View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a n95 8gb, which i'm using as a modem to connect to the internet. actually i'm using it right now. he problem is, that when i add a usb extension cable (3m) to extend the cable that came with the phone, the internet connection breaks after a (short) while. especially when downloading large amounts of data, such as when viewing Internet videos. it works for a while, then stops. if i disconnect and reconnect, it works again. for a while.
i am using windows 7 64bit, home premium edition. i have installed the latest drivers and pc suite. the latest ovi suite as well, but i'm not using it and it is not running. i doubt it is a software problem since the problem only seems to occur when i add an extension cable. the reason i add the cable is that i get a much better signal a few metres away from my computer, and thus much higher internet speed. could it be that the higher speed is a problem? that is the only non-hardware problem i can seem to think of at the moment............
I am having trouble trying to get my N900 to work as a dialup modem via my laptop running XP through USB cable. Drivers are installed and when i query the modem in settings it responds with the following:

Not that all that stuff means much to me but I thought it may tell somebody something. Whenever I instigate a connection I get error 777 that the modem is out of order and the phone does nothing. I need to be able to make dialup modem to modem connections via my phone for communicating with machinery using the machinery makers software. I have been able to do this over IR or Bluetooth with all my previous Nokia phones.

I can get an internet through the handset on its own, but when I try to connect through PC Suite, i get a message saying 'Failed to establish a connection'.The modem service USED to work; first time, every time. The only thing I can think of is that it stopped working after I updated the phone software. Has anyone else encountered this & know of a fix? I'd prefer a quick solution before I start with backing everything up, factory resets etc.I'm using the latest phone software & PC Suite, Windows Vista & I'm on the Vodafone UK network. PC running Hyperterminal and either an internal PC data modem or a cellphone connected
with a USB cable.
CALLING SIDE: ATDT1234567 data (NOT voice) phone number of CALLED side
CALLED SIDE: RING ATA answer

CALLED SIDE: CONNECT
CALLING SIDE: type on keyboard to send data to CALLED side sending data is OK

When I use a MOTOROLA V3T instead of SAMSUNG SGH-T439, sending and receiving data is OK. Samsung technical Level 3 help says it is a carrier (T-MOBILE) problem. It does not seem to be a carrier problem if it works with a MOTO cellphone.
I know that for Android devices USB tethering is only going to become possible from 2.2 Froyo, but I haven't seen an explanation for *why* such an important feature was omitted from 2.1 Eclair. I'd happily trade fifty live wallpapers for the functionality, I find it absolutely crazy that if I want to connect my pc to the internet using my phone as a modem, I needed to dust off my ancient SE Walkman phone, while my spiffy new Mini Pro couldn't help via Bluetooth or USB.

In this case an error 734 is issued by WIndows (PPP connection terminated). The trick is to disconnect Nokia messaging; doing so will lead to a successful connection from the PC.

The problem is that I cant use my phone as an internet modem via bluetooth with Microsoft bluetooth stack (everything else works). I tried the BlueSoleil 6.4.299.0 driver and it works fine but I do not want to pay extra 19.95 euros for the driver.
I am having problem tethering my bold 9700 to my pc for use as a modem. I am on Tmobile service and am running Vista OS. I called Tmobile and was told that while they no longer support it, it could be done but that Tmobile would not provide me with directions to do so. Once it has been forced in, and its fully charged when i pull it out it snaps and hald of it is still stuck in my phone. I know its the right sort of cable.
