I have an unlocked TMobile 8520 phone that im using on at&t. I cannot surf the internet. I changed the APN to at&t settings but still no internet. When i put my sim in an at&t 8310 everything works fine so im assuming its missing some at&t settings for media net. Where do i start?
View 7 RepliesI have an ATT 8520 Curve unlocked to work with a tmobile sim card and have a few questions...Now that's unlocked I cant setup an external email account (hotmail, gmail, etc...) that icon is missing from the setup section. how can I get that feature? can I also use the bbm feature? I added a friend (and vice-versa) but it just stays as pending. is it possible to bbm? for the above 2 do i need to get the bb data plan so they can work? I've read elsewhere that the best way to get the features would be to load the tmobile handheld software. I went to tmobiles site, I enter my ph# - select the 8520 - click on handheld and it takes me to their 'shop for phones' page. I guess they now by the number that i dont currently have a bb. So I tried a friends ph# from tmobile who has a bb and it still took me to the 'shop for phones' page. So I Am hoping it's just a link glitch going on right now. I did download from this forum the 5.0 OS "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel860_PL5.2.0.47_A5.0.0.509_W ind_Hellas.exe" which obviously is not tmobile. What would loading this different OS allow me to do? Or what features will I have available? and I have lowercase 'edge'.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought 8520 form Amazon, and it's an UNLOCKED international one, the OS is 4.6,i'd like to update to OS5, i download OS5 application from web site, the steps i did are;
1. install that application on my PC;
2.remove vendor.xml file
3.run appLoader
but in the step 3, i can't get item list, it shows up "The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator."
Ok I have a Verizon storm 9530 that's been unlocked. My service provider is T-mobile. I've talked to T-mobile and was able to get my email going. I've just a problem connecting to the internet. There isnt even a browser icon on the phone. How do I set up the network? Verizon doesnt let you have a bb unless you pay for a data plan, it would be pointless to have it without internet working!

When there is no service I can't do anything but sometimes when I put on the flightmode and switch back I can get my carrier name and 3G, but still no phone service. I can go out on the web so the internet connection works but I cant make any calls and so on.
When I try another carrier in the phone, it works just fine! And there is nothing wrong with my simcard, because the card works in my iPhone 4.

I am planning on buying it outright since want to unlock as will use it for travel a lot and saw that ATT is unlocking which is great. But with my focus, though it is unlocked and even with other sim cards in it, I cannot tether since it still tells me to contact ATT. Every once in a while, sims on some carriers in some countries (I have like 40-50 of them) will allow internet sharing...but pretty rare. 3G/4G is way better than the wifi you can find.
So my question is will I be able to unlock 1020 tethering if I buy the phone from ATT. I am travelling to the UK next month and wanted to buy the 64gb version of telefonica carrier since I imagine this would be sim unlocked and tether unlocked--is that right? I also get that I will be paying a serious premium for this, but hope that I might be able to get VAT back when leaving which will take away...

Firstly, apologies if there is a similar thread - I did look around and did not find any specific one.
I bought an unlocked BB Storm 2 9550 from India (to be fair, it is a US Verizon BB Storm 2 9550 which has been unlocked). I used it for a week while I was in India on an Indian service provider (Airtel) and everything (email, bb messenger, browser, apps, etc) worked fine - the top right corner showed EDGE. It worked fully well in India.
Then I came to UK a few days ago and put my Vodafone UK sim in it; I sent the registeration request from the Host Routing Table menu (which was confirmed). I even registered my email on mobileemail.vodafone.net. Now the email is working fine and so is the BB Messenger. BUT I am unable to use the internet such as through the browser and the apps (facebook, bloomberg, time magazine, etc.). The top right corner says 3G (and sometimes GSM when I am on a call).I have spoken several times to the Vodafone tech staff and in the end they said that there was nothing they could do.
On the Vodafone tech staff's suggestions I have tried: deleting and reinstalling the service books (except provisioning), several battery pulls, I even tried putting back the old OS .320 (I currently have the leaked .428 version installed - in India my blackberry worked well on both versions).
Additional notes: I do not have the Vodafone Live! icon in my menu, My browser settings only show "hotspot browser" - there is no option as "internet browser" - I am guessing that will only appear when the bb internet starts working.I hope that is all the information you need.I will be very grateful if you can help me start the internet/gprs on my phone!

But gprs generally gets disconnected while I move up and down in my office using the lift. i.e. when the mobile network gets disconnected/connected, internet connection fails to work. It starts working fine again if I do a reboot of the BB, which generally takes minutes.

After a few weeks, I bought her a pay monthly SIM and got her original PAYG number transferred across to the Pay Monthly SIM. Since then, she hasn't been able to get BBM to work. All her friend requests are 'Pending Authorisation' and she cannot send or receive messages. The Internet is also not working, although she hadn't tried that until now, so I don't know whether it was working before. Text and voice calls are, and always have been, fine.
