View 3 RepliesRecently I updated my BBM app, and my phone got stuck in a reboot cycle, I was able to solve that problem when I installed the Desktop Manager, and all was well. However, about a week after I fixed my phone, my regular text messaging started acting up. It first started where I would have one person's entire conversation copied in my main messages. Now it's just getting worse. For instance, I texted my mom, and on my main messaging screen under today, there's are about 15 copies of the same conversation. It does this with EVERY SINGLE CONVERSATION I HAVE. Then, it starts to not even show up in my main messaging, and the only way I can receive my texts are if I go through the notifications button. It's not that my texting doesn't work, it's just that all of this is EXTREMELY annoying, and difficult to deal with.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am an IT technician, and we use BES at my company. I have been handed a phone by one of my fellow employees exhibiting the dreaded reboot cycle problem. Yes, I know there are lots of other threads on this, but some are dead ends and some just rehash the same old thing. I'm not certain, but I think this may be different and deserve its own thread. I am working with a BlackBerry Curve 8310 stuck in the known reboot loop. Black screen for 5 seconds, white screen with hourglass for 5 seconds, black screen for 5 seconds, rinse/lather/repeat.
I have tried:
01) Using BBSAK to wipe the device (without Desktop Manager open or running).
02) Using JL_Cmder to wipe the device (without Desktop Manager open or running).
03) Installing the BlackBerry Java Developer Kit and running the wipe variable command on JavaLoader.exe (without Desktop Manager open or running).
04) Deleting vendor.xml and running loader.exe with and without the /nojvm variable from /Program Files/Common Files/etc (without Desktop Manager open or running).
05) Using BlackBerry Desktop Manager to load the newest OS (hey, why not).
06) Tried every combination possible of booting the phone without the battery and inserting it at just the right time, over and over and over again, while all of the processes above attempt to run (BBSAK, JL_Cmder, Loader.exe, etc).
07) Doing all of the above on a Windows XP Professional PC instead of my Windows 7 Ultimate x86 PC.
08) Doing all of the above on a different BlackBerry Curve 8310 without a reboot problem (it works every time; wipe the OS, install the newest one, no issues at all, I'm very familiar with the process).
09) Trying all of the above using a completely different battery.
10) Trying all of the above with the SIM card removed (there is no media card, so no issues there).
As far as all of the documented steps to resolve this known issue, I've tried them all in every which way using every combination I could possibly imagine or invent on the fly, and I've made absolutely, positively no progress whatsoever. The BlackBerry Curve 8310 continues its auto-reboot-5-seconds-into-loading process, and it prevents any of the utilities above to communicate with the phone long enough to establish a handshake before it reboots again. It doesn't seem to matter when I insert the battery at all. The farthest I get is using the loader.exe method (step 04 above). Once it gets to the device initialization step, however, and I insert the battery back in, the reboots simply continue. I am at a loss, and I've done everything that I know to do or that I've learned to do via research on multiple messageboards. Aside from sending teh phone out for repair, what steps are there to take that I have not yet taken to fix this myself? Note that there is no report of the phone being dropped, jarred, or physically mishandled in any way. Nonetheless, could it be that this is not software-related, but hardware-related? What am I missing?
A friend and I have the blackberry 9360, and we've both found it randomly decides it wants to switch itself off and reboot about 3 times a day. Her phone was a day old when it started to do this, mine is about 4 months old. We've experienced this problem on OS 7.0 and 7.1.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy blackberry curve 9360 got stuck while trying to upgrade the "evernote" app. I waited for 10 mins but then pulled out the battery to do a hard reset. Now the phone keeps rebooting in a continuous loop.It shows the loading screen and when the bar is complete, the red LED turns on and the screen just stays blank. If i press any kep the loading bar appears again as empty and goes onto complete and then again the red LED turns on.I can't connect to PC through the Desktop software and it shows an error with Retry, Update and Close options. Tried "Retry" many times and update says no new updates for your phone but can't still connect.I can't find the Apploader folder mentioned in some posts from where you can get the device to connect in my "Research In Motion" folder in Program files. Maybe because I'm on OS 7 or the desktop software is another version. Please help me on how to get my device back on. I am ready to lose the data if there is some way to do a hardware reset or OS reinstall which doesnt require the phone to boot.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had a Blackberry Curve 9360 for about seven months now and everything was fine for about three months, then all of a sudden it started to switch off everytime I took a photo or used the internet/facebook. I took the phone for repair and it was replaced, as soon as I turned it on and charged it it started to happen again, again I took it for repair and it was replaced again, this is the third replacement I have had in two months and all of them are doing the same thing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI put my phone down for like a minute, when I came back it was rebooting. I thought my phone was just messing about so I left it to start but when it got to the end of the reboot the little timer thing came up on the top left corner and then it all went black and it rebooted all over again and the same thing happened.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my BB Curve 9360 for 7 months and for the last month the phone has been experiencing problems with rebooting itself.
The phone reboots itself approximately 5 or 6 times a day which is quite annoying as you have to deal with the irate persons who are continuously met by your voicemail as your phone is off or awaiting secrity info (PIN) without your knowledge.
My 9360 keeps on rebooting. I did the battery pull, press back button till reboot is done but it doesnt work. I also connected it to my pc to "update" as a previous person was advised but the 9360 is still rebooting.Perhaps the 9360 was'nt a good choice?

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy blackberry 9360 is giving me some problems, when I turn it on, it comes on with the blackberry loading screen, and it loads a 1/4 of the way then it turns off and a red light shows and it starts again. I've left it doing this on charge and it won't stop, I've let it run its self out of battery and it still does this when I try again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded some apps on my BB 9360 of just a few days after which I tried restarting the BB over an hour ago. But it just keeps rebooting over and over again without the phone coming up. I charged IT for over an hour thinking probably the battery was low, but to no avail. What to do as the BB just keeps rebooting.

