so i got it unlocked, but for some reason, the data isnt working. so im assuming i need the service books for ATT? ok fine.. how do i do that. if thats not right then what do i need to do to get it working. i can make calls and texts, but i cant send MMS or anything. and it says im on edge network all the time.
View 10 RepliesI have an ATT 8520 Curve unlocked to work with a tmobile sim card and have a few questions...Now that's unlocked I cant setup an external email account (hotmail, gmail, etc...) that icon is missing from the setup section. how can I get that feature? can I also use the bbm feature? I added a friend (and vice-versa) but it just stays as pending. is it possible to bbm? for the above 2 do i need to get the bb data plan so they can work? I've read elsewhere that the best way to get the features would be to load the tmobile handheld software. I went to tmobiles site, I enter my ph# - select the 8520 - click on handheld and it takes me to their 'shop for phones' page. I guess they now by the number that i dont currently have a bb. So I tried a friends ph# from tmobile who has a bb and it still took me to the 'shop for phones' page. So I Am hoping it's just a link glitch going on right now. I did download from this forum the 5.0 OS "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel860_PL5.2.0.47_A5.0.0.509_W ind_Hellas.exe" which obviously is not tmobile. What would loading this different OS allow me to do? Or what features will I have available? and I have lowercase 'edge'.

The .601 takes so long to load and everytime I turn my phone off and back on %5 of the battery disappears... Either it's my battery or the phone. I read on one of the FAQs on the 8530 on the site that someone said they blocked tethering applications. I was just wondering how they can block a download or if that is even possible.
If anyone has a VM 8530 that is tethering, let me know! If i can't tether, then I dont know if im gonna spend the 300 on the phone.
I am an ATT subscriber but recently got an TMOBILE branded Curve 8520 unlocked. I can make and receive all calls and text messages but no MMS messages. I did notice that the "MMS Transport [WPTCP]" service book is not there and whenever I resend the service books nothing comes through.

My question is if I can convert the AT&T firmware to T-Mobile firmware. The problem I am now having is that when I press the trackpad to open a link online nothing happens. I have to open the menu and click on Open Link. The trackpad works correctly in all other places except opening a link online. Is there a trackpad setting that I may have turned off by mistake?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI brought my BlackBerry a few weeks back, and brought the Data Plan (£5 for BBM, Internet etc for 1 month)... IT was working PERFECTLY until yesterday Morning... I woke up, checked my BBM as usual, Ended all the chats that were Broadcast Messages blah blah blah, and went to speak to one of my Contacts on BBM... THe message wouldnt send... I thought it's probably just slow or something.... Yet im still having the same problems now... Nearly 2 days it hasnt worked now, and it's getting very annoying!

This is one message I usally get while trying to use the Browser:

Another thing that's really annoyed me is the fact that most people with a Similar problem to my has "gprs" in Lower Case letters, yet i have "GPRS" in Capitals, yet still not working.. I admit, on the rare occasion i can send a message but it takes ages, usually about 30 minutes. No matter where I go, whether it's my house, the woods, the town, anywhere, im getting the same problem, whereas before, I could go anywhere, including those 3 place and it would be FINE!!
I've done everything I could, Battery Removal, Wipe, SImple turned the Mobile Network off, then back on... NOTHING is helping!!

I have a Curve 8520 that's brand new. However, I notice when I zoom the camera and take a picture, the camera doesn't actually zoom in. All it does is resize the image so that it gets smaller the more it says the zoom number. For example, If I take a picture at 1x zoom, it will be 1024x768 pixels on my computer screen. However, if I zoom in 3x, it makes the picture much smaller (like 600x800) and more focused (and pixelated) on the center of the subject of the picture.
So that on the tiny Blackberry screen, the picture appears bigger when resized down a lot. When has digital zoom meant resizing the image to fool the user into thinking that it is zoomed only when viewing it on the blackberry screen? When I zoom in, it should keep the picture the same size! What a gip for a relatively high quality phone camera too.
After doing a few battery pulls its still not working.I've done some searching now for about an hour and comming up empty handed. I have a friend with an 8520 Curve from I-Wireless. After a couple days of using it his trackpad stopped. Now to me from reading it seem that most problems lie with the 8520 series and also seems that its a software issue as a batt pull will fix it for abit. Will updating to os 5.0 beta fix this problem or does the problem lie elsewhere?

Then I downloaded a game and a theme.. about 30 mins after the theme it started not to work.The only thing I can do is take a picture.The track ball wont move at all. Left or right. It will take a picture.Is there anything I can do? On my tour it connects and everything works fine. On my curve it constantly is looking for a connection and it wont follow me. But now there's a new problem: email. Neither of my email addresses work (@*.blackberry.net or my personal email) and anytime I try to send something, a red X immediately appears next to it.
is the 8520 housings are compatible with the 8530? I know the answer is probably yes because there's no differences at all in the phone not like the 83XX series. Also, mine is Grey OEM by Telus. I just don't know what colour i'll customize it, any Idea? I like black and white just like my old Tour, but there's white 8520 so it would be less unique

My husband got a curve 8530 the other day. All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?
