BB Tour 9630 :: Stop Device Checking For Wireless Updates?
Jun 22, 2010
I'm trying to support nearly 100 Blackberries (mostly the Tour), and any wireless update breaks the phones with various results: anywhere from just deleting the email sync settings (all carriers) all the way to the phone unable to make/receive calls (just T-Mobile for the lack of calling, Verizon or AT&T seem unaffected thus far). We do *not* use a BES server, however, if that's what is needed, I'm certainly willing to go there. If and when an update is needed (by our standards), I will perform them. I really don't want anything coming from Blackberry, ever. I instruct users to hide the update icon, however, they always say it eventually comes back and keeps prompting to install the update. To rid themselves of the annoyance, they do the update, break the phone, then have the greater annoyance of waiting until I can get the phone fixed.
What it says is this.."Provisioning Status".."The network is configuring your device".then it says "Your device could not be registered with the wireless network. contact your wireless service provider",but i can call and receive sms!Any suggestions?
I know about going into options and checking it.But a few weeks ago I was playing around and found another place to check it. All I can remember it it was in the stock system not an app and that when you clicked on it. A progress bar popped up saying checking memory or something like that. The results broke down where the memory was being used. I have clicked and clicked till I have a blister on my finger. Will someone please slap me and wake me up showing where to look again.
I have BB Tour that is a corporate cell phone and is set up using Microsoft Exchange to receive my corporate e-mails. We use MS Outlook as our mail program.I was just playing around in Outlook trying to figure out how to attach my business card to the end of e-mails I send and soon realized I was looking at all of my personal cell numbers of friends, family etc. in Outlook on my corporate lap top ! Yikes ! I don't want my mom, ex wife, current GF's etc. contact info on my corporate laptop. Is there a way to get my Tour and/or Outlook to stop syncing my phone contacts to my my computer?
The red light on my tour will not stop blinking. This is my third tour since Christmas. Verizon has replaced it for me twice since it has had the software 552 error. Now, the light blinks weather I have a new message or not.I tried the battery pull, reloaded the software.
I put my tour in vibrate mode the other day. When I got a message (txt, email, facebook, or voicemail) my phone would keep vibrating untill i opened the message. This is the first time it has happened to me. Could there be a setting that causes this? I am running Verizon v4.7.61...I have 3 people set with coustom settings
A new icon popped up on my phone randomly and it says to do a wireless update and when i click it it says i have version 4.7.1.61 and it wants me to update to 4.7.1.61 (4.1.0.81) and I don't know what it means at all, so far I've looked through a few threads already posted but nothing thats 100% the same and I don't want to do something to mess up my phone. Can someone help me figure out to update or not to update and if not how to make the icon go away and if I do walk me through what to do please, etc.
Will Verizon Wireless automatically update the Tour to 5.0.0.591? I've seen my Tour do some automatic updates randomly before, so I was wondering if this was possible. If not, what's the best way to dl it? I saw the thread above. Can I do it from the Verizon website or the Blackberry Desktop Manager?
IMO, since I purchased my Tour - 9630 about a month ago, I believe it to be the best device for conference calls other than your PC and Windows Office Communicator.
If I don't touch the phone ie make calls txt etc then it will stay on until the battery dies. if I pick it up and use it in anyway after a few minutes it will shut down(red light) and try to restart. and I mean try because it goes into a restart loop but only the timer dial shows up for a second or two and then red light light again. Even if I pull the battery and reinstall it still does not boot. However if I install a different battery(spare) the phone will completely startup. I have tried upgrading the os downgrading the os, unistalling all third party apps nothing helps. PS auto on/off is disabled. And why does putting a different battery in it change anything?
I hate my clock radio on my night stand. The only thing it gets used for now, is occasionally playing some music before I go to sleep. Does anything exist that would let me play music for some period of time (15, 20, 30 minutes, etc) then automagically shut off? Similar to a sleep mode on my radio. I would love to see this feature in Slacker, but I either can't find it or it hasn't been pushed from feature request to real feature.
I received a download notification weeks ago to my BlackBerry for a new software update and have been unable to download it. It keeps telling me to try it from My BlackBerry Desktop -- i have and it does do it.
