BB Curve 8900 :: What Determines Picture Size In Kb On Software 5.0.0.681?
Jul 8, 2010
As per my other thread: What happened to my 8900 camera quality? upgraded from OS 4.6 to 5.0.0.681 i've discovered what the problem is with why I am not getting the same quality photos as on the OS 4.6 on my 8900 curve, it's the picture size in kb. on 4.6 i would at the very least always get photos of size 460kb minimum (usually i get 700kb +) whereas on 5.0.0.681 now i get on average only 180kb WHY? bear in mind i've kept all the settings on the highest possible i.e. superfine and picture on 'large' yet for some reason i'm only getting low quality pics.. it's very frustrating.I have a feeling the lighting makes a difference but also maybe the memory/space on the media card. BUT I have 120mb of memory left and 400mb of space on my media card. What makes the blackberry take pictures at lower quality in terms of size in kb and larger?so far i've managed to get 1 photo at 460kb on OS 5.0.0.681 but i dont know how or why exactly but at least i know it's capable of getting pics that large. Do I need over 500mb of media card space for it to take larger size pics?
Is there any way to safely reduce the size of Content Store?. Currently mine is showing 35/749.9k. And its getting bigger everyday. I only have two 3rd applications installed on my 8900. One is BOLT and the second one Keyboard Locker.
I am trying to create a picture of multiple images so when I switch to one of the other home pages I have a new image as the background picture. Does anybody now what size the individual images have to be? inches..pixels?
Every time I take a picture with my Blackberry, it says, "file not found" and won't save to my phone. I've tried going into properties and running an error check when plugged into my computer, pulled the battery, and nothing works. Anyone know how to fix this?
Can anyone suggest anything to help me please - since a few days ago I cannot send or receive any picture messages. I havent changed any of the settings or downloaded any apps so Im struggling to understand what it could be...?
I took picture with Large resolution and Superfine quality. Strangely, after some viewing (+zooming in/out) of the pictures taken, I found the pictures' resolution had changed to Small! I tested this by taking another picture, viewing it, making sure the resolution is large, then closing the Media Apps, and reopening and viewing the picture again. It happened again after the second viewing if I did some zooming in/out.I am very upset that some pictures are now have small resolutions and I can't trust viewing through Media Apps again before copying the files first to my computer. Is this a bug or is there something I did wrong while viewing pictures?
I can't believe that I can't find such a setting. Did they hide it? I fear it does not exist.
I've never really felt a need for so much resolution for casual pictures. I can't always easily resize to send in email and I have no need or desire to take up so much storage.
I set a photo as my background on my X6, but the image re-sizes itself so its bigger in the home screen and not all of the image appears on the screen, alot is cut off.
I cant quite figure out how to adjust the image so that it stays the same size when its used as my back ground, or how to re-adjust the image back! Its annoying because it means my pictures are limited as to what can be on my background, im having to chose really far away shots becaus they appear close up when used as a background!
Im using a xperia ray. i did connect my favorit contacts with theyr facebookprofile and insert theyr facebook profile picture as contactpicture. Now i have the problem that the pictures are very very small. im asking me so long if that is normal or not. and if not, im interessted to know how i can change that.If i use a picture that is local on my device than i get a big contact-picture.
when recieving a incoming call the full size contact pic assigned to the contact displays how can i cahnge it to thubnail size while displaying the wallpaper at the same time?
I have a Nokia N85 and i'm having trouble sending and receiving pictures full size. If i do receive pictures or send them to other phones they are signifcantly reduced in size and appear as a small square on screen. I have attached a pic of my phone screen with a picture displayed that was sent to me after from my girlfriends N85.
I have been through the settings to the best of my knowledge and set the image size to large but this seems to have no effect. To do this i went to MESSAGING>OPTIONS>SETTINGS>MULTIMEDIA MESSAGE>IMAGE SIZE (set this to large)
I tried asking this in the "N Series" section but got ver very little help. I figured those posting in this section are more interested in the picture side of mobile phones. So therefore are more knowledgable and be better at helping.

Recently i was going through all of my photos - older ones and the new ones. I did notice, that older pictures are bigger in size than those i snapped recently. I'm talking about oversampled ones (5 MP). They used to be ~1.6-2.3 mb size, now they are 600-800 kb. Am i doing something wrong? I'm copying my photos directly from the phone, so there is no compression going on.
I had an 8310 and just bought an 8900 brand new off of eBay. I used the 8310's speakerphone A LOT for listening to music and loved it! I always took the back of the phone off too so that it wasn't coming through 2 little holes through the top. Is the sound quality and volume of the 8900 equal to or greater than the 8300 with its batter door off?
Just got myself a BB 8900, however it dosent seem to have any device memory, i have looked under memory in the options menu and it doesnt say anything about device memory and when i connect it to my PC i cannot find the phone on my computer unless i have a memory card pluged in,
I was a lifetime VZW customer and switched to AT&T in January for the 9700. When I looked at a 9800 two days ago, they told me that they would give me an early upgrade if I wanted one. ( Contract price + $75 ) What exactly determines if you get an early upgrade and how often?
I plug in my phone every night and it is connected to WiFi. Sometimes it backs up in the middle of the night but more often it seems to back up in the morning when I "wake" it up while leaving it plugged in. When I get up in the am I, leaving it plugged in, check for messages, news etc.Later in the day when I check when the last time it did an iCloud backup - it seems to be after I did that early morning check but before I unplug it for the day - usually 10 minutes in between. It also seems to not want to do a backup in less than 24 hours - which I can understand. So - on Sundays it may back up at 7:00 am, for instance, but then doesn't back up on Monday am since I'm up and out of the house before 7. Some days it does back up in the middle of the night but I can't figure out why. I can always do the "backup now" option but just wondering if anyone knows how it schedules and is there a way to influence that?
I found this new app really interesting.(I wonder if they have an iPhone version.)The app "Carrier Coverage" was reviewed by Phandroid. It basically tracks and rates the coverage of different carriers. It's in beta now, and it looks like there is only 1 other person in Cincinnati, but this app has some great potential to eliminate dead spots and help people choose their next carrier. url...
