View 1 Repliesi recently purchased a brand new unlocked Pearl 9100 and on the side of the box was some Vodafone stickers but upon turning on the device i see no reference to Vodafone at all and the software version (6 Bundle 2474 v6.0.0.546) seems to indicate it's generic firmware.I have been noticing the phone changing network layers (Egde, GPRS, 3G) erratically and seems slow to find a nearer tower and switch to it to remain 3G so i am thinking perhaps Optus firmware may have optimisation for this problem but i cannot get it loaded.I have tried deleting the vendor.xml file and reinstalling the Optus 9100 firmware, and following the usual instructions found in this forum but when it finishes reading the phone it states the Optus firmware is not compatible with my device so it's all blanked out.

Its been such a story to do all this because I couldnt remember my password and the email that I put in was the wrong one, so i had to go and open another email with the one that I used on the phone, and then I could change the password through that email, and the change the password. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased BB8900 Curve from someone who works at a company.I found out from my carrier that my device is IT Policy Enabled. For example, under Options>Status and typing BUYR - the voice and data usage showed IT Policy Enabled. Under Options>Security Optoions> General Settings, it displayed the IT Policy with the company name.I went to the blackberry website and found the following: How to remove an IT policy from a BlackBerry smartphone url...There are 3 options - 2 of which involve the company's IT department. I didn't want to wait for vendor's IT department, so I used the 3rd option and I removed it myself (I believe). When I type in BUYR under Options>Status, it shows the actual usage for voice and data (no IT Policy). So it appears to be removed.I have a data plan with the device but not a BES plan.My questions:
1. Has the IT Policy been removed from my device?
2. Is it possible for whatever reason for the vendor's company to issue a IT Policy to my device remotely because they do have its info - PIN/IMEI? I hate to think that they could control my device remotely or see my emails/data?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a BB Curve 9330 UNLOCKED. Its a Sprint phone but my carrier is T-Mobile. From my understanding, all I needed to do was put in my SIM card and I would be set. Well, there's no place to put my SIM card so how do I get onto my network and be able to get phone calls, texts, etc?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn my thread of "application installation issues", it seems to be determined that my carrier who I got the phone from, is blocking the install of applications as I get a 910 error, application authorization failure, when i try to install an application from: [URL]. After some searching, I've come across BBSAK, which I use to wipe the phone and reload the oS. I've also come across the tool "vendelete" which deletes the vendor.xml files.
So I do the following:
1. Uninstall the original carrier OS from pc.
2. Install OS from different carrier to pc.
3. Use vendelete to get rid of the xml files which it says no xml files were found.
4. Use bbsak to wipe the oS.
5. Reload the OS.
But when the phone boots up, it still shows the sign of the carrier which I don't want, so I presume nothing has been updated? since when I try to install the application again, I still get the 910 error.
Is it possible to remove all the carrier branding and applications from a 8520?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've bought new BB Curve 9300 couple of weeks ago and facing some problem regarding my inbox. After configuring my email in the smartphone I am sending and receiving emails are fine but whenever I open an old email address from my PC it receive as new email on the smartphone with new time and date. What is the solution to stop old emails receiving as new ones on the device?Does BB have such synchronizing system that BB automatically sync with the mail server and shows all old emails on the device?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the 8520, and have no data plan with my carrier in my post payment plan, i thought , since i have wi-fi at home, office and tons of hot spots. I can use my BB to access the web using free wi-fi as i have been doing with my last 4 smartphones.Big mistake. i have been charged 55 us last month, for data transfer use , i ran to my plan´s assistance office ( telcel in Mexico ), and the answer i got was. you have to get a data plan from us to be able to use wi-fi ( obviuosly i stared at her , just nodding my head ).There is no point in having a device that has acces to wi fi networks , if i cant access the wi fi network without you data plan, so i got the lady to bring the tech guy. His response was...naaahhh...it will access the wi fi. but we´ll charge u anyway. you need to disable the network from the phone and only leave the wi fi option on so you can access without any other charge, but this will leave you with no phone connection.
Is this real? did i just spend 399us in a gadget that has wi fi capabilities but will not be able to get on any wi fi connection form home or work, without being charged for data transmission over my cell providers network?cmon this sounds as stupid as it does in my head ? i would be really disapointed if i just left my old Nokia E71 SPhone, for this beautiful BB Curve 8520 THAT DOES NOT CONNECT TO THE WI Fi.
Version is installed is 1.0.10.25 The problem is that I can't log into MyBB ID from the smartphone.I'm getting message "The Blackberry Protect service is temporarily unavailable" every time I'm trying Using wifi connection and i tried to set another BB ID account but same story.

I recently purchased a used E63 unlocked & I am using it with AT&T. I reset it when I got it & all is working in terms of voice/basic text. However, as it relates to checking email via hotmail, yahoo, etc, do I have to have a data plan for this? On my previous non-smart phone, this was included as part of the messaging plan but now I'm thinking it's going to need a data plan. Any thoughts on this? Any issues using data on e63/thoughts on how much it will cost?

I have been trying to change it on my Bold 9650 but to start I have to enter my ID (which I checked and is my email address) but when I enter it I get an error message saying that my "user name is invalid. A user bane nust be at least 4 characters." and I can get no further. I have verified my Blackberry ID and my username but nothing I do works. As a last resort, how do I delete my email account entirely and start over?
