BB Torch :: FB, And Other Apps Not Working Over Wifi?
Jun 8, 2011
I have had a blackberry torch for a while now which i had bought in the uk, i have been living in spain since september and have been using the wifi in my house here to bbm and use all the apps etc. I recently went back to the uk to visit and came back to spain yesterday and connected to my wifi... however my bbm, email, fb, and all other apps are not working, however i can connect to the browser! I have tried various things to make it work again, for eg, pulling the battery out, taking sim in and out, making sure the data service is on! The wi fi is definitely connected as the signal bar in the right hand corner is white! Does anybody know how to make it work again, it has always worked completely fine!
i am using bb bold 9780 & i am facing issues in using the wifi connection. whenever i open the browser & try to surf on wifi it shows the message "unable to connect to the internet" but as soon as i open the Internet on the device it works properly & then the browser also works fine for some time then again it shows the same message. the same thing is happening with the facebook & twitter apps they work for some time then they dispaly the message that u r currently not on the required data paln connect to wifi. then again when i open Internet it again starts to work then suddenly stops working on wifi.
this the problem of the handset or there is something wrong with my phn settings because the wifi is working properly with all the other mobiles & pc's
No matter what I do the WiFi on my Samsung Galaxy S6 does not work with certain apps and processes. It seems to be connected with Google- such as, pictures on the Play Store will not load, YouTube videos constantly are loading but never play and certain games think I am not connected to the internet at all. Things like web browsing and google search work fine however, but streaming is incredibly slow. This ONLY happens with my AT&T WiFi at home- WiFi in other locations works just fine. My WiFi signal is full strength at home. I constantly have to use my data services (T-Mobile) and everything works great then.
Here is what I already tried: 1. Changing my DNS settings to Google Server 2. Clear app data and caches 3. Uninstalling and reinstalling the apps 4. Complete factory reset of the device (and lost all my games from a corrupt backup file, with nothing working still)
When I was resetting my device, I knew the WiFi still wasn't working because when it tried to connect to my google account only and not my Samsung account (again- google seems to be where the problem happens) it was stuck at "getting info". But when I switched to data it worked.
Weirdest thing I've ever experienced with a smart phone. EXCLUSIVELY while using the Wi-fi at my house, I am unable to see pictures and load profiles on Facebook and Instagram while on my G3. Other apps don't seem to have this issue. It all works flawlessly on any other wi-fi or while using 4G. Also, the internet here works flawlessly for every other device in my house (PC, PS4, Xbox, etc).
I can use Messenger pretty much just fine, although it takes forever to send and receive pictures through it.
What on earth could possibly cause this issue? It's ONLY on MY wi-fi, and it's ONLY those apps.
There are certain apps (snapchat, Google play store) on my phone that will only work when mobile data is on or WiFi with airplane mode on. I would like to be able to use my WiFi at home without having to turn airplane mode on.
I just arrived in Germany for a vacation. When I arrived in my room, I connected my Torch to the wifi and was able to use all my data functions. At this time, I had turned off the mobile network, and was strictly using wifi.
This afternoon I picked up a German SIM card and activated it on my phone. Now I cannot use my bbm or facebook, even if I turn mobile network on, or my original SIM card.
My bbm on my torch will not work over wifi, I tried it on 3G and it does work so I know the bbm is set up properly. I checked with my carrier and bbm does work over wifi so dont tell me it won't and I do have a data plan. I know other people with the torch as well and their bbm does work over just wifi. I was on the phone with bell and blackberry for 3 hours, and they cant get it to work either, I tried deleting and re-adding the app and just about everything else i could find. Does ANYONE have any idea how to get it to work
I've had my Torch for 7 months now, without a data plan, and ALL wi-fi apps worked fine through my home wifi router. (Facebook, IM+, BB App World). A few weeks ago, they just stopped working through wifi. I can't even use My Rogers Account App..the only TEMPORARY fix is a battery pull, but they'll only be fixed for a couple hour
My blackberry 9800 is no longer working with apps. It appears that all newly installed apps or upgraded apps (purchased or free) now give a 'verify error' on start up. I have re-installed the apps and even re-installed the OS to no avail.Online forums show many others with this issue but the only advice is upgrade to OS 7 which is not an option for the 9800 I own (a bit over a year old) some suggestion the app registry is full but no idea how to fix this.
My BB Torch 9800 has stopped being able to use BBM, emails and a couple more apps through my wifi conection. I am in an area where ther is no network signal, so this service is very essential for me. The internet browser on the phone works ok, and some apps work ok (whats app, facebook). I have been onto O2 and they say evertyhing looks fine at their end, and nothing has accidentally been switched off. My wifes phone (BB Storm with T-Mobile) is still working with BBM ok.
