IPhone :: If Buy An Unlocked 3GS In The USA Will It Work In The UK With A UK Sim Card
Apr 3, 2012
My son is visiting Las Vegas this month and was thinking of buying an unlocked 3GS i phone. Will it work in the UK. I know the charger adaptor will be different but as we have an i pad the charger for that will work so thats not a problem. Just wondered if there were any other issues which we should consider.
First let me start by saying that I do know what I am doing I have a 3G which I have unlocked and take regularly with me to France when I come here for work and I just swap the ATT SIM with the SFR SIM and everything works. This time around I took a 3GS, that is from FR Orange that I have JB and unlocked and works with the ATT SIM in the US no problem. Except that when I got here in France this time around (without my 3 G ) I popped the SIM in and I get what you guys see in the screen shot, the network is found but the bars are horizontal so I get no reception at all. The SIM still works if I try it in another phone. I don't know if ATT still works on the phone since their signal is so spotty here and I just get no service with that SIM here -- I really don't see why it would have stopped working either.I have read every thread on what I think are similar issues but nothing works. I cannot redo the j/b unlock from here since the computer that I use to sync with is back home and I would be without all my music for the rest of the journey and my trip back home. Please let me know if someone has ideas.
I am having issues with sending MMS msgs on my factory unlocked iphone 3g running 3.1.3 on AT&T. I have unlimited data plan and msging on the account but when i send it out i get the dreaded exclamation mark. anyone know a fix?
I bought a used iphone4 in the US. It was supposed to be an officially unlocked phone (BB 04.11.08) and I verified this by inserting a T-Mobile US sim card - I saw the network name on the screen, so I was positive that i was not screwed up. When I returned to Europe with the phone, I put a T-Mobile Hungary SIM card in it - and it didn't work: Invalid SIM card... Can it be still locked? Is there something like a region lock? If I have not seen the TMO US sim card working, I would be sure that this phone is still locked to AT&T..
I broke my old iPhone 4. Instead of going through the hassle, I want to just buy an unlocked iPhone 4s. Can I just transfer the SIM card to the new one with no trouble? Or can I only transfer to an iPhone4?
I would really love to buy an iPhone 4s, but I have a plan on an existing sim card. If I put it into an unlocked one, would I still be able to continue on my current plan??
So I got a new factory unlocked iphone 4s and I wanted to use it as an ipod and I was wondering can you activate the iphone with a unactivated sim card?
I just bought 2 iPhone 4S in Boston, as factory unlocked. When trying to activate them they don't recognize the SIM cards. I even tried the SIM that I'm using in my 4S, but these two look like they are locked. The receipt states ,,Unlocked". can they be locked and marked wrong? Can Apple support ,,unlock" them online if they turn out to be locked?
but yet even Googling this yields no real answers to the question--just conjecture by fake "news" sites that regurgitate facts from Endgadget. If the iPhone 4S truly works with either/or; why can you not use it with either/or?
I'm thinking of buying an 4s unlocked to use on Simple mobile carrier which they allow iPhones to be used on their not work but don't support it as stated on their website. Giving that it's an unlocked iPhone, all I would need is a Simple mobile sim card and I'm good to go but my question is.... will all features work? It would suck if I bought it at full price just to find out some features may not work on the unsupported network. It would defeat the purpose of having an unlocked iPhone if I can't use it on any GMS carrier.
I got my unlocked iphone 4s from Apple store. It works in most of the countries I travel to, but in some it keeps showing a 'Searching' signal! I had to buy a turbo sim for it to work! Is the problem from my 4s or the sim? an why this is happening?
I was with Mobilicity until I moved in to a different area that didn't have it. I unlocked my phone with a Rogers SIM card and am now using Koodo. Trouble is, my phone is not picking up a mobile network. I manually searched for networks but the only one that shows up is Rogers 2G. Any know what I can do?
I'm thinking about upgrading from a Pearl to a Tour (both cdma) so that when I'm traveling in the U.S. I can unlock it and use a tmobile or at&t sim it, to cut down on roaming costs. I'm confused as to how it works though. If I put a sim card in there does it completely negate the cdma portion of the phone...using the sim card provider's data/text messages/voice plan or is there a way to access both the cdma and sim card at the same time?
