When I try to use the keypad on My torch 9800 the screen freezes and the icons go upside down. I have reset the phone and taken the battery out many times also it has the latest upgrade installed on it. what I can do to sort it?

Problems started yesterday. Touch screen started working eratically, then the keyboard stopped responding.
I've done the following with no success:
1) pulled battery and rebooted (multiple times)
2) ran backup from desktop, then reloaded the current OS (was already the latest version)
3) changed batteries
4) searched support communities for other ideas
Problem is I can't type my password into the phone and it's turned off phone service so I can't get calls. Touchpad works sporadically but only moves up and down, not side to side.
My touch screen will not light up. However, I can see the keypad lighting up as well as the flashing light. What should I do? Is there any way to fix it? This started a few days ago....but then it appeared to fix itself. But now, the screen will not turn back on.

Yesterday, it happened while I was talking on the phone and it cut off the call. I cannot find an option on my phone to turn this feature on/off. Everything was fantastic until I updated my phone two days ago. As far as I can tell the update was designed to: Decrease battery life Change many of my settings (without warning) Slow down every action on the phone (I have had to give up on so many simple tasks) Make my picture gallery impossible to access (it takes approximately five years to load the thumbnails) Make things like applications and widgets more difficult to access ( really? No more long press on a home screen for access to widgets and apps?) Where the heck did my camera quick launch go on my home screen (I lock my phone with a PIN; and by the way what the heck is up with the giant '0' button on my PIN pad?) Did I mention slow down everything?? If I am listening to music I can't turn my phone to vibrate or even adjust the ringer volume without going into my settings, plus the music widget covers the entire top of the lock screen where the volume controls live.

I turned it on to find that it turned on in safe mode. I took out the battery to reboot it in normal mode, and from then on none of the keypad buttons work. It is also still in safe mode. Everything is functioning like I get notifications, I receive calls and bbm's but the thing is I can't check them because the screen is black. There is static as well at the top but it it is black and blurry, sometimes I could see the name of the service provider as well as the battery icon.What would work sometimes is if I do a battery pull but that is rare. Also if I lock the screen then wait a while and then press any button between the end call and receive it would come back on. But that is becoming rare as well. The system on the phone is full functional but its the screen that stays black.Sometimes if I'm lucky it would go away and I would be able to use the screen. But when that happens I would have to constantly be pressing a button to keep the phone active so it does not go on backlight setting from inactivity. U can imagine how annoying that is huh?

Sometimes I don't even see the "menu". I've tried checking settings, but it doesn't have an option to change it at all.

I am thinking about customizing my 9700 when I am able to afford it. Though if I do, I won't get a case gor it cause then you wouldn't be able to see it. At the very least, I would like some good screen protectors and a different colored LED keypad. Which supplier should I look at for these parts? I have read some bad stories about TrueSupplier so I am quite leary about them.

The screen wont turn on and it just black, but when i turn it on the red lights comes on and the keypad light, so the phone is clearly on. I thought it was a problem with the actual screen so i got new one and got it put it instead of the old one. this did not fix the problem and the screen still will not turn on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I make or receive a call and am talking on the phone, two things can happen:-
1) The keypad disappears which means if I want to end the call I need to press 'phone' to get the keypad up again to then end the call.
2) The phone locks while I am talking (but am still able to carry on the conversation). Therefore I need to unlock and then press phone to make sure I've ended a call.
Is there anyway of placing the phone keypad button on the main screen, instead of pressing phone and so on???
