I have a new torch 9800 and the screen does not go to the off mode while it is not in use. I have changed the backlight and timeout setting but still not fix. Even when i lock the phone the screen the screen goes blank and it get limunated in few seconds.
View 1 Repliesrecently my screen would take afew tries with the unlock button to actually unlock, now my screen has compeletely turned off, but all my buttons still light up and work, i can touch and use the screen (although not being able to see what i am doing, i have navigated my phone to play music etc from memory) there are no cracks or damage to my screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was using Facebook app on my phone when I noticed it froze on the screen which I assumed was the phone lagging since I had a couple other apps open but then I also noticed my LED light come on in a still abnormal red, a dark red and then immediately my phone shut off completely. I did a battery pull thinking I just needed to reboot it but that didn't even work since even after multiple battery pulls the reboot screen won't even show up, no loading bar, no LED either. Just nothing at all. Tried leaving it alone for a few hours, put the battery back in and still nothing. Left the battery in while charging in and still nothing.

I woke up to charge it and there was no response besides a red light when plugged in then it went out and then no light eventually. I ordered a new battery and got it today. It charged for 10 seconds then tried turning itself on and died and kept repeating this process and now im back to the red light when I plug it in and thats all..The light keeps going out then no response.

It send me the message saying welcome to bb but when the battery died i havent been able to get it charge again. When I connect it to the charger the light comes on but stays on only for like 10 seconds and thats it. When I connected to the computer the same the light stays on for like 10 seconds and it goes off. I haven't been able to even turn it on.

I took it into my carrier today and they hooked it up to the computer and said that I just needed to update the software. This was fine, but by the time I got home my phone had shut off and I cannot get it to turn back on to do the updates.I have been searching these forums for hours and the only solution I can find is to wipe the phone clean and put a new OS on it. I have downloaded a new OS and I have tried several times to put in onto the phone but I can't get it to work. I have opened the application loader, but when it gets to the device application selection screen, there are no options for me to select. I tried to go into my files and choose the OS that I just downloaded but an error pops up (XML syntax error on line1) to be specific.

Anyway i plugged it in to a wall charger and after maybe forty minutes it flashed on and all was working fine for about an hour and a half. charge was half done and i was about to leave the house when....again it went dead! this is now 6 hours ago! its been on charge since and still i have had nothing..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm really surprised to not see more posts with questions or information about turning off the tilt function of the 9800. The most annoying thing is that I like showing 3 rows of icons on the home screen, but if you tilt it, it changes to 2 rows, tilt it back to portrait and it stays at 2. This happens every time. Not to mention, on a reboot, it reverts back to 1 row! Unlike the Storm, you cannot set a default number of rows. Regardless, I would ONLY use the landscape option while watching videos....so the tilt is very annoying. Anybody know of any way to turn off the tilt function? Maybe in the programming?
When I had my Storm, there were plenty of applications out there to stop the tilt, but ALL BUT ONE did not retain the settings after a reboot. This was very annoying. Even the one that did retain after a reboot, sometimes failed to work properly.
How do I turn off the bluetooth light? I use a earbud 80% of the time and the flashing blue annoys the heck out of me.
View 14 Replies View RelatedTorch 9800. My L.E.D light will not turn off. It is blue. It is not flashing. It is not because of the bluetooth (I leave it off and do not use.) if the message indicator is on it is purple (blue + red). The other colors still work but end up blended with the blue. I have pulled the battery. (obviously it didn't help or I wouldn't be posting this.) I have contacted my carrier for support. No help. They will just replace the phone. My warranty is void and can't afford to buy a new torch. I have turned off everything I can and checked all options. Check the cpu and can not find anything running that shouldn't be.

I get a message: "Uncaught exception: Application_net_rim_bb_file _explorer (1037) is not responding, process terminated. OK. " When I click OK the camera is still on and won't turn off. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the Torch (9800) OS version: 6.0.0.668.I've had it for just over a year without problems but recently it will freeze to the point where I have to do a battery pull because it won't resolve the issue otherwise. Even then sometimes it doesn't come back on. It will slowly flash red (LED light) and the screen will remain black.It's done this twice where it won't turn back on at all. Eventually it does but the last time it did this, it didn't work for 2 days before coming back on (of it's own accord). I updated the software when it finally came back on as I was told it could be a software issue so I now have the OS version stated at the top of this message as opposed to 6.0.0.600.

View 13 Replies View RelatedOn my Blackberry Toch 9800, it seems to freeze up on several occassions, most recently when downloading an application from "App World."After downloading an application from App World, when you run the application for the first time, it will ask you if you want to "share personal information." Whether it is checked or unchecked, the screen just freezes up after clicking "OK."
Is there a fix for this? This is a brand new device and I am already experiencing several screen lock up issues. I have already done a hard / soft reset, as well as a battery pull. I have also uninstalled the application and re-installed it, only to have this issue continue.
Just recently noticed that my phone screen will flicker and a small red light will flicker (very dim) to the right of the LED when I am on the active call screen. So I started using it with it slid closed and just texting on the screen and it worked great until the other day when the screen would no longer come on, even when it was closed. I know the phone still works because the red light was flashing because I got a message but I couldn't get the screen to come back on because I'm guessing it has short circuited enough that it gave out. So my question is, I got a cheap phone onto my contract now, but I don't have any contacts: how can I get my contacts from my BB where I can't see the screen onto this other phone? View 14 Replies View RelatedI have had a Blackberry Torch 9800 for 12 months and I removed it from my vehicles "Hands Free Kit" and put it in my phone holder on my belt. When I removed the phone from my holder, the screen was black and frozen and none of the button worked, not even the touch screen. The phone works correctly if I open the slide but shuts off when I close the slide again. When the slide is opened I have no on screen typing and have to use the keyboard on the slide. When I put the phone back in my hands free kit, the slide needs to be closed so I cannot answer any calls or use the touch screen.

I checked & it has the latest OS. I've also hard booted it several times by pulling the battery. Sometimes I can get the screen to come back on. Sometimes I also freezes up when it comes back on.