For example I'd like to use my cdma text package and data while using the voice/talk time portion on the sim. Is this possible? Sorry for the noobie confufflement
I have a Orange Blackberry 9700 which I have had unlocked. The phone is unlocked and reads the T-mobile SIM card, however I am having no luck at all with email and data facilities on the Blackberry.I have contacted T-Mobile and they have attemepted to send the service books to me however they are not reaching me. They have been through a whole host of procedures to try and get the problem sorted including doing a security wipe and also restoring the email accounts, I have tried to send the service books to myself through the BIS website as well.
It seems odd that I can not connect to the Blackberry Wireless Network because I my device pin is recognised on the T-Mobile website. I have tried to register the device using Host Routing Table but still no joy.If you have any clue as to why I can not access data services then I would really appreciate some help. I do have my data plan enabled, I know sometimes this can be a reason why people have this problem.
I want to buy an HTC desire unlocked, and heard u can get monthly rates with rogers, i am curious though, are there any restrictions in the form of punishment for not bending over to annual contracts? as in crappier and slower performance on the 3 g network or some luxuries being cut off of some sort? what are the rates usually for data plans?
I jumped ship over at Fido a while back and got myself a free LG GW300 before I left with my Fido Dollars. I've unlocked it successfully and can place a roaming AT&T sim card (3G version) into it and it works perfect. The moment I put a Bell sim card into, I get a no sim present error message. Same thing happens on a Mobilicity sim (although I expected them to remain in EDGE roaming due to the phones radio ability)? why a regular Bell 3G sim card won't work in this phone? Any special additional unlock I need to do maybe?I got two codes for my unlock- a Network Unlock, and a Service Provider unlock. I only had to use the Network code to make the AT&T roaming sim work.
I have purchased one unlocked Blackberry 8800 from Amazon.com, I am trying to use this phone in India with one GSM mobile services provider, but every time I insert the SIM card I am getting - Insert SIM card error message. making my phone work.
I have Lumia 810 from T-Mobile and unlocked it with a code, that was provided to me by T-Mobile/Nokia. Now trying to use this phone with another GSM carrier, makes me wonder, why would T-Mobile/Nokia disable the option to change/add apn settings? So only calls and sms would work on other sim cards! The internet and mms feature is blocked, because T-Mobile settings are hardcoded into the firmware! I have Lumia 710 which is also T-Mobile branded, but there is a button "add apn" under settings>cellular. I don't know t-mobile chose to do it or nokia, but please add the above option via OTA update, it is really needed!
Just updated my storm 9550 with the new os .607 and when I tried to reload my AT&T service books I noticed that mms doesnt work, it says service books no found, Is there anyone having this issue with your storm. If you find the solution, please post it here because I try many times to fix it and still nothing.
My brother's friend going to sell his unlocked Storm 2 that he bought from AT&T, will it work on Verizon ? It's unlocked, shouldn't be a problem, right ?
I bought a new, unlocked Xperia Ray from Hong Kong, China. I also upgraded it to the latest available software: 4.1.B.0.587.This Xperia Ray unlocked phone does not work on Bell, Rogers or Videotron carriers in Canada who own the three Canadian cell networks. The IEMI number is rejected from these carriers. I tried the Virgin SIM (uses the Bell network) and the Rogers (Rogers network) SIM, and neither one works. I also called Telus, and no go either.Bell has other users who use the Xperia Ray and one of their affiliates Fido sells the Xperia U and the Xpreia Go. These phones show the same network specs as the Ray (HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - ST18a).Bell network (Virgin and Fido): phone must be HSPA (or UMTS) and,850 MHz and 1900 MHz compatible. (They use HSPA+) ,Rogers network: HSPA+ 850/1900 MHz ,Videotron: HSPA 1700/2100 MHz
I called Bell customer service and they say that it must be a different phone from the Canadian Xperia Ray... but that does not make sense. Isn't there only one Xperia Ray version??? How can one Xperia Ray work and the other not work???Can anyone clearly explain the problem to me? I don't get it and it really sux cause now I need to return the phone, which I really like.
I have just ordered my very frist ever blackberry anyway it is the new torch and it is unlocked and i have been assured that it will work fine with my (3 Australia network) and i manged to get 24 month australian warranty and i have changed my plan over already to ensure i get my bis + 1g(so it should be sweet). So hear is my QuestionsWhat problems can i expect with trying to get the phone to work and function properly? How do i get my bis account working? should i try and get the info i need of 3 now (to speed thing up on the day i get the phone) or do i need the torch in my hand?what else can i do now to make it easy on the day to get it going?
I purchased an Apple-unlocked iPhone 4 (with the SIM-card removed) recently, but when I tried to restore it (due to slowness), it stopped and gave me the error "no SIM card detected."
