BB Torch :: 9860 Will Not Restore Address Book Complete?

Nov 10, 2011

When restoring my old torch 9800, to the new 9860, my address book will only transfer 322 contacts out of more than 700, and I have not been able to restore the complete address book. Does any body know what might be happening? I have tried complete restore and custom restore, selecting only the address book, and it stops at 322 contacts always!

I cant seem to remove the AT&T Address Book, and after hrs on the phone with AT&T and RIM seems no one knows how to?! I am pretty proficient with tinkering with Blackberry's but I don't see anywhere in the OS a way to revert the contact list to default and remove the AT&T Address Book completely from the phone. BB Torch :: Disable AT&T Address Book Contact Synchronization?

Jun 27, 2010

I have an AT&T Blackberry Torch 9800. I am using Blackberry Internet Service (BIS).I need to disable the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature from my device.Prior to the activation of the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature, I was successfully syncing my Google contacts with the Default address book on the device. Now that the AT&T Address Book has been activated, syncing with my Google contacts is no longer possible.I have not discovered how to disable the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature. The only option available is to "sync now" (with AT&T Address Book).

I have performed a Security Wipe on the device. It appears that it does not disable the AT&T Address Book contact synchronization feature, which reappears again. On the AT&T Blackberry Torch 9800, under Setup, there are different icons for features you want to set up. One of them is called AT&T Address Book. When you click on that icon, it begins the registration process for AT&T Address Book. You have the choice to Accept or Decline.Once accepted, all future contacts created on the device can only be listed on the AT&T Address Book contact list. It is no longer possible to create contacts in the Default address book on the device.

<Blackberry Knowledge Base reference: AT&T Address Book>KB24080 - Synchronization with the AT&T Address Book in BlackBerry 6 the AT&T Address Book provides the ability to synchronize contacts on the BlackBerry smartphone to an online AT&T Address Book that can be accessed by visiting [URL]. After an account is created, contacts can be added, edited, and viewed using this online resource. The contacts are saved on the AT&T network, and can be easily recovered or restored in the event of an upgrade, damage, or loss of a BlackBerry smartphone. Below is a list of features advertised with the AT&T Address Book: Automatic Backup: Your contacts on a compatible AT&T mobile phone are backed up to your AT&T Address Book, and changes you make are automatically saved. Online Access: Conveniently access, manage, and text message your contacts from a computer. Note: Contacts stored within the AT&T Address Book on the BlackBerry smartphone will not synchronize via the BlackBerry Desktop Software to a Personal Information Management (PIM) application on the computer (for example, Microsoft Outlook). The BlackBerry Desktop Software is designed to synchronize information between a PIM application and the BlackBerry smartphone using the smartphone's default contact list service. As the AT&T Address Book creates its own service that is not accessible for synchronization (as it cannot be set as the default service for synchronization), the BlackBerry Desktop Software continues to synchronize with the default service and not the AT&T Address Book.Users will notice that their AT&T Address Book data does not transfer to their PIM application on their computers, but that the computer information is stored in a separate service on the BlackBerry smartphone after synchronization. This is by design.

BB Torch :: Sync Failure With Outlook Address / Contact Book

Aug 10, 2011

New here and a tad bit upset with my failure to synch the address book. I had it in originally, I used a 'skype out' product to export skype contacts to Outlook, then I usefully synced to Outlook, but had a bunch of repeated addresses. Found a solution to delete address book and to reimport from Outlook. Successfully deleted address book on BB. Tires to sync but now it fails to do so. I have reinstall 1, battery, 2, SIM card, 3 desktop program. The synch starts - to be certain- I even go so far as the option to approve the sync or snot. Then it begins to do the syncing and the countdown of addresses yet to by synced clicks downward, as it should, then there's a 'bink' sound, and then nothing, and I check my BB, and no addresses have moved over. I have tried SEVRAL TIMES even 'syncing all' I have arranged for the synch to be for the addresses only. I have arranged for it to be from the computer to the BB. Hopeless. Extremely frustrated.

But if I go to email & put in a letter all of my old contacts that begin with that letter show up. & my speed dials still work. But if i go to sms/mms & do compose sms it shows "No Addresses"....well I spoke too soon...now if i go to email & type in a letter it don't show a list of ppl that begin with that letter.... Nokia :: Email Address From Address Book On E72 And Removing Old Emails

Mar 1, 2010

I like my E72 but I have two problems that really annoy me.

1. In the past when ever I would write a new email I would get list of suggested email addresses in the "To" field. For example, if I would was to write the letter S I would get the email address of the people in my address book whose name starts with an S (sam, Sofia etc). for some reason this feature stopped working on my phone and I can't find how to make it work again. if I want to send an email I need to manually write the email address in the "To" field. The auto suggestion feature works perfectly on my wife's phone (an E72 with the same firmware - 22.007) but on my phone it won't suggest email addresses from my contacts.

2. Another problem is that my Gmail that is synced to the phone, through the Nokia Messenger server is locked on "hide emails older than 2 weeks". Now, I have hundreds of emails stored on my phone that dates to February 1st - the day I got the Phone.

Is there a way to delete these emails automatically, without deleting them on the Gmail account itself? It makes my phone really when going through the emails.

BB Tour 9630 :: Auto-complete Email Address Is Not Working

Jun 9, 2010

It worked fine for the first 10months ... Now blammo, nadda! When I type an email (compose new, reply or forward), my email addresses from my contacts now longer auto-magically auto-fill. It doesn't matter what category the contact is from. I've tried alt "rbld" in the contacts. I've restarted about 15times over the last week, even with the almighty battery pull. I've tried re-syncing multiple times. I've removed and re-installed my email accounts. I've spent more time trying to fix it than typing in the dern addresses at this point, it's just so blastedly inconvenient and time consuming with my excessive emailing for work. I'm ready to try a stick dynamite attached to the phone, but thought it was a lil extreme, so I'm asking for help first...

BB Tour 9630 :: Email Address Auto-Complete & Calendar Sync

May 3, 2010

Ever since I activated BES (so that I could sync email/calendar with my company's MS Exchange server), I have been experiencing a couple of email-related issues that I did not have previously:
1)When composing a new email or trying to add another contact to an existing email, when I type in the name of the person, the email address auto-complete function does not work. It does work when I am sending SMS, MMS, and searching through my Phone Book, but does not work in email for some reason. Even if I manually type in the correct email address, I do not have a option for the email. I can only reply to email or go through the Phone Book and selection the phonebook entry. I have done the phone book quickfix several times without any success.
2)My calendar events are not showing up in my BES email folder both sent or received calendar notices do not show up for some reason. I have re-sent the Service Books from BES a couple of times to no avail.
