BB Curve 83xx :: Unable To Format My 8GB SandisK Memory Card
Feb 10, 2010I've gone ahead and bought a 8GB Sandisk card because I don't want to be limited on the amount of music I can put on my player at any given time.For the most part the thing works(ed) like it was suppose to. Dragged over all my Media files from my 1gb and things have been cool ever since.Now while I take good care of my BB Curve 8320, it takes the odd fall here and there. Never enough to damage or mar the screen and these falls have happened WITH the new 8GB card inside.....up until today, when it took a bunny hop of a fall...and now the card is "Unreadable and needs formatting"
WTF? I'm all ready to format it, but whenever I try doing so using the Blackberry...it freezes. Whenever I try doing it on my computer...I get no response. I heard someone said to put it in the big SD adapter thing and try using it on a comp and formatting it there...I'll have to search for a comp with an SD drive to get that done in a bit...but incase that doesn't work...Do I have any other options?
This is absolute crap..when I opened the BB to see if the chip was dislodged, it wasn't...the BB won't read it now...it reads the other 1gb quite fine but not this one....and living in a third world country It's not like as is I can bomb over there and get another card for a decent price as opposed to purchasing a severly marked up one here. Has anyone ever had this sort of problem with any of the bigger model phones? I'm starting to think that this Curve thing is too 'delicate' for my liking.

May 22, 2010I just got this phone from my wife. She never had a memory card so I need to buy one. I was looking at the SDSDQ-4096 MicroSDHC Memory Card My question is, BestBuys Compatibility Program/Chart doesn't show this card compatible with the 8330. But I'm sure you guys can answer this one! Thanks much! Also please tell me the "type or size" of the card I have look for if I go to the store, I know a lot of them are different sizes, and I want to get the right one the first time. Also how much should I expect to pay for this.

Aug 6, 2010What's the better way of moving several GB worth of data from a smaller to a larger microSDHC card?
1. Can I simply copy the data on the old/smaller card to my PC (using USB mode) and then install the new/larger memory card in my phone and copy it back? This, to me, seems to be the swiftest route to take.
2. Or, is it better to backup the old/small card using PC Suite and then restore to the new/large card? If so, why? Based on prior experience with this method I'm not sure all data is moved...
3. Or, it doesn't matter? Thanks.
BB Curve 83xx :: Formatting 2 GB Sandisk Media Card Freezes
Feb 10, 2010I have seen similar threads but am not sure if this issue has been resolved beyond "sounds like its just a bad card...
I got a new 2 GB Sandisk media card and once I installed it and turn on the phone, I get a warning message telling me there is a media card that needs to be formatted. I go to Options>>Media Card>>pull up the menu>>click on Format card. The phone freezes. I have let it sit for 30-45 min. I end up having to pull the battery. I have tried several times. I have deleted most 3rd party apps in case they were the culprit (they were not).
I've tried removing the card and blowing dust out of the area, pulling the SIM card out as well, but, frankly, I assumed those wouldn't work because the phone is recognizing that the card is install, it just freezes when trying to format. Interestingly, the phone is still "on" in some degree; I don't receive phone calls or texts, but my bluetooth is still connected as the blue light is flashing, but I cannot make outgoing calls with it.
One thing that may make my situation unique is that I received this card from a friend who pulled it from their new Blackberry Bold (9700). He did not know if it was formatted at the time as he immediately placed a 4 GB Sandisk into his and gave me the 2 GB. Could formatting on a newer model prevent retro-using in an older model? Can this issue be resolved?
I went to AT&T today to see if they could take a look. They couldn't tell me much but did let me try to insert a different disk - a 4 GB Sandisk. There was NO prompt when I turned the phone back on, and I checked Options>>Media Card and it told me that the card was already installed and I had X.X GB of free space.
I have scoured the internet and AT&T and refuse to believe that this is just a bad card. This has seemed to occur enough that if they are all bad cards, Sandisk is cranking out a ton of corrupt products here.

