BB Software :: How To Upgrade An UNLOCKED BB 8520

I bought 8520 form Amazon, and it's an UNLOCKED international one, the OS is 4.6,i'd like to update to OS5, i download OS5 application from web site, the steps i did are;
1. install that application on my PC;
2.remove vendor.xml file
3.run appLoader
but in the step 3, i can't get item list, it shows up "The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator."

I have an ATT 8520 Curve unlocked to work with a tmobile sim card and have a few questions...Now that's unlocked I cant setup an external email account (hotmail, gmail, etc...) that icon is missing from the setup section. how can I get that feature? can I also use the bbm feature? I added a friend (and vice-versa) but it just stays as pending. is it possible to bbm? for the above 2 do i need to get the bb data plan so they can work? I've read elsewhere that the best way to get the features would be to load the tmobile handheld software. I went to tmobiles site, I enter my ph# - select the 8520 - click on handheld and it takes me to their 'shop for phones' page. I guess they now by the number that i dont currently have a bb. So I tried a friends ph# from tmobile who has a bb and it still took me to the 'shop for phones' page. So I Am hoping it's just a link glitch going on right now. I did download from this forum the 5.0 OS "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel860_PL5.2.0.47_A5.0.0.509_W ind_Hellas.exe" which obviously is not tmobile. What would loading this different OS allow me to do? Or what features will I have available? and I have lowercase 'edge'.

What I know is that the phone can upgrade into ICS using PC Companion, but what I would like to know is whether it's possible to upgrade my phone using the PC companion even if I have its bootloader unlocked. Since if I accept OTA upgrade, it might result to bricking it.

I have an unlocked TMobile 8520 phone that im using on at&t. I cannot surf the internet. I changed the APN to at&t settings but still no internet. When i put my sim in an at&t 8310 everything works fine so im assuming its missing some at&t settings for media net. Where do i start?

After 8 months it finally went I'm on Vodafone via a contract and I got this Nokia 5800 as an upgrade I love it great piece of kit Music Player is great. On thursday morning thou it went all pear shaped, as I was in a shop I could feel the phone pulsing via the vibration I recieved no call or text it was doing small pulses from the vibration feature.
I whiped it out and unlocked it but the screen stayed blank for about 1min then it finally came on and went back into key lock by its self???. I unlocked it again and the screen came on/off then finally on it had been doing it a few times in the past but not this bad.
I went to send a text and when I touched the screen to bring up the alpha keys it would not type anything it would show that I was hitting the keys but nothing was writing. I had to reboot the phone and it worked for 10mins, I took it into Vodafone and got it sent off to Nokia for repair I hope they repair it much better than what Sony Ericcson do last 2 phones from them have all failed to be fixed of there problems last 2yrs I had there mobiles. I went back to Nokia after 8yrs away because everyone now has a S.E, Samsung or iPhone.

I am an ATT subscriber but recently got an TMOBILE branded Curve 8520 unlocked. I can make and receive all calls and text messages but no MMS messages. I did notice that the "MMS Transport [WPTCP]" service book is not there and whenever I resend the service books nothing comes through.

so i got it unlocked, but for some reason, the data isnt working. so im assuming i need the service books for ATT? ok fine.. how do i do that. if thats not right then what do i need to do to get it working. i can make calls and texts, but i cant send MMS or anything. and it says im on edge network all the time.

I have downloaded the new SW for BB 8520 (version 5.0.0.681)8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel1168_PL5.2.0.67_A5.0.0.681_Trigcom I connect the BB and the BB Desktop Manager find the SW and I try to upgrade.I get failure statement saying that I need to have a service subscription. How ever only residents from USA or Canada can do that at www.blackberry.com/service I read this failure may occur if the divice have not teh wireless transciver turned on. My wireless transciver is turned on. getting this new upgrade to 5.0.0 that support the mulitilanguage that I need.

For the last 2 weeks I have been experiencing problems that I can reply to an email, the send button is then available, but when I compose an email there is no send button. When I open a new page in my internet browser, it doesn't display it properly. After numerous phone calls to my service provider and getting new service books the problem is still not resolved. They now suggested that I upgrade my software.

I received an email with link to upgrade Blackberry App World and went to the App World site to download the new upgrade. I then received conflicting messages saying 1) that the download failed (error 907 wrong COD) and followed by 2) Download successful, hold down the esc key to return to home screen. Now the App World icon has completely disappeared and my previous version of App World has also gone.

After completing Version 5 upgrade, I don't have an icon on my home screen to send or receive e-mail.
I went into setup and my email account was already there. I ended up deleting it and adding it again. When I did this, I got a messge that a "new icon for this mailbox has been added to the home screen." Went to look and it's still not there. Took out the battery and rebooted. Still not there.
Finally discovered that I could get to my email but accessing SMS/MMS (texting) icon. I sent an e-mail to someone and all my received e-mail that I haven't been able to access was there. This is very cumbersome way of getting to my email and obviously not the way it's suppose to work.
How do I get my email icon added to my home screen?

I was doing a reboot on my blackberry, as it was booting, at about 70% it just stops. I tried to connect it to the BB desktop manager so that I can try to update the device software, but it only connects to my pc when the battery is removed, when I put the battery back in, it disconnects then switches itself on, loads up till about 70%, then stops. I even tried leaving it the entire night with hope that it will get through that stage, but it still wont budge. I tried downgrading the OS to v4.6.1 but the phone doesn't switch on at all. So I upgraded back to v5.0.0 and it still gives me the same problem.

My 8520 has some serious problems right now. I tried to do a software upgrade but it failed at JVM connection. Now my device wont connect to my pc at all (doesn't pick up the device whatsoever), and the phone wont boot up, The only activity I get out of it is the LED flashing red once and then four times quickly.
