I have searched the posts and see how to remove this on other model BB's but will installing the POLICY.BIN file remove the IT policy on a BOLD 9000? I just purchased this phone off ebay and its got a dumb policy on it that i need to remove..
View 7 RepliesI needed to clear the IT policy from my BB Bold. I followed the instructions:
- backup
- wipe handheld
- replace policy.bin file
- restore
The phone works just fine. The policy appears to be gone, and I can set the security options as I want. However, when I start my Blackberry Desktop, I get an error saying "error reading policy file. Please contact your Administrator". Any idea what the issue is and how to correct it?
I just get the bold 9900 and i tried to connect to BES and i couldn't ... anyway now my BB is locked and i can't disable the security code.
how can i remove the IT policy ? i have tried loader.exe /resettofactory but it's doesn't work ...
I'm going through the info listed in RIM's KB14202 "How to remove an IT policy from a blackberry smartphone". I'm on windows 7 64 bit, so I have followed the instructions, including opening as administrator. After typing in the "loader.exe /resettofactory", the loader console window appears and a white cursor flashes for about 30 seconds or so, but nothing happens.

Guy at Best Buy just took care of all of it when he ported number.I wanted to sell my Bold, but a day after I switched, I realized my gmail account is still on my BIS. So when I do a full reset to to sell the phone, my gmail account is still probably linked to it. I tried going into the email setup to remove it, but it says it needs a radio to do so, and I can't do that since my AT&T account is closed.Is my gmail still linked to my BIS even after my AT&T account is closed? Do I need to call them to remove it? I don't fully understand how BIS works so that is why I am asking here.

Why can't RIM develop a Bold 9xxx with the body of the Bold 9000 with larger memory, Trackpad, better camera? They've done it with the Tour and Curve. Plus they've got all the parts available already, just need a little engineering to fit the trackpad and everything else. C'mon RIM. We know you can do it. I'm sure you'd sell millions of them.

I need this for work and so I will be forking some dough out of my pocket to get one of the two following phones: Bold 9000 (I'll pay 100$ Canadian, not Us) Curve 8530 (pay 24.99$ Canadian). I am very used to the Iphone and HTC Touch Pro 2 (not trying to start a flaming/argument/anything else , its just what i'm used to). I am very used to browsing with the other phones and I have heard that BB phones are not up to par, so my expectations will be low. Out of the two phones however, does one perform better than the other (Curve 8530 vs Bold 9000)? Out of the two phones, which one do you recommend overall. I have read that the Bold 9000 even though it is older, it still outperforms the 8530...

The device still works, but two thirds of the LCD is now white and there's what looks like an inkblot on the left side of the screen. I'd like to try to fix it, but don't really want to shell out a lot of $ to do so --- I'm a month away from upgrading.Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a dead BlackBerry with a working screen that you're willing to part with? A DIY repair -- this is out of warranty anyway -- looks straightforward, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $100 or so for a new OEM part to replace the LCD screen.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just bought an used BB 9900 Bold that came with IT policy. I thought I'd upgrade the OS to 7.1 bundle 1149 and it will return to factory settings removing the IT policy. But it did not remove the IT policy now I even can't access BBM World Apps. Any ideas how to remove this IT policy that is restricting me from BBM Apps. I tried crackutil and it does not recognize OS 7.1 so basically I am stuck with the 9900 and can's even use.

Under Options>Security Optoions> General Settings, it displayed the IT Policy with the company name.I went to the blackberry website and found the following: How to remove an IT policy from a BlackBerry smartphone url...There are 3 options - 2 of which involve the company's IT department. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a bold 9000 and I can not connect to the internet. Carrier is AT&T and I live in the North East (NYC area). Worked fine up until yesterday (Jan 25). Now gmail, facebook, browser - none work. I've tried the battery pull, turning on/off the network, run a diagnostic test from mobile network options. In the mobile network test i get the volling anomolies "Blackberry PIN-PIN: No" and it says can't connect to my email (gmail).
View 5 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I pulled my phone out of the holster and It was really hot and when i looked at it i realized it was off, and wouldnt turn back on. just a red light comes on like normal upon a battery pull but after it turns off the red light comes back on again once more then stays off for good. unless i plug it in then it comes on and goes off all the time. I got it powered back up yesterday but then it did it again. Today I plugged it in and I saw a picture of a battery come up on the screen showing it as empty, i was hoping that meant it might charge up. but no such luck. My main objective is just to get the phone up long enough to back up the info on the phone.
