BB Torch :: Disable AT&T Address Book Contact Synchronization?
Jun 27, 2010
I have an AT&T Blackberry Torch 9800. I am using Blackberry Internet Service (BIS).I need to disable the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature from my device.Prior to the activation of the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature, I was successfully syncing my Google contacts with the Default address book on the device. Now that the AT&T Address Book has been activated, syncing with my Google contacts is no longer possible.I have not discovered how to disable the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature. The only option available is to "sync now" (with AT&T Address Book).
I have performed a Security Wipe on the device. It appears that it does not disable the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature, which reappears again. On the AT&T Blackberry Torch 9800, under Setup, there are different icons for features you want to set up. One of them is called AT&T Address Book. When you click on that icon, it begins the registration process for AT&T Address Book. You have the choice to Accept or Decline.Once accepted, all future contacts created on the device can only be listed on the AT&T Address Book contact list. It is no longer possible to create contacts in the Default address book on the device.
<Blackberry Knowledge Base reference: AT&T Address Book>KB24080 - Synchronization with the AT&T Address Book in BlackBerry 6 the AT&T Address Book provides the ability to synchronize contacts on the BlackBerry® smartphone to an online AT&T Address Book that can be accessed by visiting [URL]. After an account is created, contacts can be added, edited, and viewed using this online resource. The contacts are saved on the AT&T network, and can be easily recovered or restored in the event of an upgrade, damage, or loss of a BlackBerry smartphone. Below is a list of features advertised with the AT&T Address Book: Automatic Backup: Your contacts on a compatible AT&T mobile phone are backed up to your AT&T Address Book, and changes you make are automatically saved. Online Access: Conveniently access, manage, and text message your contacts from a computer. Note: Contacts stored within the AT&T Address Book on the BlackBerry smartphone will not synchronize via the BlackBerry® Desktop Software to a Personal Information Management (PIM) application on the computer (for example, Microsoft Outlook). The BlackBerry Desktop Software is designed to synchronize information between a PIM application and the BlackBerry smartphone using the smartphone's default contact list service. As the AT&T Address Book creates its own service that is not accessible for synchronization (as it cannot be set as the default service for synchronization), the BlackBerry Desktop Software continues to synchronize with the default service and not the AT&T Address Book.Users will notice that their AT&T Address Book data does not transfer to their PIM application on their computers, but that the computer information is stored in a separate service on the BlackBerry smartphone after synchronization. This is by design.
When I try to synchronise address book and tranfer contacts from mobile to desktop , it does not synchronise. stops at contact 881 and says Error encountered. Error code - 0x80043ac9. Check documentation.
New here and a tad bit upset with my failure to synch the address book. I had it in originally, I used a 'skype out' product to export skype contacts to Outlook, then I usefully synced to Outlook, but had a bunch of repeated addresses. Found a solution to delete address book and to reimport from Outlook. Successfully deleted address book on BB. Tires to sync but now it fails to do so. I have reinstall 1, battery, 2, SIM card, 3 desktop program. The synch starts - to be certain- I even go so far as the option to approve the sync or snot. Then it begins to do the syncing and the countdown of addresses yet to by synced clicks downward, as it should, then there's a 'bink' sound, and then nothing, and I check my BB, and no addresses have moved over. I have tried SEVRAL TIMES even 'syncing all' I have arranged for the synch to be for the addresses only. I have arranged for it to be from the computer to the BB. Hopeless. Extremely frustrated.
Using Desktop Manager to syncronise. Somehow the wireless synchronisation of the address book has been turned on. I want to turn it off again. all it tells me is I can turn it on or off.
I am considering buying an Incredible to replace my BB curve and I have the following questions about the Incredible's true capabilities. How does the synchronization of of address book information work with a Mac? Specifically, I have accumulated entries in my Mac address book where the address, be it physical, e-mail, or phone is labeled "Boston" or "Summer Home" etc. and both the BB program and the Mark Space program won't transfer any entries that don't match the rigid blackberry set of work, home, fax, mobile. Will the address book program that comes with the Incredible and any synching software allow the kind of flexibility I have with the Mac address book? Address will be transferred as "Boston," etc. and not dropped. Must I do all this with the Google cloud, or can I transfer data directly from the Mac to the Incredible? How well does the voice recognition software work? At first the voice recognition worked on my BB, but as the software "learned" my voice it became completely useless. How easy is the Incredible to use with one hand?
From time to time, I really need turn by turn with voice commands navigation. Is Google maps really a viable alternative for Verizon Navigator? How well does the Android work with a weak signal? I have seen various complaints about the Incredible working with poor signals. Any truth to this? At my house and office, signal strength varies between 2G and 3G but for either signal fluctuates between -95 and -105 db. Will the HTC work with this poor of a signal? I have heard the screen is hard to read in full sun? How about a sunny day in a car when I am trying to make a phone call? Is it true with the Incredible on Verizon I can get Tethering and not pay extra for it like the BB?
Having just bought a "Bold 9700" I am new to the BlackBerry-World. I would like to sync my emails (e.g. the emails I wrote and sent on the road) and the adress book entries of the device (software version 5.0.0.423) with "Windows Mail" on my home computer (OS Visa, SP 2). Up to now I couldn't find out how to do this, either with the "Desktop Manager" (version 5.0.1) or with some other piece of software (???). Potentialy it looks like the "DesktopManager" could be up to this task, but the box to check for this is not highlighted, so I can not select this option.
i have blackberry 9810 and i want to send my contacts from my address book on my macbook pro to my blackberry . i installed the blackberry desktop software Then I connect my blacberry to my macbook pro and the sync started .the calender , notes , tasks was Synchronized and every thing was ok but the contacts didnt Synchronize and I do not know why..
