I just got my new Curve 8520 from O2 (UK) and the software version is 4.6.1.314.. this seems to be really old?
Should I try an OTA update or should I force one using the links I can probably find on here?
I'm having a few issues with gmail not notifying me and a few other things, and I figure they have upgraded software for a reason!

Jun 28, 2012I have a software version 5.0 bundle on my celfone then I install GPSLogger, after installing it the GPSLogger wont work on this version 5.0 it to run only on Version 4.6.1 only, then I downgrade my software version to 4.6.1 but I dont like the version 4.6.1 then I upgrade it agisn to Version 5.0, but I cant upgrade it, always keep mee asking that this software is for users with an active Black Berry Subscription, To learn more about BlackBerry service, [url].... Aug 3, 2010Ever since I downloaded something like "Blackberry OS version 5" from the web, and updated my device using the desktop manager, I have been unable to download new apps.Somehow I managed to get BBM back on -- the phone would have been useless otherwise -- but no more apps will get downloaded.Everything seems to work, whether I download via the web, or use desktop manager to install the apps, there are no errors and it says it worked -- but there is no icon for the app in any of the folders.For example, BB App world: The desktop manager says it is installed, but it's not accessible because there is no icon anywhere.My carrier say they can't help me any further as it's a device issue.I have got "show all" on, so the icons are definitely not hidden.I have tried a battery pull dozens of times.I have tried a backup using desktop manager, then factory reset the device, then restored -- several times.I have tried uninstalling the apps through desktop manager and installing them again.I don't understand what settings are supposed to be changed after I do a factory reset and restore from backup.

Aug 14, 2010With no internet or app usage my phone was to 30 percent after only a hour maybe a hour and half of usage. Not even close to the 4.5 hours of usage said. Complained to Verizon and getting the Tour 9630. Not too happy because i will be leaving the trackpad and i hear battery life on the tour is so so. I wanted the new bold but they wouldnt let me. But they said if my new phone gives me problems, then might get the bold. Either way i want a good phone with decent battery.

May 13, 2011After completing Version 5 upgrade, I don't have an icon on my home screen to send or receive e-mail.
I went into setup and my email account was already there. I ended up deleting it and adding it again. When I did this, I got a messge that a "new icon for this mailbox has been added to the home screen." Went to look and it's still not there. Took out the battery and rebooted. Still not there.
Finally discovered that I could get to my email but accessing SMS/MMS (texting) icon. I sent an e-mail to someone and all my received e-mail that I haven't been able to access was there. This is very cumbersome way of getting to my email and obviously not the way it's suppose to work.
How do I get my email icon added to my home screen?

Jul 27, 2012I was doing a reboot on my blackberry, as it was booting, at about 70% it just stops. I tried to connect it to the BB desktop manager so that I can try to update the device software, but it only connects to my pc when the battery is removed, when I put the battery back in, it disconnects then switches itself on, loads up till about 70%, then stops. I even tried leaving it the entire night with hope that it will get through that stage, but it still wont budge. I tried downgrading the OS to v4.6.1 but the phone doesn't switch on at all. So I upgraded back to v5.0.0 and it still gives me the same problem.
