BB Torch :: Screen/keypad Lock Keeps Activating While Phone?
Jul 3, 2012
I have a Blackberry Bold 9810 and the screen/keypad lock feature is always activating itself, even when I'm in the middle of sending a text or otherwise using the phone. Yesterday, it happened while I was talking on the phone and it cut off the call. I cannot find an option on my phone to turn this feature on/off. How can I fix this problem, because it is virtually making my phone unusable.
Another frustration I'm having with my first smartphone, torch 9860 bought 1 week ago ....hen I'm talking on the phone, several undesirable things might occur, like I hang-up, or put on speaker phone, or put on hold, or unless the fingers are placed "just so" and my earring doesn't happen to bump the touch screen I can't seem to just have a conversation. Is it really necessary to hold this BB like a small pizza, that is, flat and carefully around the edges, and speak down into it with my chin on my chest?
How i can activate the automatic screen and keypad lock when i put my phone into the leather holster? My BB before the 9320 did this automatically , i did not have to activate anything , the new one doesn't to do it. And i have tried more than one holster.
I found out how to lock the keypad on the 9700 after this new screwy update to the 9700.To lock keypad press and hold "A" for 1-2 seconds or push the "lock button" at top left edge of phone. To unlock the keypad go to the very top left corner ridge on the very top of the phone and press the "lock" button. Will take some getting used to but will prevent unwanted calls while holstered or in purse. The best way I found to lock keypad without a password.
When I try to use the keypad on My torch 9800 the screen freezes and the icons go upside down. I have reset the phone and taken the battery out many times also it has the latest upgrade installed on it. what I can do to sort it?
Suddenly my touch screen AND keyboard are not responding. It has not been exposed to moisture.
Problems started yesterday. Touch screen started working eratically, then the keyboard stopped responding.
I've done the following with no success:
1) pulled battery and rebooted (multiple times)
2) ran backup from desktop, then reloaded the current OS (was already the latest version)
3) changed batteries
4) searched support communities for other ideas
Problem is I can't type my password into the phone and it's turned off phone service so I can't get calls. Touchpad works sporadically but only moves up and down, not side to side.
My touch screen will not light up. However, I can see the keypad lighting up as well as the flashing light. What should I do? Is there any way to fix it? This started a few days ago....but then it appeared to fix itself. But now, the screen will not turn back on.
I just did the software updgrade, and ever since when I answer a phone call OR when I make a call, the normal "menu" screen pops up, but immediately goes to the keypad. Sometimes I don't even see the "menu". I've tried checking settings, but it doesn't have an option to change it at all.
This is very annoying as i have to close the key pad every time i want to proceed to do anything else. repeated search of settings has been unsuccessful.
Have problem with my K850i, it's hang when I press menu and next step. Keypad light up but screen blank, already reflash 3 times but same result. Is my LCD broken?
I found how to get BIS, but it's saying I need to register or activate my phone. I did the whole thing of finding the host routing table, but nothing is sent.
I can't get the screen to lock when I press the button on the top of the phone. When pressed, the screen goes off but then half a second later it lights up again and is unlocked. I have acquired a pattern lock to save pressing buttons when the phone is in my pocket but the screen remains lit up and is consequently draining the battery. There isn't any damage to that corner of the phone so I doubt the button is the problem.
after pressing the screen lock button on the upper edge of torch, the screen turns off for about 3-4 seconds and turns back on automatically.the keypad does not lock either with this lock button and the screen stays lit permanently, even though the backlight dim option is set to 20 seconds.
Disappointed with the screen lock on the Torch. The Storm was the same. I keep it in my pocket and the screen lock often accidentally comes off if the top gets pressed. It's even phoned someone unintentionally with the combination of buttons.
my screen froze on my 1020. None of the "screen" buttons would work but the physical side buttons would. I rebooted a couple of times (depressing the power and volume down). It worked once but then froze up again. Taking out the sim and putting it back in seems to reboot the phone, which works, sometimes, but freezes up again as soon as the screen lock is activated.
My phone keeps emailing and calling random people from my contacts, because I am carrying it in my back pocket. The phone is very easily unlocked accidentally as the unlock button sits on top of it, sticking out of the holster. I have even tried placing it upward down into the holster but it still easily unlocks through the holster.
What is the most efficient way to keep the the device locked for back pocket storage? I could set up a password, but as the number of bad password inputs is obviously limited, I also do not want to have accidental password input.
Is there a way to deactivate the unlock button on top and use a key combination instead? Or anything else?
I just upgraded OS5 on my 8520 but after upgrading I can't see keypad lock option anywhere. Before there was keypad lock icon in menu but its just vanished now and I even checked all the folders its nowhere. How can I get it back?
I've just upgraded my 8520 to 5.0.0.681 and can't find the keyboard lock anywhere. I used to have it assigned to the left button and it no longer gives me this option.
I have a 32gb iPhone 3gs and it regularly freezes when I lock the keypad. It sometimes comes unfrozen after a while (usually a long time) and sometimes doesn't come back at all and I have to reset it. I find that it consistently and nearly 100% of the time freezes when I lock the keypad when I have accidentally left the wifi connection on. when the wi-fi is off it doesn't usually freeze, the problems mainly when the wifi is active.
Is it possible to deactivate the On/Off Button while the device is screen locked?
A User have a problem that he puts his Blackberry in his pockets and it could be that the on/off Button gets accidentally pushed for some seconds and the Blackberry turns itself off.
Now he wants to disable the button while in screen lock.