Jun 7, 2011I replaced my cliq with the cliq 2 today. When I moved my 2gb sandisk sd card into my new phone, the phone was unable to recongnize that it contained the card. It worked perfectly fine on my old phone, so I put it back in my old phone, transferred the files from the card onto my computer to save them, and then formatted the card. I put the card back into my new phone and it still doesn't recognize it.

The questions are:
1) is it compatible
2) would I get any performance gain compared to Transcend TS16GUSDHC6-P3?
As far as I'm concerned, SDHC cards with speed classes 2 to 6 are SD version 2.0, whereas class 10 cards as well as new SDXC ones are SD version 3.0, hence potential compatibility issues.
BB Curve :: 9360 Device Memory Full?
Oct 20, 2011I am using Curve 9360 which I bought recently. Love this handset for its sleekiest design, I rate this best among all BB phones.Recently I hit into an issue where my phone's device memory (reportedly 32 MB) is full. I thought this phone has inbuilt memory of 512 MB.When I go Media, check for Memory use using BB pin, it shows me Media Card and Built-in Memory Storage.
I am surprised to see Built-in Memory storage of only 32 MB and that is also 100%, of which 24MB was occupied by Pictures.
I haven't stored any of the downloaded or camera pictures on device memory. These 24MB is essentially from this folder "/Device/home/user/appworld/img/screenshots/". Under this folder there are many folders with 4~5 digits numbered and has many small pictures, essentially screenshots from app world.First, can I delete these folders in order free up device memory?Second, can I re-route these to memory card such these screenshots are not saved on device memory atleast?Third, how do I check 512 MB inbuilt memory usage stats for curve 9360?
BB Curve :: 9360 SIM & SD Card NOT Reading
Nov 23, 2012I got a blackberry 9360 for my birthday in July, the phone worked fine for basically a week so I got it repaired in a shop costing me £60 it worked for a while and now the same problem is occurring. When I have both the sim card and the memory card inserted neither of them are reading, it's saying "Insert SIM Card" & "Media Card is not currently inserted in the device" which is extremely annoying.Everything else works fine the camera, wi-fi, but i can't use my network whatsoever nor record videos etc because it's claming to have no media card inserted whatsoever!

Jan 2, 2010I've got a few questions about my AT&T Curve 8310...I was looking through "Options > Applications" and saw that the app that took the most memory was "Content Store." Anyone know what this is, if I can delete it, & what would happen if I did? Is there any way to shrink this down some?
My address book takes up quite a bit of memory; so does my calendar -- both of which were synced from Outlook. Is there any way to have the addresses/calendar data stored onto my microSD instead of the device memory?
Lastly, I noticed that when I call people using my Curve, it shows up on their caller ID as "private name, private number." Where can I change this setting? Is it in my provider's settings (which I can access online) or on the BlackBerry's settings somewhere? Also, is it possible to at least NOT have it show private when calling those on my address book, such as friends & relatives?

Jul 18, 2012I am a BB 9360 user. I haven't upgraded my software since I bought my phone a few months ago.My problem is I cannot view files in my media card in my phone. The media crad is being recognized by the phone but I cannot see the photos/videos/music etc. I thought my media card was corrupted or something but when I connected my phone in my laptop through usb I was able to access my files.

May 26, 2010I just recently bought a 16gb Micro SD memory card online, but it doesn't work. I put it into my phone and it says to format and I format and everything. After formatting is complete, I connect my phone to my computer so I can sync it with my itunes. The problem occurs as soon as it gets done syncing. After it's done syncing and I disconnect my from computer, the "format memory card" message comes up again. If I say no, none of the music comes to my phone. Then I go to option > memory and then it says memory card is not readable. It has to be formatted because it might be corrupted.If I select yes to format it, all the data that I just synced erases and I'm back to the beginning. This happens every single time I do it.
However, one thing I notice was when I stop the syncing halfway through, the memory card works. But if I let it sync all 600 songs (which is about 5-6 gb out of 16), the memory card fails.can anyone help me? Maybe someone had a problem like this and found a solution. Appreciate all the help I receive. BTW, I'm using the Bold 9700 for tmobile.