I just got the Curve 9300. I can't seem to sync the contacts and calendar with my Mac's BB Desktop Manager. It shows the message, "... turn off wireless synchronization by opening Address Book on the device... etc." There isn't such an option available.
Have had my Curve for ages and added a contact a day or so ago. Upgraded some applications from BB World (don't know if there is a connection) and tried adding a new contact but this error message appears: Uncaught exception: Application net_rim_bb_addressbook_app (216) is not responding; process terminated (by the way the two upgrades were for Twitter and BB Messenger)Is it coincidence that I've just installed a couple of upgrades and this has now happened?
I have S'ony Xperia X8. The address book icon desappear of the screen corner (emails/music/numbers and address book). How can I put it in that place again?
I cannot modify or add a new contact in my book address on my mobile. Type of mobile is BlackBerry 9700 Bold. I have already restart the phone by dismantling the battery 3 to 4 times. What shall I do to make the application works?
I don't know how it happened but when I was composing an SMS message I noticed that I have the same contact twice with the same numbers. Some of the contacts are just copies and some have a facebook name on it. I have tried deleting and reinstalling facebook but the issue is still there. My question is: is there I way I can quickly delete all this duplicate contacts without doing it one by one?
When I add a new contact to my IPhone 4s Address Book ("Contacts") it sometimes crashes if you enter all the information and tap "done". It doesn't crash if you first enter the first/last name - tap done - open the contact and edit it. After "Contacts" crashes the new entry is not saved.
It is very annoying especially if you are on the go or you ask the person 3 times for their contact details...
when i save a contact (mobile number), then later on or a few hours later, i cannot find that contact saved in my address book. this has hapenned multiple times to me.
This might sound like a silly question but i've set up facebook on my blackberry which is fine, then my mom brought the same one and asked me to set up hers aswell for her, and somehow on my moms i managed to do something that made peoples facebook pictures come up as there contact photo in her address book, but now i cant figure out how to do it on mine! lolll. I have the curse 8520,
I currently have my iPhone contacts synched with my Macbook Pro address book. I am wondering if there is a way to delete contacts from my phone, while keeping them in the address book of my Macbook? I have many contacts that I would like to keep permanently for future use, but am hoping to clean up the contacts on my actual phone. Each time I delete a contact from the iPhone, the contact is simultaneously deleted from my Macbook address book.
picture source not updating in their address book/contact list?
On the Cliq I never had this problem. On the Cliq2 when people update their FB default pictures, it doesn't sync and update them in my address book anymore. Motorola said it should but it doesn't. They offered me a new phone but hello this is my second Cliq2 that it hasn't worked on. Apparently it's not the phone. It's motoblur!
The last time I did an update on my Torch, I also restored a previous backup of my address book. Now that I'm doing another update/backup, it's not backing up the current address book.Okay, the message I'm getting is "Can't back up address book - Last used hint 0/1".
I have a Blackberry hooked up to an Ent. Server; after going to contacts, it apears that I have none. Although, if I type in someones number, and call, their name comes up. So it look like they're there somewhere, because it's grabbing their information, but how do I put them all in the address book?
For some reason when I set an appointment I can't invite anyone for my address book like I did on my Bold. The option is grayed out.Anyone encounter this?
Is it possible to back up a Torch address book to MS Excel or another program? I am changing jobs on Thursday and may not have a BlackBerry at my next company. I'm trying to find a way to avoid hand writing all of the info from my address and then manually typing it into my next phone.
The IT dept at my office wiped my phone for the outlook upgrade the company just completed. I am trying to restore my 600 contacts from desktop software and cannot select the address book to restore. That entry is dimmed as read only data type. I have tried to the tip to turn off the wireless email reconciliation, but it had no affect.
I cant seem to remove the AT&T Address Book, and after hrs on the phone with AT&T and RIM seems no one knows how to?! I am pretty proficient with tinkering with Blackberry's but I don't see anywhere in the OS a way to revert the contact list to default and remove the AT&T Address Book completely from the phone. This is really screwing up my back ups and contact list and I would appreciate some input from the true BB knowledge base on the web!
Just got the Torch, lovin' it so far, but Im having trouble transferring my address book/other data to it. Blackberry 6 did all the steps, but I still have nothing on my Torch that was on my Bold (i.e. address book, or any other media).
I am trying to sync to my MAC via Blackberry Desktop Software for MAC. It worked fine the first time, but now it tells me that the Contacts are configured to sync wirelessly, and that I should turn that feature off.1. I can't find how to do so. It says that I need to open the Address book and see it in Options, but a... The app is not called Address book, but Contact, and I don't see that Option there b.... It would be nice to do it wirelessly, but I don't know how to!
When restoring my old torch 9800, to the new 9860, my address book will only transfer 322 contacts out of more than 700, and I have not been able to restore the complete address book. Does any body know what might be happening? I have tried complete restore and custom restore, selecting only the address book, and it stops at 322 contacts always!
I have both Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook on my laptop, one is business & one is personal. When I sync my torch and laptop, only the Outlook Express address book is transferred to my blackberry. Do you know haow I can transfer the Microsoft Outlook address book?