View 4 Replies View Relatedabout a week ago my bb was dropped into a cup of tea (which had sugar and milk in) and i quickly took out the battery and stuck it in a bowl of uncooked rice for a few days. It was working about 2 days ago, except the keyboard was sticky so I turned it off and got some isopropyl alcohol cleaner and followed some instructions on how to open it all up and clean it which i did. Before i cleaned it i turned it on and the loading screen came up, only it gets to about 5 or 10 percent then restarts itself which it then proceeds to do over and over. I have looked into this problem and it seems i need to reinstall the os?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHave tried holding various keys in an attempt to access a BIOS screen or some such thing to no avail (why aren't cell phones more like computers?). As for how my phone got to this state...
-I wanted to add custom ring tones to my recently purchased Samsung Intensity but found that texting them to myself via vzwpix.com led to a significant decrease in quality and the costs would quickly add up as I attempted to fix the issue by editing the sound files in Audacity and texting newer versions to my phone
-To get around using vzwpix.com, I found a method of putting the files directly on the phone by installing the phones drivers to my computer using Samsung PC Studio 3 and moving them directly to the phone using Qualcomm Product Support Tools. The method is copy+pasted below for reference
-After a while I got the ring tone to how I wanted it and went to delete the experimentation files on the phone. I had done this in the past through the phone's interface without issue (though an attempted file rename had caused a quick freeze which was solved by removing and replacing the battery), but this time it froze when attempting to delete the final file
-The phone would not respond to any keypad presses including the power button, so I chose to restart the phone by removing and putting back in the battery
-The phone will no longer pass the "Verizon Wireless" screen and reboots after hanging on that screen for ~7 seconds
Pasted below is the complete method I used to transfer the files for reference. Other smarter methods may exist, but given the issue I had with vzwpix.com, my lack of a mircoSD card, and my desire to avoid media messaging charges I elected to go with this method. Credit goes to ch from the Mobiledia forums for figuring this out and typing this up. It works beautifully aside from the issue I have had. I suggest that anyone who chooses to use it remove sound files from the phone only through QPST and not through the phone's interface.
Software required:
1.Samsung PC Studio
2. QPST (Or other software to allow you to browse the phone's file system)
1. Install Samsung PC Studio (Will only be used to install drivers for the intensity)
2. Change USB Port Map to "Modem" on your phone
a. Go to Settings & Tools > Phone Info > and then press the # button.
b. Enter 000000 for the lock code.
c. Select option 2 "Port Map"
d. Select option 4 "USB"
e. Select option 4 "Modem"
3. Plug phone into usb port.
4. Go to device manager and install drivers for the unidentified devices
a. The drivers will be located in C:Program Files SamsungSamsung PC Studio 3
5. Start QPST EFS Explorer
6. Browse to brewmodmr on the phone
7. Delete MrInfo.db
8. Drag and drop your mp3 ringtone files into this directory
9. Restart the phone.
10. A new MrInfo.db file will be created. Copy it to your desktop.
11. Edit the file with notepad. You should see an entry for each sound file in the directory, followed by |0|0 or something like that. For the first file change the second 0 to a 2. For the next file change that same zero to a 3, and so on. I guess the second zero just needs to be a 2, 3, or 4.
12. Copy MrInfo.db back to the phone in same directory.
13. Reboot the phone and your mp3 will show up under the "My Ringtones" menu.
Greetings, my phone recently froze on me, and I couldn't even reboot by holding down the power button. Instead I opted to reboot via the Power Button + Volume Down method. This forced it to shut down, but upon rebooting, the phone is now in a loop. It shows the Droid at launch, then makes it to the red eye, but after sitting on the red eye a moment, it freezes, then restarts the cycle again.
Things I have tried:
Forcing another reboot via Power + Volume Down Going into the Boot Mode Selection to use Normal Power Up Going to BMS and trying Recovery (Wiped data/factory reset) Attempted to enter Safe Mode (Didn't seem to work, cycled again at eye) Fastboot Lastly, tried launching to Tools in BMS. Same as above.
At this point I am at a loss as to what to do. I would like to not have to send this out, and to fix it here, but is it comes to that, I guess I'll take it to Verizon and see about getting it shipped out, and getting a replacement.
Oh, also this is a stock phone, the only "modifications" I had was Go Launcher and Go Lockscreen. I was, when this happened, going to check my Google Reader app, and that is when it froze on me. (Never had it happen before this)
It went blank after the "Rethink Possible" screen and the indicator light started flashing red. It did that for a bunch of minutes and then it rebooted again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI connected my blackberry curve 9360 to my computer via blackberry desktop software for the first time today and it asked if I wanted to update my device.
I clicked yes, then it started the first stage of updating and it has frozen backing up 'Database: Options (3 of 21 items)'
Is there a way to unfreeze it or would it be safe to eject my phone and try again?
I looked at my phone there was an icon saying software update clicked on it done it all then it came up this may take a few hours so I left my phone it's now been 4 hours backing up data and is stuck on 7% for the last 2 hours what do I do? I tried asking the battery out it just goes back to the same thing and same percentage?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy phone is on this weird state now that it freezes and nothing happens, not even the little watch comes out and so I have to reboot it. But when I do, I have to use it non stop doing whatever for about 3 hours or so, not being able to leave it alone because if I do, even for a minute it will freeze all over again and the process will start over. But also, sometimes when I reboot it, it doesn't being to reboot. It just stays with the screen shut off and eventually the little red light would turn on and off but nothing else will happen. I left it in that state for about 10 hours and nothing.Right now it has been frozen for almost an hour, Ive had to reboot it about 25times today and I´m beginning to give up and getting scared for my phone.