I am heading out on a cruise next week and i was hoping to easily turn off my primary email accounts, but leave on a secondary one that my office can used only when needed. I am a very heavy email user and at .02 cents a kb, I would need a mortgage to pay for all that email. Will deleting the service books for these accounts stop the email from coming in until I can download all email to my laptop; and then download service books?I am a longtime bb user, but the new BIS interfaces do not have a way to turn specific email accounts on and off like they used to.
I now have 3 programs that can reset my device - Quickpull, Quicklaunch and Meterberry.I am curious if they all do the same thing, or is one better than the other.I am definitely keeping QL and was wondering if I even need the other 2? I do like MB as it notifies you when your mem, battery etc is low.
I've had my blackberry for awhile but I havnt heard about how often you should charge it. Does it matter? I can't let it go completely dead cause when its almost dead it stops receiving. I have a cradle charger I put it on everyday when I go to bed. I was going to get a siedo exntended battery but I didn't want to mess it up by charging too much.
Hi all..I can't dial *100# (the interactive menu command from mobile provider) when I push the dial button, it will make a normal call...it suppost not to make a call..it suppost to send the command to the network to get the interactive menu..
anyone facing the same problems?does this have any solutions?I already called my service provider and they said that it was a common problems..even when there re two same model blackberry, 1 can dial and the other one can't..
I've noticed that no matter how many times I try to close facebook it stays open and seems to slow my Tour down to a crawl. Constantly getting the spinning clock now. I've tried reinstalling facebook but that didn't help. Facebook isn't worth not having my Tour work but at that the same time why am I paying for a device that won't run apps without issues? It's really strange because nothing has changed and yet all of a sudden this issue has popped up. I also tried a battery pull but that seemed to make the problem worse, not better. After the battery pull I got the clock for about 10 minutes and the device was slow for a while after that
My phone has stopped receiving emails and Facebook updates from the Facebook app!! How do I fix this? Receving emails is a big part of the Blackberry's function.
This might be a stupid question, but I've done some searching and I can't find the answer.I have the Tour 9630, and if I choose to do the OTA update, will it wipe my device? Do I need to backup my e-mail's, contact's, ect?
I can get all of my ringtones to change (phone, email, mms, etc) but I cannot get my SMS ringtone to change. I'll click the sound icon in the upper left hand corner, go to Set Ring Tones/Alerts>Messages>SMS Text and change the ringtone and then save it, but once I look in my phone book to verify it all of my ringtones are stuck on "Sanguine". The only way I can change my ringtone for my whole phone book is to go through and individually change the ringtone for each person.
A couple of months ago I had downloaded CrunchSMS, which I read on other threads may be the cause of the problem, but I deleted it shortly after downloading it. I have also taken out my battery and media card and done a full reboot.
My last message from my hotmail email account to my device was as of 6 pm today.....but I've been seeing emails come into my inbox since then through regular login on the web?...I resent service books and rebooted my device just so I know I'm not going crazy....anyone else with hotmail/msn experiencing this?
Anyone please tell me how you can load an audio book onto your bb. I have books download in Itunes. But so for some reason they won't load onto my phone. I have tried using the media manager on my desktop. But when I open it up the area is grayed out,
My phone number has been set to private and I do not know how to make it non private. I do not have anything in Options like General Settings and Restrict my number.
I just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing something here.... It appears that for each notification (e.g. each email address, the phone ringer, the calendar alarm, SMS text notification, etc.) you choose 1 setting that carries through to all the different "profiles" (e.g. loud, normal, vibrate), and that when you set it on the different profiles, it merely changes the volume of the ringer and whether or not it vibrates?
On my Curve 8330, I had to set each ringer in EACH profile, so if I wanted I could have BBPro1 as the phone ringer for "Loud," and BBPro2 as the phone ringer for "Normal," and BBPro3 as the phone ringer for "Medium," etc.... The Tour does not have this, does it?
Haven't been receiving e-mails most of today. Went to e-mail settings to check on what was up and received the above message. Sent an e-mail from my BB to myself and haven't gotten it yet, although my BB says it sent. I've tried alt-caps-del reboot and battery pull. Same problem. Internet browser works fine. I haven't installed or deleted any apps or anything.
I just bought a Nokia phone and downloaded the PC Suite.I wanted to put some music in my phone so I tried downloading OVI but it always stops while 'checking for updates'. It says that there's a problem with the internet connection on my computer. I've never had this kind of trouble before.
