I have a BB Torch 9800 and I'm having some trouble with a message notifier on the top of the front screen that don't get off anyway.It's like a notifier from an e-mail or a text message, but is some icon with a white envelope and a bb symbol. I looked for every app and can't find where it came from.
View 1 RepliesI've got a new Blackberry Torch 9800 that was issued to me by my company. Needless to say it has my company email account on it and I've also just added my personal email account to it as well. In the 3 weeks since I first got the phone I've had only the corporate email account active and have thus become dependent on the New Message notifier icon at the top of the home screen.
When I see 1 or more new messages I no longer have any idea if it is a work email or a personal one. Any way to change the notifier icon for my personal email account so at a glance I can see how many items I have for either account. I know I could just turn off the notifier function for the personal account which would remove it from that notification area, but I'd really prefer not to do that, I just want some ability to tell the two apart at a glance.
On my Torch screen there is a message icon that tells me when I have a new text message and how many I have... Until recently, when I read the message(s) the icon would clear. Now it doesnt clear, even if I delete the message after reading. My little icon current has "54" next to it and is growing daily... What can I do? Oh, I am with ATT and just downloaded the current Blackberry update, but to no avail...

I did some digging around and found out that it might be a BlackBerry messenger friend request but when I open messenger there are no updates.
Whenever I receive a text message from a sender like American Airlines where their name/number is a random set of numbers, it will not remove itself from the home page list even if I delete it. If I select it after I have deleted it, it's just a blank message. Any ideas as to how to resolve this? The only thing that has worked for me so far is to reset the phone. I don't want to have to do that each time a message of this type comes in to my inbox.

It's one thing that drives me nuts because the OS interface is placing an SMS notifier saying I have a new one, I see that I have one new message, I hover over the SMS icon on the home screen and it has a prefix (1). I deleted ALL sms msgs and it's still telling me I have one. What do I do? This happened after I did a backup and restore. Maybe because I had an unread SMS before restoring data from my old 8330?

I checked text and both email accounts and it always shows 1 email on the upper bar. Is there some way to reset it? It will still show more when I get other emails but if I get 2 it shows 3.

Even though I have deleted the text message and I've tried everything to try and get it to go away. Today I have a Blackberry Messenger Message that won't delete as well. Does anyone else have this problem and figure out a way to refresh and get ride of it? I've tried turning the device on and off a few times but doesn't fix the issue.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor last 2 weeks I've had a SIM card error message on my Torch 9800. It also shows an SOS message where the signal strength should be. The error message goes away when I'm in range of a wireless network which my phone has been set up for (my home, and where I work). Otherwise it won't receive/sent messages when I'm outside one of these zones. I've had tried opening the phone up and removing/reinserting the SIM card. It doesn't work. Now I have a phone that pretty much doesn't work, except in very small zones. What can I do to get my phone fixed. Does this sound like something I can do myself, or do I need to send it to RIM to be fixed.

I am only getting it when sending to 1 friend in my phonebook, plus this was the last person I entered in my phonebook. It is the right number as I am getting multiple text off this person, its just when I am replying.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter only a couple of days with my torch and not having modified it all, all of a sudden when I click on the TEXT message icon, it just shows my regular inbox. It used to show only SMS messages and was really cool. Now it shows emails and all! I dont see anywhere to change this back to the original behavior. I did a hard reset with no luck. So far I love my phone even with the minor annoyances like it hangs for a few seconds after unlocking it everytime, fine I can live with that. But I really want to fix this text message thing
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had my BB Torch 9800 for few month. Previously used to work fine, all my emails used to show up in message folder. But these days when I receive emails my bb flashes red and it shows on top of the screen emails icon. But when I open my messages folder it shows empty folder without any emails, even though I can see the email icon showing there is emails awaiting. I do aware of this option that, if I press bb menu and then press show all, my email address with my name will show up. With this way I can view received emails. But I don't want to use this option, as I prefer all my emails goes to message folder, that way I can have more space to download other apps.
Note: if i reboot my device all emails shows up in message folder! I don't want to reboot my device everytime I face this problem.
I keep getting the following message:"The network you are connected to appears to be a hotspot.You may be required to consent to legal terms and/or set up an account to get internet access. Hotspot operators may charge service fees for internet access". However, its a free network that my other devices, such as my playbook connect to without problems. When I click "OK" I get another message that says: "This is a Wi-Fi service. Please ensure your device has an active Wi-Fi connection and try again." I click OK, and it takes my to the BB browser, which of course doesn't work.Its like it wants me to give permission to use the network, but I need to use the network to give the approval.
-WiFi is enabled
-Bluetooth is enabled
-Other devices including Playbook currently work on the network
-Repeatedly gives me the first message above, followed by the second message above
I am looking for a thread or would like to create one that will instruct a newbie on how to clean up (or hide) those apps I don't want or use, on the main screen. Also would like to know recommendations as to best apps to have, that don't suck memory. (Maybe an app to free up wasted space?)
View 13 Replies View RelatedOn my Blackberry Toch 9800, it seems to freeze up on several occassions, most recently when downloading an application from "App World."After downloading an application from App World, when you run the application for the first time, it will ask you if you want to "share personal information." Whether it is checked or unchecked, the screen just freezes up after clicking "OK."
Is there a fix for this? This is a brand new device and I am already experiencing several screen lock up issues. I have already done a hard / soft reset, as well as a battery pull. I have also uninstalled the application and re-installed it, only to have this issue continue.
Just recently noticed that my phone screen will flicker and a small red light will flicker (very dim) to the right of the LED when I am on the active call screen. Since i bought the invisibleShield, and absolutely love it. I was hoping the awesome CrackBerry community might make it better. Since it's a large screen protector that you have to cut up yourself, i was hoping someone had something i can trace and cut along a line, to better fit my screen. So I started using it with it slid closed and just texting on the screen and it worked great until the other day when the screen would no longer come on, even when it was closed. I know the phone still works because the red light was flashing because I got a message but I couldn't get the screen to come back on because I'm guessing it has short circuited enough that it gave out. So my question is, I got a cheap phone onto my contract now, but I don't have any contacts: how can I get my contacts from my BB where I can't see the screen onto this other phone? I have my SIM card in the other phone but no contacts are on it.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have had a Blackberry Torch 9800 for 12 months and I removed it from my vehicles "Hands Free Kit" and put it in my phone holder on my belt. When I removed the phone from my holder, the screen was black and frozen and none of the button worked, not even the touch screen. The phone works correctly if I open the slide but shuts off when I close the slide again. When the slide is opened I have no on screen typing and have to use the keyboard on the slide. When I put the phone back in my hands free kit, the slide needs to be closed so I cannot answer any calls or use the touch screen.

I checked & it has the latest OS. I've also hard booted it several times by pulling the battery. Sometimes I can get the screen to come back on. Sometimes I also freezes up when it comes back on.
