BB Torch :: Don't Want To Receive Old Emails
Jul 13, 2012I have a Torch 9800 & took it with me on a long trip out-of-country only to use as a camera. For this purpose, I stopped receipt of emails by turning off - via Manage Connections - both the Mobile Network & the WiFi. Hence, I was running silent. Having returned home, I want to initiate receipt of emails again BUT do NOT want the several hundred emails accumulated during my travels to be pushed to my handheld (I remained in touch with emails on trip by using my laptop). Question: how can I now turn on my Mobile Network & WiFi connections and not have pushed to my BB all the emails accumulated over the past 2 months (they still remain on my email server)?

Mar 1, 2012Just picked up a Torch 9860 from Verizon on Wednesday to replace my ailing Storm 2. I was assured by the salesperson that I'd be able to go home and transfer data from my old phone to the new one using the Desktop Manager (I had not previously used this software). Long story short, I tried to download the Desktop Manager to three different computers without success, each time getting the same error message stating that ....C++ 2008 Distributable... needed to be on my computer. So dead end there.
Then the fun really begins. I set up my email account on the Torch and it will receive emails, but I can't open any of them. Tried the Browser- it won't connect to the internet either. This is a brand new phone, right out of the box! I've installed no apps, nothing, stock out of the box!
I went to the Verizon store yesterday and they were able to transfer my contacts over from my old phone but also could not get it to open messages or connect to the web. I can use the phone and text, but that's it.
If I can't download Desktop Manager or connect to the web,

Jan 3, 2012I can send but cannot receive gmail emails on my blackberry torch. The phone says the email is setup and is sending fine but when I send test emails to it I get a MAILER-DAEMON failure notice.
IMAP is enabled and have followed all the gmail instructions and blackberry helps guides but I think I am missing something. The extension of the email is not gmail it is my company name [URL] I cannot receive my work emails on my blackberry which is make life so difficult!

Jan 6, 2012My Torch is functioning completely normally except that I'm not receiving emails. The IT dept where I work has checked everything out but their only solution is to wipe the whole blackberry and start over. I would love to avoid this. They checked my settings and tried them in another device and it worked fine.

I purchased a German SIM card that is not for Blackberries (because they required me to sign a 2-year contract and I didn't want that), but I was told that this plan gave me unlimited data and that I would be able to check my emails, go on FB, etc. Last night I inserted the German SIM card on my phone and everything worked fine (I checked some emails and downloaded an app) but today I did not receive any emails, could not access FB, AppWorld or any other function that required WiFi. The phone is connected to WiFi and the O2 mobile network.

Aug 12, 2010Let the guy in the store "sync" with Desktop Manager. No link through enterprise server until I can get to office computer but that's ok. I am trying to work through MSN account. But it won't receive emails, it won't send emails and it won't let me change the set up.
When I go into setup, it asks for the user name and password. I use my msn user name (inclusive of the @msn.com) and it says it is too short and must be 4 characters! It is! If I leave off the @msn.com, it says my info is wrong.
And I can't figure out how to remove the email account so I can try setting it up again.I did try to set up my gmail account - same issue.

Jul 3, 2011I've just swapped a Bold for a Torch. I'm trying to sync my hotmail email account to it. I go to the set-up wizard as per usual and I'm told to "move my email accounts to receive emails to my new device" It tells me to insert my password, which I do. Message pops up saying the password has been verified. Then that's it. It just then has the option of returning to setup options. I go to my Messages folder and its tells me that no message services has been configured and it all starts again. My Facebook messages are in there but no hotmail.
