View 6 RepliesI have always preferred Poynt over any similar type program, by far. But I am not getting full functionality on the 9800. I trired a reinstall--These are the issues:
- It is not 100% touch-screen usable: When you pull up a list of locations, you can't just tap and open that location- you need to use the touchpad to highlight and then open.
-The biggest issue: the "map ROUTE" function doesn't work- it will find the location, but with my 9700 and 9000 it mapped the route using my choice of BB or Google maps. Doesn't go to the map with the blue-lined route on the 9800. Could it be AT&T? I know they blocked some navigation functions before to make you buy AT&T Navigator, but reinstalling the OS without the vendor module used to stop that.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI received a SMS message from a contact that was sent to me and several other people. Here are my issues
1-the incoming SMS box was green instead of regular white. Is this because it was sent to multiple recipients?
2- the "from" name isn't prominently displayed rather it shows the order the sender picked who to send to. Is there a way to fix this?
3- when I replied I replied to EVERYONE the sender sent the message to. How can this be disabled?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMuch to my absolute horror, my 9-year old son handed me my phone with the message 'Wiping' on the screen with a progress bar - Daddy what is this? Oh my God!!! All of my Contacts were permanently lost and I had to set up my phone from scratch again - out of box. I'm guessing it's because he tried to guess my password again. The last time he tried to guess my password about 6 months ago, the phone did not Wipe itself out. Why it would wipe itself out is totally ridiculous. If a would-be thief actually somehow guessed my password, he deserves to have my Contacts, as I choose a password that cannot be guessed. It's up to the user how secure they want their phone by choosing a password of a certain level. It's not up to RIM to choose DEFCON 1 as soon as someone exceeds the number of retries set. It makes me want to get rid of my Blackberry altogether and get a phone that has a more reasonable security measures sequence of events. At the very least, there should be some kind of warning on the screen upon enabling the 'Password Lock' feature that states, 'the phone will be wiped if the number of retries is exceeded, it is highly recommended to Backup your Data using the Blackberry Manager PC software, in order to allow your phone to be quickly configured back to the state of when you backed it up, in the event a security wipe is activated'. I learned later that this was in the manual, but who actually reads the manual? I don't even know where my manual is. If I had known this, I would have most definitely backed it up. I think that since I'm basically starting from scratch, I may as well get another phone, but not one that has this ridiculous feature like Blackberry's.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe only thing I dislike about my Torch is that every time I'm on a call I accidently put people on mute, hold or sometimes even call someone else. This happens when my ear or face touches the phone. This is hard to prevent so is there a way to lock the screen when on a call.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an AT&T Blackberry Torch 9800. I am using Blackberry Internet Service (BIS).I need to disable the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature from my device.Prior to the activation of the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature, I was successfully syncing my Google contacts with the Default address book on the device. Now that the AT&T Address Book has been activated, syncing with my Google contacts is no longer possible.I have not discovered how to disable the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature. The only option available is to "sync now" (with AT&T Address Book).
I have performed a Security Wipe on the device. It appears that it does not disable the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature, which reappears again. On the AT&T Blackberry Torch 9800, under Setup, there are different icons for features you want to set up. One of them is called AT&T Address Book. When you click on that icon, it begins the registration process for AT&T Address Book. You have the choice to Accept or Decline.Once accepted, all future contacts created on the device can only be listed on the AT&T Address Book contact list. It is no longer possible to create contacts in the Default address book on the device.
<Blackberry Knowledge Base reference: AT&T Address Book>KB24080 - Synchronization with the AT&T Address Book in BlackBerry 6 the AT&T Address Book provides the ability to synchronize contacts on the BlackBerry® smartphone to an online AT&T Address Book that can be accessed by visiting [URL]. After an account is created, contacts can be added, edited, and viewed using this online resource. The contacts are saved on the AT&T network, and can be easily recovered or restored in the event of an upgrade, damage, or loss of a BlackBerry smartphone. Below is a list of features advertised with the AT&T Address Book: Automatic Backup: Your contacts on a compatible AT&T mobile phone are backed up to your AT&T Address Book, and changes you make are automatically saved. Online Access: Conveniently access, manage, and text message your contacts from a computer. Note: Contacts stored within the AT&T Address Book on the BlackBerry smartphone will not synchronize via the BlackBerry® Desktop Software to a Personal Information Management (PIM) application on the computer (for example, Microsoft Outlook). The BlackBerry Desktop Software is designed to synchronize information between a PIM application and the BlackBerry smartphone using the smartphone's default contact list service. As the AT&T Address Book creates its own service that is not accessible for synchronization (as it cannot be set as the default service for synchronization), the BlackBerry Desktop Software continues to synchronize with the default service and not the AT&T Address Book.Users will notice that their AT&T Address Book data does not transfer to their PIM application on their computers, but that the computer information is stored in a separate service on the BlackBerry smartphone after synchronization. This is by design.
1. I've paired it with my laptop via bluetooth
2. I've synced it with the server Nokia website but it won't put my music on

4.I want a cool ringtone but can't load anything on it
I just got the new iPhone. I'm still using Tiger 10.4.11 on my MacBook Pro.I plugged my new phone in to the computer and it said that the phone isn't compatible with my version of OSX. I didn't think this would be a problem since my iPhone 3G works just fine with it.
I know I can buy a new version of OSX, but after spending £450 on the phone, I'm not really in a position to afford the £132 it's going to cost me to upgrade (Apple website says I need to go for the Mac Box Set, and not just Snow Leopard) at the moment.
This isn't my main question, but if I was to ask someone who already has the Mac Box Set for a copy of the disk, would it install on my Mac, or do I have to buy it myself? Sorry if that's a silly question. If I was to set up my new phone on the PC I have here, I wouldn't be able to then plug it back into my Mac, would I? All my music and contact info etc is stored on my Mac so it'll be a major hassle to have to start all over again on the PC.And also, say if I did start using this on the PC, when I do eventually get Snow Leopard, do I have to start all over again if I want to go back to using the phone with my Mac?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10a from AT&T last month to monitor my surveillance system from the phone. The software (Meye) is for 1.6 and I can't find any more information about it. However, I want to upgrade to 2.1 for voice to text. So my questions are: 1) is 2.1 stable because I have read all kinds of horror stories about it being unstable and crashing, restarting, etc; 2) is 2.1 backwards compatible to 1.6 since I must have the surveillance software installed; and 3) what can I use to upgrade other than Sony Upgrade Service since I tried using it and it just reinstalled 1.6 again?
