View 4 RepliesI'm trying to set my phone to go into lock mode after a period of time (like 5 min or something). I've only been able to auto-lock it with a password protection but I don't want to enter a password every time, I just want to hit the button on top to unlock it.
Also, I don't use a holster...I just throw it in my pocket. Most of the time I remember to lock it before I put it in my pocket but every time I don't, I end up calling someone. I read the other threads prior to posting and nothing.
I've read the other posts but couldn't disable the IT policy.It's probably because I couldn't use the CrackUtil. It just doesn't work.Maybe it's because of this "os" thing. What is os? How do I see if I have os 4.3 or better?In the "about" screen is written:v5.0.0.442 (platform 5.1.0.121) - does it mean that I don't have the right os? As you can see - I don't understand too much, but I do want to get rid from the annoying password.

- backup
- wipe handheld
- replace policy.bin file
- restore
The phone works just fine. The policy appears to be gone, and I can set the security options as I want. However, when I start my Blackberry Desktop, I get an error saying "error reading policy file. Please contact your Administrator". Any idea what the issue is and how to correct it?
I have the 9700 and for about the past week the trackpad has only worked part of the time. It will quit working and all I have to do to get it to work for a while is do a battery pull. But, this only works part of the time.

This phone is "permanently" password protected, meaning that I need to insert my password every single time I unlock my phone. I tried going to "Password" and disabling this option but there is a red lock beside the option and it won't let me choose Disable, only Enable. I have a Verizon IPhone 4S, internationally unlocked, using an international sim card When I first moved to China, everything worked fine. Now that I'm thinking back, I'd say that the first time I noticed problems connecting to wifi was after getting a local 3G sim card for my phone. Since then, I've been able to see wifi networks fine, but get incorrect password everytime I've input them.

Blackberry 9700 The device has problem if you activate the security password, the devices does not accept the password until 5 or 6 attempts and then prompts you to type blackberry to continue. I havent seen a wishlist for iOS so far, at least not a relevant one. So I figured that we can add things with time. I wish a quick on/off button/shortcut/app for the password protection lock. Its time consuming to always have it on and it takes too much effort to turn it on and off. On/Off Shortcut on mainscreen for Password Protection?

I am working with a user who recently switched from a 9550 to a 9700 (verizon to at&t) for coverage reasons.Whenever he unlocks his keyboard (using the lock button on the top left of the device), he must enter his password to access his phone. The security timeout settings on his phone are set to 1 hour, but even if he locks the keyboard for 5 seconds, he still has to enter his password when unlocking it.The only time that the keyboard will lock and unlock without requiring a password is when it is entered/removed from the holster.We are using BES.I cannot replicate this issue with the 9650 or 9550. Unfortunately I don't have a 9700 at my disposal to play with.Is this a normal feature for the 9700?I've checked his encryption settings (disabled).We cannot disable the password function (mandated by BES policy).The issue is not that he has to enter his password, it's that he would prefer that a password not be needed unless the security timeout has expired.

Previously when I click on the top button of the mobile my phone goes into "Password mode" locking which means you can't unlock the device unless you enter the password. But after the update, clicking the button will only lock the keyboard and anyone can unlock it by clicking the same button.

I'm assuming once you login correctly once that the number if incorrect attempts resets to 0, but I've seen statements in various articles that state or at least hint otherwise.
i already have my 9700 password protected and everytimes i plug my 9700 it will ask me for my password. but my question is, if i remove my sd card and plug it into my pc, it doesn't prompt me for any password. wtf? where is the security, rim? i though one of ur selling point was blackberry is a secure device?
