BB (RIM) :: Using An Unlocked CDMA Tour With A Sim Card

I'm thinking about upgrading from a Pearl to a Tour (both cdma) so that when I'm traveling in the U.S. I can unlock it and use a tmobile or at&t sim it, to cut down on roaming costs. I'm confused as to how it works though. If I put a sim card in there does it completely negate the cdma portion of the phone...using the sim card provider's data/text messages/voice plan or is there a way to access both the cdma and sim card at the same time?
For example I'd like to use my cdma text package and data while using the voice/talk time portion on the sim. Is this possible? Sorry for the noobie confufflement
does anyone no how to transfer all my contact from my Tour which is cdma with no sim card to my new Torch with sim card. i cant do it using blackberry desktop software.
I bought a unlocked sprint phone to work on my network (rogers) works fine, but when i go dial it shows the older persons number. I know i can turn this off to not show it but i want to change it. It can't be changed through general options. Im guessing its stored in the device with the last owners SPRINT CDMA settings. On a verizon i can do ##000000 but it doesn't work on sprint. Wipe security didn't erase it , Will JL_CMDER delete that??
I recently bought an unlock code for my Verizon branded Storm 9530 and am a bit confused as to what networks I can actually use it on. From what I understand I can now use the phone on any CDMA or GSM network. except for Sprint (because they won't activate unlocked Storms)?
I need to have a Sprint BB Style 9670 unlocked to use on Canadian CDMA networks. It doesn't have a SIM card. Anyone have this problem or can point me to the proper way to unlock it? I chatted with Sprint but they don't want to do anything.
Does anyone know if the BBM service on my 9630 Tour Can be unlocked?My 3 yr contract is going to end soon, and I would like to unlock BBM service to use this phone as a travel phone since I owned it.
Just went from a storm 1 to a tour and I am loving it. I can't believe how much more app. memory I have!
However, I cannot get my tour device to show up in windows explorer. It connects and I can browse my media card. There is no drive in windows explorer for the device itself. I can connect to desktop manager and back-up my device memory so I know the computer can read my blackberry device. I upgraded the os with no problems.
I am running vista home premium with blackberry os 5.0 from sprint. I am on verizon. I do have mass storage mode enabled and all of those memory settings set to yes (auto connect, etc.). BBSAK and Blackberry Master Control Program see the device as well. I do not use roxio media manager and it is not installed with my desktop manager. It was too slow and clunky when I had my storm so I never bothered with it.
I had a 9630 that was unlocked by Verizon in January 2010. I had it unlocked so I could use my SIM Card for Vodacom in South Africa which had a blackberry contract, inclusive of Data. I was in South Africa from January to Mid-September.The phone worked perfectly until May, upon which I had occasional cut-outs of BIS. By the end of May, I had suffered 2 weeks without internet. I filed many complaints with Vodacom, and the issue was even escalated to RIM. But I never had any progress. It worked for a day, sparatically. The issue continued until I left in Mid-September. Upon arriving back in the USA, my blackberry worked perfectly on my CDMA Verizon contract,but I am planning on returning to South Africa. I would like to know what this issue was, and how it can be fixed. Vodacom and Vodaworld (a Tech World for Vodacom) could not do much, as the phone was American and, though there are many people in South Africa with the same phone, all have suffered the same problem. We also upgraded to OS 5 and reverted to the previous OS 4 to try see if it would make a difference.As a side note, I was able to use WAP browsing, which I had to pay for, but the BIS didn't work, no matter how many HRT or battery pull restarts I attempted.
I had a Blackberry Tour 9630 (sprint) that got stolen while in Slovenia. I ordered a replacement from sprint (same Tour 9630) and they neglected to tell me that the phone must be activated before it was sent out to me. So, I receive the phone and the SIM card and spend about 3 hours on the phone with Sprint customer service trying to get BIS services to work. Voice services work just fine but BIS services don't work at all. I confirm that BIS is activated on my phone and international roaming is active, check on both.So after hours on the phone they come to the conclusion that the phone needed to be activated in the US before it was shipped out to me. I then go another route, knowing that my phone is unlocked, {SIM, network, network subnet, service provider, and corporate} all say "disabled", and try to use my Slovenian SIM card (SI MOBIL) with BIS services activated and still only voice. I even try the Slovenian SIM card in a colleague's blackberry and it works just fine.
I plan on giving away my 9630 Tour because I got a new phone, so I was wondering, do I need to remove the SIM card from the device? I've never used the Tour out of the country and my phone line is already on my new phone. I've already wiped it clean and reinstalled a fresh OS 5.0.
My friend have presented me a Verizon BB9630 unlocked that he've purchsed on e-bay in USA. I've registered BIS in local provider (MTS Russia) and now I have following problem. BIS is working only after I switch of GPRS service on my sim-card (GSM). And once GPRS is enabled BIS is not working.
Is there any solution for this problem or this phone is unable to work in Russian network in a way when GPRS Internet and BIS exist simultaneousely.
I have a Unlocked Tour 9630 which I am now using with FIDO . Everything on the phone seems to work EXCEPT . CALLER ID , which is driving me nuts , not knowing whose call I missed.
80% of people calling the phone it will say "UNKNOWN CALLER" . There are only a few of my contacts that their name will appear when calling . The rest of my contacts, although I have their numbers saved in my phone will still appear as "UNKNOWN"
I've done everything from , changing around my Smart Dialing to include my area code and canada as the country code . Encryption is disabled on the phone.
Recently purchased an unlocked verizon bb 9630 tour. I have connected it to my verizon account and I have a data plan, but i cannot connect to the internet. There isnt even a browser icon on the phone. How do I set up the network? Verizon doesnt let you have a bb unless you pay for a data plan, it would be pointless to have it without internet working!
I've got an unlocked Verizon Tour that I'm trying to use in Colombia.I can currently make/receive calls and send and receive texts but I can't find my dad gum browser.

