Need APN,User Name and Password but first I need to find the TCP setting on Virgin Mobile 8530. Anybody know how to find this?Think this might have to do with the streaming problems I'm having with Live 365 and Pandora. And also states this on their sites but I do not see this option via Advanced Options.

I was wondering if I'm able to update my virgin mobile to the sprint final OS instead of the .601.. The .601 takes so long to load and everytime I turn my phone off and back on %5 of the battery disappears... Either it's my battery or the phone. But I just want to know if I could load the sprint OS instead of Virgin mobile. I just got my phone and it came with .601 but me not liking it.

Although the $300 are a bit of a pain I'm willing to pay it for a cheaper price service. I would greatly appreciate comments from current 8530 and VM users.

I read on one of the FAQs on the 8530 on the site that someone said they blocked tethering applications. I was just wondering how they can block a download or if that is even possible.
If anyone has a VM 8530 that is tethering, let me know! If i can't tether, then I dont know if im gonna spend the 300 on the phone.

I cannot understand what the difference is. When I contact Virgin I can check the balance of my internet usage - this never changes. Unbeknown to me I was using blackberry usage which I could not check with my provider. I had the facebook application and the ubertwitter application on the phone. These are now removed.As I understand from Virgin using any applications on my phone will mean using the blackberry usage which will not be enough and therefore I will get charged. Blackberry is marketing these phones to my age group - early 20's and Virgin are advertising it with application use.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am hoping to get some help with a problem I am having with my Virgin Mobile LG Rumor 2.I have found a great website that will allow me to download programs directly to my phone that you cant get on Virgin Mobile's store (Go to http://www.getjar.com)Now, I have down loaded various programs for MSN and Facebook chatting, RSS Programs, however, it seems virgin mobile has restricted 3rd party access to the internet. The programs install fine, they run but as soon as they ask for access to the internet....the program comes to an abrupt halt.
I have heard that giving access through Bitpim is possible, however, bitpim does not fully support the Rumor 2 (see it as CDMA Other). Is there anyway to let 3rd party programs access to the internet on the LG Rumor 2? Is there any "secret access" to the phone that would allow me to change some type od settings?I like the Rumor 2 but am pulling my hair out trying to figure a way to let the programs access the net.
I'm new on this forum and my T-Mobile G1 recently died, so my friend gave me his AT&T 8520. He gave it to me unlocked so my T-Mobile SIM works. My question is if I can convert the AT&T firmware to T-Mobile firmware. I want to add the BIS service to it, so is it just a matter of adjusting service books, or am I gonna have to do something else?

I have been reading that the security wipe won't get rid of everything. When I go into security wipe, it says if I wipe "Emails, Contacts, etc." you will not be able to send or receive email on the device after you wipe it.
Does that mean on this phone ever again, or just from the email addresses I am wiping?
I recently bought my first Blackberry smartphone, The Blackberry Curve 8520. I was really impressed with the phone at such a cheap price since I am a teen, the 8520 is perfect for me. But I downloaded a few apps which I can use at home when theres wifi but i cannot use the Twitter, Facebook, UberTwitter apps when not at home (No wifi). Does anyone have the same problems? When i try to log in or connect without Wifi, It does not connect. And on Ubertwitter, The app keeps running but it doesnt connect to gprs/wap. Anyone have the same problems or know how to change the settings so that i can use the apps with GPRS/WAP Please give me your suggestions and/or solutions/help.
View 10 Replies View RelatedWell i noticed when i got a call from my gf the picture came up using her fb profile pic which was always so blurred! So I remember changing it to another picture and selecting it to show up as the caller id picture and to overwrite anything that would change it.
However now , it also changes her bbm picture and it would not change even if she changes it herself now her bbm picture is stuck as well.I forgot where i went to change this overwrite picture setting...
is it worth upgrading from a boost 8330 to the 8350 on virgin mobile and does 60 include unlimited blackberry messenger like with my 8330?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI took out a contract with Virgin Mobile yesterday for a Blackberry Curve 8520. I chose Virgin as I have had a pay as you go mobile with them for years and wanted to keep my number with a minimum of fuss.
Have to say it has been one of the worst 'out of the box experiences' I've had with any technology recently.
Whilst Virgin's systems say the phone is registered, the Blackberry site say it is not and having held on to Virgin's customer support line for ten minutes or so listening to the Scissor Sisters (aaarghhh!!) I was told that I would need to speak to a Blackberry specialist who would call back with 72 HOURS!?
I've Googled this problem and it shows up on a number of non-Blackberry / Virgin forums. If anyone can put me in touch with someone who can get me up and running I would be grateful. Putting a phone out of action for 72 hours (not sure how the weekend will affect this) is not on.

As only 60 entries are reported in my account I can only go back 2 days to review genuine calls that I have made because virtually all of the 60 entries are 'blackberry usage'.I must admit I am not familiar with the phone. I did look at Applications (with Options) in case these were the reason but there are none listed.
is the 8520 housings are compatible with the 8530? I know the answer is probably yes because there's no differences at all in the phone not like the 83XX series. Also, mine is Grey OEM by Telus. I just don't know what colour i'll customize it, any Idea? I like black and white just like my old Tour, but there's white 8520 so it would be less unique

They use to but now when I go to like you tube, or nothingtoxic.com, or even my video recordings it won't play it says an error has occurred media attempt failed. I use to restart my BB and that would help for a lil while now it doesn't work at all. How do I fix this?

All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI updated my phone the other day with the v5.0.0.734 OS. It wiped out everything. I had to go back and restore my contacts, reload ringtones and apps, etc. Got everything back the way it was now.
I have three email accounts synced to it. All are active, Wi-fi on, network on. New mail isn't showing up on my handset, only from my gmail account, the hotmails aren't showing up. Used to be you could look in the folder for each email account and see what emails were there, then there was one folder that showed all of them. What am I missing?

I'm gettin sick n tired of this trackball on the 8330, I recently had to fix it cause it would only go up... so onto a new Blackberry! Can anyone give me some input about the 8530? I hear the camera has no flash , is that true? How is that supposed to be an upgrade!? Anything else I should know that's different between the two, aside from the obvious?

But when i check my email for yahoo on my laptop, it still shows up on my BB and doesnt delete unless I personally delete it. Is there an option that when i check my email from my laptop that it will delete on my BB??

The only apps that I have opened that possibly check the internet are facebook & my weather network app. I have the weather app set to check every hour. So how could it drop so fast? I also have wifi turned on but does that kill it that quickly?

I haven't noticed a pattern as to when it does this, and it doesn't seem to be a regular interval. I'll have it sitting next to me on the table, and suddenly it lights up, shuts down, and starts back up, and carries on as if nothing happened.
