I purchased an Apple-unlocked iPhone 4 (with the SIM-card removed) recently, but when I tried to restore it (due to slowness), it stopped and gave me the error "no SIM card detected."
Info:
iPod touch, iOS 5.0.1, 4th Generation, White
I know that unlocked iPhone 4's are out of stock all over UK right now. I'll be visiting London on 13th of September for 5 days. Do you think, Apple Stores will have constant stock by then? I mean, will I be able to walk in and buy 2 iPhones?
Looks like Apple confirmed you can get unlocked iPhones at Apple stores. Too bad you still have to go with AT&T for 3G.I wonder if this changes the mandatory data plan?
I wanted to buy an iPhone 3GS from Apple unlocked for any carrier if I restore it for any reason is it unlocked automatically or do I have to take it to Apple to get it unlocked? Maybe jailbreak?
I have an iphone4 locked by AT&T. The AT&T Email Customer Care for Wireless had sent email to me, saying "The unlock will be available for your device in 48 hours. After the 48 hour waiting period please follow the instructions below."can I unlock my iphone4 now? How can I confirm my iPhone had been unlocked?
how do i get a new iPhone 3gs on vodafone network unlocked by apple? I bought from a friend who got them from an office manager who has updated all the phones to 4s's.
I have an Apple-unlocked iPhone 3GS which I bought in Australia 2 years ago. It's always worked fine with various SIMs and varuious carriers - I travel a lot so unlocked was my chocie as I use SIMs in each country I visit. Recently in UK, I bought and installed a prepaid (pay as you go) SIM while I was there and now I find the phone is locked to that carrier. Well, at least it will not make calls - it'll recieve calls and it'll send and recieve SMS messages, but I can't make any calls - it just begins the calling process then gives call failed message. Now I find the problem, I've moved on to another country so getting the carrier to see to it is impossible for me. So now I have a locked phone because somehow a carrier has been able to disable the factory unlock by using their SIM I installed. This is a carrier I have not used before with this phone.
how can that happen? How can a carrier have that sort of power over the device? How can I get back to the original unlocked state? I've tried a total Restore, but no change - still locked.
Info: MacBook Pro 3.02 GHz, 15, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 8GB RAM, 3 iPods, iPhone 3GS, iPad
I want to buy a used iPhone from eBay Australia who was bought in some carrier (like Optues, Telstra etc...) and unlocked by the carrier for the buyer's request.
Carrier unlock is like factory unlock? I will be able to use this iPhone in any GSM network in the world?
My son is visiting Las Vegas this month and was thinking of buying an unlocked 3GS i phone. Will it work in the UK. I know the charger adaptor will be different but as we have an i pad the charger for that will work so thats not a problem. Just wondered if there were any other issues which we should consider.
I broke my old iPhone 4. Instead of going through the hassle, I want to just buy an unlocked iPhone 4s. Can I just transfer the SIM card to the new one with no trouble? Or can I only transfer to an iPhone4?
I would really love to buy an iPhone 4s, but I have a plan on an existing sim card. If I put it into an unlocked one, would I still be able to continue on my current plan??
So I got a new factory unlocked iphone 4s and I wanted to use it as an ipod and I was wondering can you activate the iphone with a unactivated sim card?
I just bought 2 iPhone 4S in Boston, as factory unlocked. When trying to activate them they don't recognize the SIM cards. I even tried the SIM that I'm using in my 4S, but these two look like they are locked. The receipt states ,,Unlocked". can they be locked and marked wrong? Can Apple support ,,unlock" them online if they turn out to be locked?
I called AT&T about 15 days to request an unlock for my iPhone. Yesterday I got the confirmation email explainig that the IMEI number was unlocked and that I should follow this steps to unlock it:
To complete the unlock, simply:
1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC and verify that you have internet connectivity.
2. Connect your iPhone using the dock connector to USB cable that came with your iPhone.
3. Backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes . [url]...
4. After restoring, your iPhone will be unlocked.
Well I have done that. And the iPhone won't activate. I have inserted my sim card from Argentina (TELECOM PERSONAL is the company) but when I connect to iTunes it gives me this message:
Your request couldn't be processed. We are sorry, but there was an error processing your request. Please try again later. I have, too, tried to do it through the iPhone, in the activation screen (where it is stuck, by the way) but the same, error message.
I have missed the 24th preorder date and I was wondering if by any chance even 1 in million manage to get on hold of a payg iphone 4 (uk) from a carrier like orange, 3 etc. Is there a difference having an officially unlocked iphone from apple vs an ultrasn0w etc. unlock device?? (other than any ethical/moral issues ). Any specific stuff that I will not be able to perform with such an unlock?, any downsides like slowdowns (if it’s a 24/7 background running service etc) ?
I know that O2 official unlock iphones for $15, but I haven’t found any certain info on the other carriers. (note: the phone will not be used to UK at all, so some proposed actions from carriers like: “use the phone for 3 months with the carrier and then ask for an unlock” will not work in my case.)
I was with Mobilicity until I moved in to a different area that didn't have it. I unlocked my phone with a Rogers SIM card and am now using Koodo. Trouble is, my phone is not picking up a mobile network. I manually searched for networks but the only one that shows up is Rogers 2G. Any know what I can do?
I'm thinking about upgrading from a Pearl to a Tour (both cdma) so that when I'm traveling in the U.S. I can unlock it and use a tmobile or at&t sim it, to cut down on roaming costs. I'm confused as to how it works though. If I put a sim card in there does it completely negate the cdma portion of the phone...using the sim card provider's data/text messages/voice plan or is there a way to access both the cdma and sim card at the same time?
For example I'd like to use my cdma text package and data while using the voice/talk time portion on the sim. Is this possible? Sorry for the noobie confufflement
Wondering if my cc will be charged when I pre order. Also, would I be able to use my girlfriends credit card instead of mine even though the phone and line are in my name?
Everyone kept saying you need to use a credit card, but I used my debit, and it was charged. I ordered through AT&T as well, and they sent me an e-mail saying I couldn't use that card. I'm gonna let them cancel that order, since I don't need 2 phones, but does Apple accept debit and credit? I'm worried my order will get rejected soon, since people keep saying credit only.
Can i just clarify this question? Because i received an sms saying that I have to pay SGD1.00 after i pressed the sign up button to create an apple ID. Does anyone have the same problem too? Plus, i did not even buy any app.