I was running a few tests to see check speed of my browser on my home network over ATT. When I disable the Mobile Network and enable wifi to my home network, I get an error in my browser "You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication".
I connected successfully to my home network as shown by status on top of home screen. Is there another setting I need to select to 'force" use of my home network? I used to have this in my BOLD settings under browser options, but from what I read the connection switch is supposed to happen automatically on the Torch browser.
I try to use the Wifi network when I am outta own, for example in a hotel. When I get access to the wifi network I cannot use BB messenger o any messenger installed on my blackberry Torch. What can I do? Is there any special parameter to get full access to the wifi (no matter where I am) and so, use the messengers and check emails?
I have changed the SIM of my torch that doesnt have data service currently. I am trying to connect to internet through Wi -FI, but it is showing connection error.
I am from Toronto (I'm on Virgin) and I am currently in Switzerland on vacation. I have been using BBM and email over wifi without any problems over the last few days. However, recently BBM and email have stopped working on my phone. Facebook, the App Store, WhatsApp, etc. all work fine, but BBM and email do not.
I have noticed that I no longer have the Blackberry BB icon in the top right-hand corner of my phone (where it shows wifi connection, etc). How do I get BBM/email working again?
I have 2 data plan one sim from du (UEA) and other from Orange (Dom. Rep.) none of them are working with wifi, I am in Iran, I even tried it through VPN, still no luck.
I just upgraded from the Torch 9800 to the Torch 9860. Most of the apps that I paid for no longer work. Is there a patch that will let the OS6 apps work with OS7? I spent too much money for none of these to no longer work.
Wifi media sync has stopped working for some reason. On the BB when I go to the Wifi Sync it says "waiting for connection to desktop by usb". I've synced it a few times, but it continues to say desktop sync did not complete?
I have a net gear router in my home and i connect it through the bb 9800, but the service status always shows that the bb internet service is connected through the mobile network, i tried it with another router and it was successfully working and the bb internet service is connected through the wifi whenever the wifi is connected.
I have downloaded WhatsApp, LINE and Touch via BB AppWorld and they do not work after installing. The error message is like this one for WhatsApp: "Error starting WhatsApp: Error loading modue "WhatsApp" Verify Error".

I am using WiFi internet at university which is accessed via a proxy. Although almost all the websites are accessible through PC except torrents, The following examples on my Nokia C7 won't just connect to network. Social Networking (Facebook) app from Ovi Shazam Nokia Drop Lyrics Skype Internet Radio I would like to mention that Mail, Ebuddy, Opera works perfectly on WiFi and Facebook is also not blocked.
Im using nokia 5530 and usually it goes slow and some of its apps stop working like music player hangs but remain playing. it slows down while sending or receiving messages even when messages are in outbox. Its RAM remains 80mb full even when no application running only 40-45mb is available. Sometimes its headphones' player buttons stop working and start working after restart.
I'm not sure how to connect my school email to my blackberry Torch. My school e-mail is weird because when I go inside everything looks exactly like gmail but it isn't exactly gmail beacuse you can't sign on from www.gmail.com. Gotta go through the school website. It does provide instructions on how to link to the Blackberry but it doens't work for the Torch because the option doesn't exist. (Instructions)To set up the BlackBerry's email client with Google Apps email (IMAP), just follow these steps: On your BlackBerry device, navigate to your home screenSelect the icon that lets you set up email (this can be called Setup, Setup Wizard, Email Setup, BlackBerry Set-up, E-mail settings, or Personal Email Set-up)Follow the setup instructions provided on your device to create a new e-mail accountBe sure to enter the following:Mail Server: imap.gmail.comUsername: [your full Google Apps email address]Password: [your Google Apps password]IMAP Port: 993Allow the system to add your account, but do not enter your Google Apps password into the utility boxes (this causes the system to default to POP3 instead of IMAP)Select NextSelect Next again (bypassing the 'Additional Information Required' section)Select your account type, then select Next. You may encounter a 'We were unable to configure...' error. Select I will provide the settings to continueSelect the option that mentions 'IMAP/POP'Select I will provide the settings..., then select NextSelect Set up existing email account...Enter your Google Apps account information here, with 'imap.gmail.com' as your mail serverSelect NextSelect Save

1. images are not automatically appearing (need to click get images) 2. the HTML emails are appearing too wide. I have to scroll to the right to see the other half of the email.
