 2, 2011My problem is, when the phone goes in an area where there's no service, the 3G icon shows up in the right top corner, but when I go back to the area that has service, the 3G icon won't go away and I can't make any calls nor receive. only solution is to turn off the phone and turn back on. can you help me about that, how I can receive service again without restarting the phone?

Dec 22, 2012My Nokia E7's Maps claims to be v3.09 12wk09 b05, MW OpenGL MN, Map version 0.2.47103 and 'SW Update' in checking for the latest improvements for (the) Nokia E7-00, says "Good news. Your E7-00 is already fully up-to-date."
Just before a weekly backup through Nokia Suite 3.6.36, I notice an opportunity to update the maps and, silly me, I decided to cheese the 'All' option erroneously thinking I'd have success updating 1,800+MB of map data; needless to say, at around 950MB or so, the error message of 'unrecoverable download error' or something to that effect left me with fewer maps than with which I began, including my local neighborhood!I attempted (several times) to download the map covering my local area and, when I tapped on the little red dot that show my current location, the surrounding vicinity is blank with the exception of several stars showing some of my Favorites.
Tapping the '-' to zoom out, however, reveals what appears to be street lines on half of the screen. Sure enough, there are some 'distant' Favorites, complete with streets but no street names except for major highways. Scrolling around leads to a screen freeze and even the lower left-hand 'x' to close fails as does any other attempt to close or even move to a different home screen. Closing the E7 and flipping it back open does nothing. Holding down the power button gives me three short, quick vibrations and then again gives me a reboot.
Back in Maps shows I have no maps at all; however, I can access Favorites in other countries. Downloading a map for the area where I live takes me back to my original dilemma where my current location is shown, but the surrounding vicinity is blank with the exception of several stars showing some of my Favorites, including those in different countries; however, even there not all streets/street names appear.Deleting that previously downloaded map and downloading it again makes no difference.
