View 1 RepliesI was running a few tests to see check speed of my browser on my home network over ATT. When I disable the Mobile Network and enable wifi to my home network, I get an error in my browser "You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication".
I connected successfully to my home network as shown by status on top of home screen. Is there another setting I need to select to 'force" use of my home network? I used to have this in my BOLD settings under browser options, but from what I read the connection switch is supposed to happen automatically on the Torch browser.
Anyone else having problems? When i view an email
1. images are not automatically appearing (need to click get images)
2. the HTML emails are appearing too wide. I have to scroll to the right to see the other half of the email.
I got my 9800 from Canada, and using it in Taiwan.
Model: Torch 9800
Carrier: ChungHwa Telecom
OS: 6.0 Bundle 2921 (v6.0.0.666, platform 6.60.241)
I have the BIS plan from my carrier, and connecting via 3G is OK. The problem is, it seems like it's not connecting via wifi. The setting tells me that I am connecting to my home WIFI router.
The router is in my living room, and I am using my computer to stream video from internet at this moment, so the WIFI, internet should be ok, in an adequate speed to download hi-res video. I have very low 3G signal in my living room, and I am expecting my 9800 to use the high speed internet, but it seems it's not doing it... It could not even connect to [URL].The phone acts like this since I bought it, brand new. But it always acts like this.
I recently got a a blackberry Torch 9800 through kijiji. It's great but I'm a little unsure how to set up the phone to use only wifi (since I don't often use the internet).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently picked up a 9800 Torch for next to no money and I thought I'd be able to get to grips with it pretty quickly. I've come from a Samsung i900 Omnia, so I'm not new to smartphones! However, this BlackBerry has me stumped.I've read through a lot of threads both here and all over the Internet trying to work out how to connect my Torch to my home network via Wi-Fi, but I'm at a loss as to how to get it to work.A little background: I'm on Orange with a PAYG SIM, which I've been using with my Omnia for the past two years with no problem. When I top up my account I get free mobile internet for the rest of that month so I don't relly feel I need a specific BlackBerry add-on. I doubt I'll be using any of the features that require a specific data plan as I'll just be using the Torch for picking up webmail by using my free Orange internet access. So, I've tried tweeking the TCP settings and I can connect to the internet via Orange Mobile Internet with no problems using Opera Mini. If I try and connect using the built-in browser I seem to get get "Cannot connect to server" error more often than not. (On a side note, I prefer Opera Mini anyway as it seem to be much faster.)However, no matter what I do I simply cannot get the Torch to connect to my home network via Wi-Fi. Do I have to buy a data plan for this function to work? If so that does seem somewhat counter productive. In over two years of use I never had a single problem getting my Omnia to connect to my home network.

In my house I have poor signle but it is perfect outside and everything seems to work just fine on the rogers network.I have been incontact with rogers and my sim,IMEI are registered with rim (sa indicated with tech support). When I am inside connected to my router I have no internet on the bb but the internet does work on my laptop and desktop one wired one wireless. The wifi says it is connected but there is no UMA indicated but the wifi logo is white there is no browser, facebook etc. Message: "Unable to connect to theinternet, please try again later."

View 2 Replies View RelatedEverytime I use it , it says I'm not on a plan that supports it . I have my device connected to wifi but it still won't work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use my phone on Wifi, it works fine for about 10-15 minsutes and then crashes the router that it connects to making the internet on the whole network go down. this happens at home, at other peoples homes, at work or even in public wifi areas like hotels or retail stores (yes I've tried it a few different places)I've tried calling my phone provider a long time ago and they were stumped at this issue but since the wifi technically works the stores refused to do anything on a warranty basis while it was still active. It's not like wifi is a must for me, the internet speed on the torch is still quite slow and I have tons of data on my plan that I don't use but I wouldn't mind getting it fixed so that I can actually turn on my wifi antenna without worrying about crashing everyone's networks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I set up my Torch 9800 to connect to Wi-Fi, the home screen reports the SSID of the access point, but when I attempt to use the browser, it reports "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later." The "Device and Status Info" screen reports the WLAN IP Address as 0.0.0.0. My wireless access point reports that the BB device is "on", and is assigned an IP address (192.168.2.17).
At one point my initial screen reported that three updates were available. However, each time that I clicked on a line offering an update, an error message reported that "The data service is not operational", and the message about the update went away.
Snooping with Wireshark show that, when the BB is turned on, an ISAKMP tunnel is established between the BB device (at address 192.168.2.17) and segw.uma.rogers.com (at 74.198.30.49), so there is absolutely nothing wrong with the physical wireless connection. (My cellular supplier is Rogers.)
My BB was received (brand new) in early April 2012, and I updated the device from 6.0 bundle 695 to 6.0 bundle 2921 on 2012-04-12, after installing the Desktop Software on my PC. (The Desktop Software offered the update, so I just did it; I was not even aware of this community until later.)
The message 'A communication failure has occurred. The server may be busy.., please try again later" . I have an unlocked phone, and it worked fine on the wifi with a foreign SIM card. I traveled abroad always with the mobile network off and just using the wifi and it worked perfectly. Only when came back to the U.S. and inserted my AT&T SIM card and registered the phone with them, the wifi did not work any more, even though it connects to all the available wifi networks.I have tried everything: re-registering the phone with the previous foreign SIM card; reset the phone to factory defaults; but it did not solve the problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just sync my new torch from my old bold. All info transfered perfectly including my 2 email accounts.
I have the misfortune of living in a 2G only area on remote Island. SMS, phone calls and wifi only. I had my old Bold working through wifi hot spots onto my gmail account and it was sending and receiving emails just fine but the torch just keeps saying 'activation failed. A service connection is unavailable' each time I try to activate the account.
Seems as though it wont work through wifi, i can surf the net with no problems
I'm having a problem with my home wireless network and my Blackberry Torch. My phone is able to locate and connect to my home wireless network, but when I attempt to browse the internet, I get the following message: "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider My internet and wireless network are working fine. I connected my desktop computer to the wireless network and browsed the internet without issue, my wife's phone (iPhone4) works without problem on the wifi network, and I checked with my internet service provider- they see no problems as well.On a hunch, I drove down to a local Starbucks to find a wifi hotspot. I found one, connected to it, and browsed the internet without any error messages. So now it appears that when I connect to a free wifi hotspot everything's fine but with my home network I get the error message above. The only thing I changed was the network.

I was trying to access the app world but then again my Blackberry id is not authenticated due to "network problems". However, the rest of the wifi devices here at home are working perfectly. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy BB Torch 9800 is not working! I can't even get the original JVM error to come up now - only reboot. I can't function without it. (I'm running OS6, bundle 2647) I chatted w/AT&T, but they directed me back to Blackberry.I have tried soft reboot, hard reboot, restoring from desktop software, re-downloading BBSAK to wipeout & reload OS6, but my phone will not even show as connected so desktop software & BBSAK will not recognize my device. After removing the battery, the red LED light comes on, the screen lights up, but the bar at startup wont even get 25% across now before it shuts down & restarts again. What can I do to get my BB Torch to reboot?
