BB Curve :: 8900 How To Remove An IT Policy From Smartphone
Apr 9, 2010
I just purchased BB8900 Curve from someone who works at a company.I found out from my carrier that my device is IT Policy Enabled. For example, under Options>Status and typing BUYR - the voice and data usage showed IT Policy Enabled. Under Options>Security Optoions> General Settings, it displayed the IT Policy with the company name.I went to the blackberry website and found the following: How to remove an IT policy from a BlackBerry smartphone url...There are 3 options - 2 of which involve the company's IT department. I didn't want to wait for vendor's IT department, so I used the 3rd option and I removed it myself (I believe). When I type in BUYR under Options>Status, it shows the actual usage for voice and data (no IT Policy). So it appears to be removed.I have a data plan with the device but not a BES plan.My questions:
1. Has the IT Policy been removed from my device?
2. Is it possible for whatever reason for the vendor's company to issue a IT Policy to my device remotely because they do have its info - PIN/IMEI? I hate to think that they could control my device remotely or see my emails/data?
I'm going through the info listed in RIM's KB14202 "How to remove an IT policy from a blackberry smartphone". I'm on windows 7 64 bit, so I have followed the instructions, including opening as administrator. After typing in the "loader.exe /resettofactory", the loader console window appears and a white cursor flashes for about 30 seconds or so, but nothing happens.
Just left a job and they let me keep my Curve. I completed the sucurity wipe down but I can't manage to remove the IT policy - unless I do this I can't hook up my hotmail. The sites I've seen so far refer to older Curve models and I can't make those solutions work for my 9300.
how to remove an enterprise policy ( in the iPhone policy setting) without the remove button shown? I have tried to to backup and then restore thru iTunes whithout success.
How can I solve or remove IT Policy on my blackberry tour 9630.all my application are not working well and it this IT Policy cousing it.like my PixMix:-when ever I open it,it says:- The application PixMix has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by my IT Policy.
I recently got an LG Xenon GR500 through ROGERS however I cannot install my own apps or games, ringtones etc as Rogers has locked all these features in the hopes that people will then buy from them. I was wondering if unlocking the phone will remove Rogers' Security policy from my phone so I can then do all this stuff. Is there anybody that has tried something like this before, perhaps even on a different phone?
I have duplicated contacts in my BB Curve 8900. The count given by BB is 1120 (my address book) but it seems it is more 3300 (3 times each). About 15 of them are not duplicated. It is synchronized with Lotus Notes with BES at the office (I think). All was perfect for many weeks. I install Desktop Manager at home and I twice export an ASCII file of my contacts to have them in Excel. Then my contacts were 2 times duplicated.
I try both solutions suggested on forums :
- RSET in Options on device : it wipes contacts and repopulate them later. But they were always present in the BB, even if in the options I can read Numbers :
- In Desktop Manager, Advanced option under Backup and Restore, I clear contacts (Address book, and Address book all) : databases show as empty with no records, but records are still there twice before repopulating. After that, each contact is present 3 times.
I have been looking for a solution on many forums without solving my problem even with many topics talking about it. I would like to remove all contacts from the address book and resync after.Anyone have any ideas about how to wipe Contacts that refuse to be wiped?
I've got a Curve 8900 that I want to use purely as a mobile phone; there are several pre-installed files (ringtones and a video (why?) of some artist I've never heard of) that I want to get rid of.Can anyone explain why these files are protected, and whether there is any means of removing them?
I needed to clear the IT policy from my BB Bold. I followed the instructions: - backup - wipe handheld - replace policy.bin file - restore The phone works just fine. The policy appears to be gone, and I can set the security options as I want. However, when I start my Blackberry Desktop, I get an error saying "error reading policy file. Please contact your Administrator". Any idea what the issue is and how to correct it?
With the Bold 9000 I set the start time to 9am and end time to 10am, so it would not show every hour even if there is not an appointment. With the Torch, it still shows every hour from 12am to 12am. I like the day view, but having all the free time wastes time with scrolling.
I have a 8820 which was my office BB but I got a new official bb so the company let me have the 8820 but will not provide any support for it. How do I remove the IT policy from my 8820 to be able to use it as my personal bb? I read in another forum that you need OS 4.3 or greater to remove the IT policy. The OS on my 8820 is v4.2.2169 (Platform 2.4.0.67). Also read that you need desktop manager and some other stuff to backup and perform some other tasks, then install OS 4.3 and then remove the policy. Since this is now my personal bb I don't have any software or CD for it except the instrument itself. I am guessing I need to install some software on my pc, backup to be able to remove IT policy.
Where can I get the software for what I have to install it on a PC. This might also be a dumb question but what is the connection with a pc and a blackberry to install/ backup etc?If there is some intro doc that explains this it would be great.
I have searched the posts and see how to remove this on other model BB's but will installing the POLICY.BIN file remove the IT policy on a BOLD 9000? I just purchased this phone off ebay and its got a dumb policy on it that i need to remove..
How to change the IT policy from a Blackberry handheld in irder to download apps from Blackberry app world. It prompts him to change IT policy before downloading and rejects installation.
I have a 2 month old AT&T 8310. It currently has a corporate IT policy, and all of my contacts, emails etc. I want to wipe it clean so that it can be sold. Here is the procedure that a guy at the AT&T store gave me to remove the IT policy and wipe all the data. Before I try this, do you think it will work?
I had an 8310 and just bought an 8900 brand new off of eBay. I used the 8310's speakerphone A LOT for listening to music and loved it! I always took the back of the phone off too so that it wasn't coming through 2 little holes through the top. Is the sound quality and volume of the 8900 equal to or greater than the 8300 with its batter door off?
Just got myself a BB 8900, however it dosent seem to have any device memory, i have looked under memory in the options menu and it doesnt say anything about device memory and when i connect it to my PC i cannot find the phone on my computer unless i have a memory card pluged in,

I recently purchased a blackberry 8900 and am trying to upgrade the software to the newest version (5.0 I assume). However whenever I check for updates via the blackberry site the desktop manger pops up and does not offer this upgrade. All it says it 4.6.1 (current) and the rest are downgrades, so I'm not quite sure what I need to do to get the new OS to even appear, much less download it and work.
Hello everyone, i have a serious problem with updating my OS. am currently using the 4.6v and i want to update it to v5.0 but every time i try to update it from desktop manager it seems that it cant find the files to update it, it just show the old version4.6 and i tried download the update from many websites and it still doesn't want to show it on the Desktop manager. And when i tried the application loader it says the i have the latest software and its still v4.6
I changed the password for my smartphne ID on the internet but it wont change on my phone, how should I change it? Its been such a story to do all this because I couldnt remember my password and the email that I put in was the wrong one, so i had to go and open another email with the one that I used on the phone, and then I could change the password through that email, and the change the password. But now the phone is still asking the password for the previous email and I'm on my last chance. I'm a complete"virgin" when it come to these phones and I am really struggeling my **bleep** of... now I can't update my bbprotection.