I had the phone wiped entirely clean yesterday because my phone was acting weird and wouldn't make calls(although it would receive them). Anyway, that fixed the problem there. Then I signed up for the data plan for a day to try it out, it immediately said I was connected, and still does when I check. I just simply don't have any way to access the internet and the only option I have when I want to set up email is using the blackberry email. When I go to "manage connections" it tells me I'm connected to Comcel and that my mobile data is "on". It does however say I'm not connected to Blackberry Internet Server or the Blackberry Enterprise server. I think these are different than regular internet though.
Things I've tried:Hard Reset Pulling the battery for 30 seconds while the phone was on Going to options>advanced options>host routing table>and clicking register now Tried toggling between network selection mode A and B(I have no idea what that is, but thought it might do something)
ive been reading about this issue with no results, i have an unlocked bb tour from sprint i wanna use on tmobile, everything works, but it doesnt register on the network, so i can use the bbm, i sent the service books, i did everything, i have the data plan, but is still not registering, any help here?
I have a unlocked Blackberry Tour 9630 that I purchased off ebay. I'm using it with a generic T-mobile internet plan, (someone told me that it would work).
However, whenever I open the browser I would get this error: "Your decivce does not currently have any Browser Configration Service Book entries, Please contact your service provider to enable the Browser on your device".What does this mean, and how can I fix it?
Recently got my hands on a unlocked 9630 from a Sprint buddy. Everything works browser, txt, MMS, calls, even my weather app. Just every time I try to log into Facebook, it tells me "Could not connect because a data service is not available. Please try again later. If this continues, contact your service provider for support".I came from a Tmo BB Curve so the service was already there. I re-registered on the BB network, resent the service books from the web and from my phone, did hard re-starts, went online to My Tmobile and updated the IMEI. I uninstalled the app from the phone, performed a hard reset, then reinstalled the app from the Blackberry App Store.
I was with Mobilicity until I moved in to a different area that didn't have it. I unlocked my phone with a Rogers SIM card and am now using Koodo. Trouble is, my phone is not picking up a mobile network. I manually searched for networks but the only one that shows up is Rogers 2G. Any know what I can do?
My son is visiting Las Vegas this month and was thinking of buying an unlocked 3GS i phone. Will it work in the UK. I know the charger adaptor will be different but as we have an i pad the charger for that will work so thats not a problem. Just wondered if there were any other issues which we should consider.
I broke my old iPhone 4. Instead of going through the hassle, I want to just buy an unlocked iPhone 4s. Can I just transfer the SIM card to the new one with no trouble? Or can I only transfer to an iPhone4?

So I got a new factory unlocked iphone 4s and I wanted to use it as an ipod and I was wondering can you activate the iphone with a unactivated sim card?
I just bought 2 iPhone 4S in Boston, as factory unlocked. When trying to activate them they don't recognize the SIM cards. I even tried the SIM that I'm using in my 4S, but these two look like they are locked. The receipt states ,,Unlocked". can they be locked and marked wrong? Can Apple support ,,unlock" them online if they turn out to be locked?
I have purchased one unlocked Blackberry 8800 from Amazon.com, I am trying to use this phone in India with one GSM mobile services provider, but every time I insert the SIM card I am getting - Insert SIM card error message. making my phone work.
I have Lumia 810 from T-Mobile and unlocked it with a code, that was provided to me by T-Mobile/Nokia. Now trying to use this phone with another GSM carrier, makes me wonder, why would T-Mobile/Nokia disable the option to change/add apn settings? So only calls and sms would work on other sim cards! The internet and mms feature is blocked, because T-Mobile settings are hardcoded into the firmware! I have Lumia 710 which is also T-Mobile branded, but there is a button "add apn" under settings>cellular. I don't know t-mobile chose to do it or nokia, but please add the above option via OTA update, it is really needed!
Ok, media card was working fine, had alot of work pictures stored on it and was becoming a hassle to hunt through all of them to find what I wanted. So, I inserted media card in computer and transfered what I wanted to a folder on the computer. Then I formatted the card using the computer. When I put the card back into the phone, the phone knows its there, but I must have wiped the card completely as none of the folders for video, pics, etc. are on it anymore. If I take a picture and go to find it, the media card does not even show up, just device memory.
Does anybody have a remedy for this? I already tried formatting the card in the phone but that didn't work. The phone is telling me in the memory options that 1.8GB is free, so I know it works, it just lost the folders or whatever........
Yesterday, my phone was ringing and I noticed that it wasn't the ringtone/song that I normally have. I dismissed it thinking that my boyfriend or someone had changed it. When I went to take a picture later on, it prompted a message saying to save it on the device and that no media card was inserted. At this point I started freaking out. I took it out and put it back in several times but no change! Have I lost my pics and music for good.
