View 9 RepliesI was running a few tests to see check speed of my browser on my home network over ATT. When I disable the Mobile Network and enable wifi to my home network, I get an error in my browser "You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication".
I connected successfully to my home network as shown by status on top of home screen. Is there another setting I need to select to 'force" use of my home network? I used to have this in my BOLD settings under browser options, but from what I read the connection switch is supposed to happen automatically on the Torch browser.
The instant my browser starts to load a page my phone switches from wifi to 3G (I see it switch up on the top bar). I don't know how long this has been going on; I learned about it this month after getting wifi in my home and cutting my data plan from 2GB to 200MB--and going over ther limit. My wifi signal ranges from -39 to -67 dBM, which is in the full to three-quarter range on the wifi signal indicator. The service status indicates I'm connected, and wifi diagnostics indicates no issues. If I turn off my mobile network, the browser uses the wifi with no problems. Lastly, my BB app RSS newsreader uses wifi with no problem, and when invoking the browser from within the newsreader, the browser stays on wifi!RIM technical support said this is happening because my phone senses my mobile carrier signal is stronger than wifi, so it uses mobile data instead. In other words, this is a "feature".I don't buy it. Everything I've read says the web browser should use wifi if it's available.

I'm having a problem with my home wireless network and my Blackberry Torch. My phone is able to locate and connect to my home wireless network, but when I attempt to browse the internet, I get the following message: "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider My internet and wireless network are working fine. I connected my desktop computer to the wireless network and browsed the internet without issue, my wife's phone (iPhone4) works without problem on the wifi network, and I checked with my internet service provider- they see no problems as well.On a hunch, I drove down to a local Starbucks to find a wifi hotspot. I found one, connected to it, and browsed the internet without any error messages. So now it appears that when I connect to a free wifi hotspot everything's fine but with my home network I get the error message above. The only thing I changed was the network.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I had my 8310 curve there were a crapload of options in the brower settings and one of them was to select which type of brower it viewed the webpage as, (blackberry, IE, etc.)
anyways, I'd like to know if this option still exists, because I'm trying to access a mobile website but its coming up as the full website. When I tried putting an m. in front of the website it didnt work so I'm not sure how to access it.
I have a curve 9220 os 7 and when ever I browse the internet through it I lose credit even when I'm having the wifi turned on! how to make it default to wifi browsing like how we could do in os 5 by changing to hotspot browser. if we can use facebook app on wifi without any data plan !!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a bb curve 9320 and I'm very happy with it. I bought it unlocked and I'm using it with T-Mobile_text and talk only(no data plan)I have one concern: I've been reading in some forums people say they have trouble and complain that WiFi options are very limited without a data plan.I have successfully connected my WiFi and I'm using the native browser to surf the web. Does this mean I might get charged extra at the end of the month?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi've been struggling with my new blackberry curve ATT 8520 v5.0.0.822 (bundle 1385, platform 5.2.0.76)it is killing my user experience and i am about to give up and not go to blackberries ever again.
1) battery dies every 4 hrs. there is a ticking clock showing which makes it hard to navigate through the menus. what i've done: logged out of all apps in the swtich programs menu (except for standard short-cuts, like browser, phone, messages, home). swtiched to mobile only (vs mobile, wifi preferred), my wifi is always off. one of the problems is it often searches for the network while network is actually available on, say, an att phone sitting next to me. so no wifi, no apps running in the background, all settings reset to low battery use as detailed out in some forums. what to do?
2) i can't access wifi. i dont have a data plan. i turn on wifi, it shows the correct network and that that network is on.when i try to turn on AT&T browser, i get "you are not currently in an area that can handly data communication". what i've done: cleaned out all settings in enterprise activation tried registeringhost routing table, but it showes the following message "registration messaged queued. it will be sent once data coverage is available". yet the wifi network is on!is there something wrong with the browser or the setup? do i have to download another wifi broswer, not At&t, or is it the question of settings? if so, which ones?
The browser on my phone is not working, both over WiFi and my network connection. But all my apps, IM, and email that uses the internet are working with both connection. It won't load any pages.

Also, when I turn off cellular. txt messages don't seem to get pushed through when they are sent.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 3G CDMA WiFi OS v5.0.0.1015 Bundle 1656. This phone was with Verizon previously and I have no present carrier. I want to take this phone to Europe to work WiFi and possibly a European Sim Card. I worked with Verizon and the phone is unlocked. I took it to Verizon, and they, as I had done, connected to a WiFi network (ID above clock in white), data and roaming turned off, and received a "success" on setting up. I noticed the "WiFi" symbol is a dull white, as opposed to the network name which is bright white. I go to the browser and it allows me to put in a URL, but when I try to go there, "Internet is not available, check with provider". The browser is set to Hotspot. I have removed the battery to no avail, and have done a security wipe, but the results are the same.Is there a setting I am missing, or something else basic I have overlooked?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the browser application that came with the phone (earth logo), the internet connection got interrupted randomly. Sometimes it's 20 sec and sometimes it's 5 min.It doesn't really matter where I use it, school, home or other Wifi areas.I was told there's no solution to this problem. it's just a known Nokia issue, but I believe there's got to be something I could do. I tried downloading another browser from Ovi. It worked fine on WiFi without password/security. But when it comes to school's network or other password-protected Wifi, it is not able to connect without using the orginal browser to connect first and leaving it on while using the new browser.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been traveling a lot recently and taking advantage of using the airport lounges to relax before boarding my flights. The Admirals Club (American Airlines), the Red Carpet Club (United Airlines), the Chairman's Club (US Airways) often offer complimentary wifi access, usually via T-Mobile. Typically what you do is navigate to a web page co-branded with the airline's logo and click on "Wifi access" or a similar link. The problem is that the T-Mobile hotspot categorizes the Bravo as a phone, not a PC browser, and never takes you to the specific page for that airport lounge; I kept getting sent to a page where I was supposed to log in with a T-Mobile username. I finally gave up and called T-Mobile hotspot support who pointed me in the right direction even though they don't sell the Bravo.
Open your Bravo's stock browser.Enter about:debug in URL field and press Go. No visible feedback is given after the command is entered. Select Menu --> More --> Settings. At the bottom of the Settings list you should see 9 items in a section called Debug.Select the UAString item and choose Desktop.Press the back arrow to return to the browser. You should now be able to access the URL that gives you the lounge wifi access. You can set the UAString back to Android once you're connected to the wifi, I found.
I was able to surf the internet using my torch browser 2 days ago but not today and yestersday. It seems that whenever I select the browser my torch goes "hang".

i have recently activated the data plan on my phone, and now i am still not able to set up the connection so i can use it on the go. when i'm connected to home wi-fi i can use the browser but not other apps like windows msger, and when i'm out even though i do have a data plan on my phone i'm not able to use the browser, or anything. i can't set up email either because the error msg keeps showing up saying i don't have the right configurations/failed to connect to server.
