Apr 6, 2012I had an address book with 44 contacts on my Blackberry Curve 9300. I back it up regularly on my desktop computer. After I installed my Yahoo email on my Blackberry and added 1 new contact my existing address book disappeared! When I try to restore it from my Blackberry desktop software the option for "address book" is dimmed thus not available.v

Some of the contacts are backed up on my desktop at home, but lots had been entered manually and had nothing to do with the yahoo email address. Does anyone know how I can restore it? Jan 20, 2012I was trying to create a sub folder in my address book & now I can't find my original add book. The add book icon is still there, but there are no contacts in it. The best i remember i hit filter and chose business & typed in a name for what i thought would be a new folder or group. i'm not sure what happened, but I can't see any of my contacts. I have switched from personl to business & back again & it says "no contacts" on both. But if I go to email & put in a letter all of my old contacts that begin with that letter show up. & my speed dials still work. But if i go to sms/mms & do compose sms it shows "No Addresses"....well I spoke too soon...now if i go to email & type in a letter it don't show a list of ppl that begin with that letter.... I have tried taking the battery out with the phone off & on & it's still the same....

I am trying to restore my 600 contacts from desktop software and cannot select the address book to restore. That entry is dimmed as read only data type. I have tried to the tip to turn off the wireless email reconciliation, but it had no affect.

May 14, 2010I am running Maps 3.03 on an E71. While this version provides free turn-by-turn navigation, which is great, I find that providing the destination address is much less convenient than it was in the previous, non-free version. Before, you'd enter a city from a menu and having done that, you got a menu of valid streets within that city and so on. Now you just get a single text-input box into which you have to type the address (and deal with the system's invariably wrong attempts to complete things).
This step backward provides an additional incentive to want to be able to choose the destination address by indicating an entry in your contacts database. Navigate me to THIS restaurant, or the home address of THIS person, etc. There appears to be no way to do this, unless I'm missing something. And, inexplicably, there also appears to be no way to copy-paste an address from the contacts app to the Maps app. I've attempted to check the documentation, which in Nokia E71 tradition, is useless.
If I'm missing something here, I'd appreciate being enlightened by someone. If I'm right about this, this is another example of why Nokia's market share in the US is miniscule and why their share worldwide is dropping. Smartphones cram a lot of capability into a very small package, which places a huge premium on user-interface design. This is a major factor, perhaps THE major factor, in the iPhone's success, despite the fact that it's not so great for making calls (unlike Nokia phones, which excel in that department).
BB Curve :: Cannot Add More Contacts On Address Book
Jan 26, 2011i have a blackberry curve 8520. at the momment i have 288 contacts but i can not add more. I go to menu, address book, new contact, the window give me the options, i add the information (name, phone, email, etc) and when i want to save the contact it do not save
i tried to reboot removing the battery for a minute and restart but still with the same problem.
Also i figured out that when y sync my bb with the desktop manager, the address book is not sync it says (Adress book not installed) that is why i can not swipe the contacts to reinstall the info because i have no back up of the address book

May 10, 2010I am trying to synch my adress book with my corporate BES 4.1. It was working fine up until a week ago when I noticed some contacts were not downloading from my outlook address book. After trying to download the address book a couple of times I wiped the addresses out by deleting the Desktop (SYNC) file from the service book and tried to resync with the server. This time it looks like it is downloading all of the addresses (1034 of them) but when I go to the adress book there is still nothing there. The Desktop(SYNC) file reappears but no addresses.

Jul 16, 2012I have a curve, 8520. When I add a new contact to my address book, I find that it disappears when I remove the battery and reboot my phone or a few days later. However, older contacts that were saved on my previous phone, before I had my blackberry, do not get deleted.
